I've seen this image a couple of times now and just now realized it's probably meant to say looters.
All this time my brain autocorrected it to loiterers instead and I thought it was kind of harsh but still made sense to me somehow.
-
So I guess Connect Four memes are a thing, huh?

Then why does German have the sun feminine and the moon masculine, while French has it the other way round?
Please don't try to make sense of the French language, for you own sanity

And anyway expecting French and Germans to agree is almost as bad as expecting French and English to agree.

@PleegWat I wonder, if you added up all the wars between them, who had been allies and who had been enemies, who would come out ahead.

You can take any two of the three and get them to agree that the third one is wrong/terrible/whatever...

yeah. they are pretty amazing.
-
@Vixen Well, yeah. Rogers and Hammerstein, arguably the best creators of Broadway show tunes ever. Amazing is pretty much par for the course.

@error Should be Les Otters.
L'enfer: C'est Les Otters.

@jinpa That kind of bad pun gives me nausea.

I had the thought when writing it that you would find it especially hellish.

@Zecc
Kind of a shame that the Connectetris isn’t using official piece generation rules.

Don't know if you've read "L'enfer: C'est Les
OttersAutres", but the young woman is a lesbian.
-
@jinpa I hadn't, but if you'd like to remember me making a high-brow literary joke instead of the one I made, you're welcome to

I got pulled back here by a notification and this picture reminded me of one of our dogs. Whenever I let him in my vehicle he always goes to the driver's seat. No matter what door he enters the vehicle from. I always tell him:
Once I said that without realizing there was someone right there. That woman gave me a very odd look. Most people usually just chuckle. She took me seriously.

It's not like you were wrong.

@Polygeekery said in The Official Funny Stuff Thread™:
depending on your car, I don't think thumbs are really needed to drive. The wheel and pedals obviously don't need thumbs, most gear sticks (either manual or automatic) also don't (the only exception would be engaging reverse, but that depends on the constructors). Wipers or blinkers are easy to operate. A dog might even be able to turn the stems of those controls to e.g. control lights or windscreen washer (water!! <excited lab trying to get through the windscreen>), by
chewingbiting on them.A large dog should even be able to get its hind paws on the pedals while having the front ones on the wheel, so that might even be anatomically feasible. Although I doubt it could apply enough pressure on the pedals to actually go anywhere, unless they are very sensitive?
Dang, now I want to see a dog driving a car all by himself. The more I think about it the more it seems a fun idea...

Well, if a llama can do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jM6RzqUmRA

Toby Faire: it wouldn't be worse than some drivers I see on the road
-
@Dragoon I'm not quite sure and I'm no photo-editing expert, but by looking closely at the pixels I think that this not actual footage of an actual llama driving an actual car...
-
I agree, the black and white makes it looks so fake.
-
@Dragoon Well that could be older footage from before ca. 1930, when colour had not yet been invented, so that's not definitive proof.

@Bulb said in The Official Funny Stuff Thread™:
For it's own surnames, which tend to be derived from arbitrary words, Czech (and I believe all Slavic languages) works around this by adding a suffix to female surnames. So now you can tell gender from most person's surnames (surnames based on adverbs are never flexed at all). And, of course, feminists hate it, because the suffix, “-ová”, is rather close to the suffix for masculine-owned-feminine possessive (“-ova”).
@Gąska said in The Official Funny Stuff Thread™:
Which means that it's extremely common for spouses, and for parents and their children, to have a different suffix in their last names - leading to all sorts of "fun" when moving abroad.
I have some friends from Czechia who have four girls. They have the school-aged kids in my church's private elementary school. Most of the people at the school think that their last name is "{surname}-ova", because that's what the girls and their mother call themselves. That has led to a few somewhat awkward, somewhat funny situations where someone calls the dad "Mr. {surname}-ova" instead of just "Mr. {surname}" and the naming scheme has to be explained.

Anish Kapoor
That's the guy who has the exclusive license for Vantablack, and because of that the guy who made the "Pinkest pink" pigment barred him from using it

@hungrier said in The Official Funny Stuff Thread™:
Vantablack
I'm still surprised that hasn't been licensed for solar harvesting yet...
-
@Tsaukpaetra Probably because of Anish Kapoor

Anyway I looked up the actual details about the pinkest pink situation and I think it's good for this thread:
Purchasers of PINK are required to make a legal declaration during the online checkout process, confirming that: "you are not Anish Kapoor, you are in no way affiliated to Anish Kapoor, you are not purchasing this item on behalf of Anish Kapoor or an associate of Anish Kapoor. To the best of your knowledge, information and belief this paint will not make its way into that hands of Anish Kapoor
