No I was griping that the things I can build aren't highlighted in any way. Simply making the unavailable items greyed-out would have made that dialog 10 million times more usable. Not that any moron who wants to replicate Dwarf Fortress knows shit about usability...

Ah. I was watching that on a shitty connection and the video dropped to blurry resolution. Later I went and fired up the game to see, but by then meh.
As I said before, there's probably a great game idea buried under that shitty interface. The Gnomoria one is slightly better in that it's slightly more discoverable, but yes, it's still shit. I mean, at least you figured out how to do a couple of things this time, right?

Is it hard to make subtitles for a YouTube video? If someone make an English one for the honeypup video I wanna translate it to pt_BR

I don't know, but would like to find out. I've been asked by a hearing-impaired fan of the video producer whose site I built.

You can read this and see if it helps: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2734796?hl=en

The correct question would be how hard it is to convince Blakey to put cc in his videos.
-
Speaking of Gnomoria, here's something funny that happened to me a while back--just about the very first thing I made in a game:
-
Dwarf Fortress puts names of things you don't have the materials for in red text and then if you try to build them it shows you a list of the ingredients with the ones you don't have in red.
-
Norepro in Blakey's video
-
Some of the older stuff isn't set up like that. For example, at the still, all three booze-making jobs are set up with the red text thing, but the "extract from plants" job isn't, and I'm not even sure what it does.
Edit: It's apparently used for a single item that is poisonous to gnomes. I have never seen a gnome in Dwarf Fortress.
-
Not processed yet, but this windstorm might knock out power before I get the chance to post it otherwise. Also the URL looks like "72 oz Jug Abs" which is now my new username.
Not very proud of this video, but I deleted a bunch today and I wouldn't feel productive if I didn't post at least one.
-
Aaru's Awakening. After recording this I played in English and found out you could teleport where those little white pills you shoot are. So.
The art and sound and music is actually pretty damned good, but the game's really cheap in that the only way through most sections is trial-and-error. Until you get killed by X it's nearly impossible to tell what kills you and what is harmless.
-
Hmm. Looks a lot like the Android version only with somewhat better graphics (base on the first minute.)
-
I do kind of want to play Dungeon Keeper now, though, so I guess that can maybe be considered a positive outcome.
Any thoughts on war for the overworld? It's been released, but currently I don't have the required hardware.

Dude, just look up the Dwarf Fortress Wiki. And if the look is really bothering you that much, get either the Lazy Newb pack, or Masterwork Dwarf Fortress.I get that it can be frustrating, but just give it time. Before you know it, you'll be throwing goblins in the arena and laughing as your dwarfs cave their skulls in!!!
I also suggest looking up this dudes walk through, it will help you out a bunch. His name is 5ippycup. Good luck man!
I love when people post stuff like this on my videos. That PlaneShift MMO shitty thing got a lot of these too.
Nothing fans of shitty games hate more than people calling the games shitty before "learning" them. Right. Watching endless Dwarf Fortress tutorials is a good use of my time, or I could just play an actually-fun city builder game, like Banished.

I haven't tried it since it was like alpha in Early Access and very little was implemented.

Hey, don't go blaming the game if you're not smart enough to go and look up how to play it, thats on you.I do get why you didn't like it though. It is very hard to learn and it looks like ass! That's why you install graphics mods and watch tutorials.
Saying it's a shitty game after 30 minutes of running around like an asshole is silly. But it was funny to watch, haha.Anyways, I leave you with the thousands of people who gave up as well. Im'a go make a grand dinning room and deal with this insane kid dwarf. Fucker keep biting everyone! Bye
Oooh, this clears it up. It's not a bad game, I'm just stupid. Obviously!
So this guy "defending" Dwarf Fortress has called a potential player, in order: Lazy, Newb, not smart enough.

You're dwarfing it wrong.

You know that even if you'd made it more explicitly clear that you deliberately didn't read any guides and said "I didn't read any guides because I want to go into this blind", you'd still get comments like that.

Normal human beings realize that other normal human beings go into all games blind, and it's the game's responsibility to be entertaining.
-
Normal human beings
It's nice, if surprising, that you are willing to grant that the type of person who plays DF might be normal.
-
Camera Obscura's development started in 2011 and was released in 2013 (according to its website).
Snapshot goes as back as 2009 and its release was in 2012.
It's arguable how innovative Camera Obscura is.
-
Snapshot looks more fun. At least from the screenshots.

Retro platformers and Godzilla reminds me of MSX's Godzilla

You review games, right? I haven't actually watched your videos, but they look like game reviews.
-
"review" might be a bit strong.

Cloud Knights. An idea good for maybe a mini-game in WarioWare, stretched to a full-sized game.
-
So... when are you going to review Sudeki?
-
I thought I might actually do a full playthrough of that. Believe it or not I:
- Purchased it at launch on Xbox
- Actually completed the game despite it being stupid as shit
Maybe I'll start it this weekend if I finish my christmas chores up.
I also thought about doing Operation: Darkness. Which I have for Xbox 360.

I happened to stumble upon something on tumblr that seems uncannily familiar...

But if you don't actually review things, perhaps it's not as apt as I thought.

I think it's more about mocking bad games

For those not brave enough: Humanoid rat likes to give out overly critical reviews to everything. In a night club, he hooks up with a stud athletic rat and takes him home. After a steamy night of gay sex, he rates the stud with 5 stars. Unfortunately, the stud is less impressed and gives out just one star to our hero rat.
OH SNAP! The reviewing rat not only got fucked in the ass, but was rated porely for his effort as well!
Exactly like blakey's bleak day to day experience. See? It all fits together!

Polarity. Kind of like Portal, if Portal had been made for $500 by people with zero eye for detail.
Stay for the world's worst GlaDOS impression.

I clicked fullscreen on the video in and jumped to post 510.... I'm actually puzzled.
-
BTW when I talk about the weird controller in the review, I get it backwards. The problem is that the left-right controls aren't more sensitive than the up-down controls, which is really weird and alien and makes me wonder if the guy who made this has ever played any first person video game ever before.

A quote for the ages that will never quote mined.

Is doing 70s porn soundtracks your thing now?
-
I half-suspect that soundtrack was machine generated.
But no, it's more like a 70s horror movie soundtrack. A porno soundtrack would have the saxophone.
-
has called a potential player, in order: Lazy, Newb
There are three distinct packaged versions of Dwarf Fortress named "the lazy newb pack".

Angels of Fasaria.
This is marked as a MMO on the Steam store. It is not an MMO. It's a piece of shit RPGMaker game. It is not tagged as "RPGMaker". I hate this.
-
actually puzzled.
You may not realize it, but discourse is training you! @blakeyrat said:

Edit: WTF? Apparently Discourse saved my post during a cooties storm last night, and when I open the topic it's game for automatic submission!?!
