Hipster or Civil War Soldier?

I guess it hadn't occurred to me how retro retro-fashion has gotten.

Hipsters are scary.

And not a single iThingy...

Bluetooth iPipes?

This guy is a hipster that all the other hipsters make fun of. It should be legal to give him a savage public beating for these crimes against fashion.
Same for this guy, if he starts playing that fucking thing on the bus.

Is there anything about that picture which is not awful? Yes, the people at the street café in the background appear to be normal.

This picture is a whole lot of horrible also.
No shoes in a public cafe, paired with fashion that says, "I bathe once a month, whether I need it or not."

HTFY
I am pretty sure this is where I insert the "That escalated quickly" meme? I am new to these internets whatchamacallits.

Hipster beards make me ashamed I have a beard. I had a beard long before it was the cool thing to do. Been tempted to shave it out of spite but I think I look better with one.
Oh crap...does that make me a hipster?
-
this happened with computer games and being a geek. I did it before it was cool (as did probably most of it) then it became cool and we had our culture robbed from us, thankfully I think it's uncool again now.

Same here, except I keep mine trimmed to 1/8"-1/4" and do not look like an unkempt frontiersman. The long beards would not even look that bad on most of them, if they at least trimmed them a touch to even everything up and shaved the edges to get rid of the scraggly edges. When homeless people do it, they look unkempt, but it is ok because they do it ironically.

"Oh, Frank. Yes it is wrong. Deeply wrong."

You joke, but it is coming. Just wait.
Our society will be missing one generation just because the females of it will not want to fuck any of the males of the hipster generation.

Me, too. I mostly let it grow long as an experiment (just stopped trimming my goatee). The wife likes it, and it's a great conversation starter. I have her braid it now and then, which is also kind of fun.

I don't think so. Not without other symptoms.

At least it will make it easy to get a job as a unix admin.
Look on the bright side!
-
It's not a neckbeard! I normally keep it well-trimmed and fairly short. I used to have the Commander Riker thing going on but I don't trim it that thin anymore.
Uh oh, I just remembered that the ESXi game server I administer is mostly composed of various Linuxes....

There are plenty of hipster females, too. And they love that shit.
I think being able to give a clear sign that one is a member of a given subculture (dressing like a retarded clown) actually increases one's chances. So long as the subculture has a decent gender mix.

I've thought the same thing (even though mine is a lot shorter than the ones in those pics). But then I remember that my wife thinks I look better with a beard, so I'm probably safe.

I think there should be a clear sign for the TDWTF subculture, especially now that the change to Discourse has doubled the number of females.

The thread about how we're all mens' rights activists is over there somewhere.

No. He just gets busy or apathetic or on the lam every so often. He'll be back later.

Nothing wrong with having a long manly beard:

is that @Arantor?

It's some crazy guy that thinks he wrote an OS.
-
Yeah, @Arantor would write an OS in PHP.
-
That sounds like a fun and interesting project!

I'm pretty sure he would admit he hasn't finished Hurd. I doubt it will ever happen at this late date. Instead he tried to force a "GNU/" onto the front of Linux and co-opt it.
-
-
"This is a snapshot of Debian "sid" at the time of the Debian "wheezy" release (May 2013), so it is mostly based on the same sources."
Nope. If they can't point what's actually Hurdy about it right there on the about page, it's not Hurd. Also, notice what they did, again: "Debian GNU/Hurd." No, it's Debian with maybe some extra cruft.
-
I have no brief for Hurd, but right on that page they have:
The GNU Hurd is the GNU project's replacement for the Unix kernel. It is a collection of servers that run on the Mach microkernel to implement file systems, network protocols, file access control, and other features that are implemented by the Unix kernel or similar kernels (such as Linux).
Plus a link right after that called "More Detailed." Well done channeling teh blakez.

Did you click that link? It should be more accurately called "Detail-free." You can even click through a couple of the links on that page and not really get a good feel for it.
"We replaced parts of the kernel with Folger's crystals, but didn't bother with telling you which actual ones."
Did they swap out the kernel? Doesn't look like it but I honestly can't tell.
-
Did they swap out the kernel?
I thought that was the whole point, but I certainly don't care enough to verify their claims.

Ah, so your pendantry was dickweedy.

Too many of them around these days.

October of last year is "these days"?
