Which, by all intents and purposes, seems to indicate I have an account (online at that!) that I'm expected to log into in order to interact with this company.
So anyways, did the call, they said my account was inactive (natch) and they activated it. It would take two days to take effect.
If you're surprised it didn't work, shame on you.
Meanwhile I had also requested to get a replacement card. That came today.
Guess who doesn't have an online account according to the system?
Anyways, hoop through the loops to set up the account.
Fuck you with a serrated rusty knife. Barely one out of each question set is even remotely answerable (yay moving a lot during childhood, yay not-having-had-a-wedding-or-a-best-man-at-said-wedding, etc.). Fine, I'll play ball.
Works great!

Varies. Not much round here; larger stores have limited opening hours, and that's about it. Was much stricter when I was young.

Do they have Sunday shopping ban in the first world? The few times I've been there, I haven't really noticed it. I thought it's only the post-Soviet states and other shitholes that have such amazing ideas.
France has quite restrictive opening times from what I've heard but it was more the "I can't walk to the shop I have to drive to a different shop" thing

Depends, in rural parts: yes, as the towns get bigger you get Western opening hours.
The south of Europe is still in a different time table however. Expect everything to be closed for hours around noon.

@topspin I'm not quire sure, but I have the disturbing feeling that PyCharm indexes everything in the (sub-)directory that's open (i.e. in the "project"). Or at least that's one explanation why I got very different results when I deleted the configuration folder and opened PyCharm again somewhere else.
I'm not doing large software development in Python, these are just some simple data processing scripts. And as such, I put them one level above where the data is. It's not exactly useful to index huge chunks of non-Python data, if that's actually what its doing.

@Luhmann True in more multi-lingual places. Most cities in the Dutch province of Friesland have two names, and you increasingly often see in in France as well. I think I even saw Rijssel (French name Lille) on a road sign on the French side of the border this year.
-
@Luhmann More often than not it seems to me that are the French

Rijsel/Lille is mostly a border thing, the signage also mentions Gent/Ghent on the French side for example.
For more multilingual fun try Basque ... it took me a while to figure out that San Sebastian was the same place as Donostia.

If you aren't close to your regular checkup then Chlorhexidine Gluconate mouthwash works great for clearing up minor gingivitis. Works within a couple of days, strong stuff!

Status2: thinking about scheduling a dentist visit. If you've just taken up flossing or using indenture picks recently that would explain it. My gums bled for about a month. Dentist told me it was normal considering the state my teeth were in. It wasn't a pleasent experience.

Status Installing XCode to update the application I support. I guess that others see it the same way--Xcode is only rated 3.3/5 on the mac app store. As a sign of the nature of mac development, it's also #1 in developer tools. If your #1 piece of developer software sucks that much, either
a) your store sucks
b) your platform sucks for developers.
c) both.

@Benjamin-Hall Working through converting my Swift 4 application to Swift 5, and the conversion tool gives me the following:
Old code:
UIApplication.shared.open(url, options: [:], completionHandler: nil)
Suggested new code:
UIApplication.shared.open(url, options: convertToUIApplicationOpenExternalURLOptionsKeyDictionary([:]), completionHandler: nil)
as it turns out, that stupidly-named function is actually a generated helper function inserted by the migrator that can be avoided with a slightly different call. Basically it's taking a stringly-keyed dictionary key and shoving it into an enum-keyed dictionary. Except the dictionary is empty, so....

Well, it is definitely the #1 most-downloaded software in developer tools, mostly because it acts as a gateway to using a sane developer config.

I use xcode only to get the Apple clang toolchain. And it breaks shit with each update because you need to run the GUI to accept the license once before you can use the command line stuff. (It's open source and the license hasn't changed between updates, why do I need to do this?!)

At least it wasn't toilet paper. Running out of that on a Sunday sucks. Banana peels or home-made tortillas emphatically DO NOT make adequate substitutes.
For some reason, every non-public toilet in Finland has been equipped with a bidet shower head since 1980s. I wholeheartedly recommend the practise to everyone renovating their toilet. It cuts down on the emergencies, in addition to making post-taco cleanup much less painful.

Status 2: The error messages I got:
C2338: You've instantiated std::aligned_storage<Len, Align> with an extended alignment (in other words, Align > alignof(max_align_t)). Before VS 2017 15.8, the member type would non-conformingly have an alignment of only alignof(max_align_t). VS 2017 15.8 was fixed to handle this correctly, but the fix inherently changes layout and breaks binary compatibility (*only* for uses of aligned_storage with extended alignments). Please define either (1) _ENABLE_EXTENDED_ALIGNED_STORAGE to acknowledge that you understand this message and that you actually want a type with an extended alignment, or (2) _DISABLE_EXTENDED_ALIGNED_STORAGE to silence this message and get the old non-conformant behavior.
What the actual fuck?!
I did no such thing, but I did write a call tostd::make_shared
and you did the rest. Are you seriously telling me I cannot call that at all without adding another define (either for the old or new behavior)?
Yeah, thanks, I'llroll my ownjust usemake_shared
, with black jack and hookersshared_ptr
directly, then.

Don't forget - after installing, you also have to open the GUI so it can finish installing the extra components! (I think that's when it does the command line tools)
