Can't reboot into recovery.
This does not bode well...
Edit: Nevermind, I forgot that since my phone has the developer bootloader it acts funky when the charger is plugged in during boot. Unplugged and rebooted, and was able to take my backup.
Compressed backup is only 1.72Gb, which includes the system and userdata partitions.

Alright, the Unified patch thing seems to have worked, and surprisingly enough the restored backup boots! Kinda. Now missing the virtual SD card, but hey! Now there's 11Gb available for apps!
Everything crashes though... so....

Status: Firefox appears to be leaking memory. Set an interval from the browser console in

And/or if the resulting delay that it produces every 30 seconds is too horrible to put up with. Also the aforementioned divorce may or may not happen at this point. Not really sure. She's backed off the immediate threat, but she's also moved out.

-
@Tsaukpaetra Well... I shouldn't need to...
Anyway I finally just restarted the whole browser because it was behaving strangely. I think one of the processes was borked. But I may still restart the interval to poke the button...
-
@anotherusername Probably that button also kills something important, though, by accident. That would seem the most likely case.

I think it's more likely that one of the processes ran out of memory and deadlocked itself somehow, in a way that persisted even after garbage collection freed up some memory.

There seem to be some popular and very mild strains of Habanero used these days, I assume so people can claim they love hot food without actually eating hot food.
I just watched Deadliest Catch where to simulate stress (and answer questions) they had 2 of the captions eat habaneros. And then ghost peppers. Yes, a bucket became involved.

Got carded for the first time in quite a while at the store, for buying... wait for it... caffeine tablets.
?!
In other news, I love weekends as they give me time to make good meals. Made chicken fettuccine Alfredo tonight, with homemade pasta and homemade Alfredo sauce. If you've never had homemade pasta, you have no idea how much you're missing out on.
-
@heterodox That's so they can track your further purchases and report you if it "seems like you're crushing and reselling them" for instance.

I got carded for wite-out. The part that sucks? The date listed (self-check out so it shows the "they have to be born before X/Y/Z" date on the screen) was after I graduated from high school. I feel old.

Unlikely in the US. Items that are restricted purchase amounts (certain decongestants, for example) have to be purchased at the pharmacy counter and they have to take details from your ID.
Being carded just means having to show proof of age for age-restricted materials such as alcohol, spray paint, and a bunch of other random things.

Fucking first-world problems...
Next problem: Godddddddamn internal SDCARD partition was apparently improperly formatted. Wasted four hours flashing and re-flashing ROMs and patches trying to figure out the problem.
Manually formatted in the fucking on-phone recovery terminal (because the button to do it in the recovery UI merely
rmdir
s some of them, but not the right ones), and this time it seems to be working. At least, taking a screenshot didn't make the noise and immediately pop a notification that doing so failed because of low space.
We'll see about restoring my game now...

Fixed.
Now the most important things have been restored. It will take forever to retrain the keyboard but I don't think that can be helped without a lot of shenanigans.
All I have left to do it wait for Gameloft support to help me restore my $3.6k game file and I'm mostly good.
Biggest complaint so far is that apparently you can't assign different notification tones to Gmail labels anymore. Sad day.

Status: the hallway/staircase is officially the worst room of the house to redecorate.
It looks like a fairly simple job: strip out old wallpaper, slap a coat of render (which means I don't even care about the walls being perfectly smooth) and paint the doors.
But the hallway combines all the fucking annoying things you can imagine. Awkward barely accessible corners, check. High ceilings, above stairs to make it hard to put a ladder, check. Lots of doors (*), each one taking ages to properly sand and paint due to small details, check. In the middle of the house so you can't really leave stuff for too long, check. Tons of fiddly little details like light switches, light points, windows... that each take 10x longer than they should, check.
(*) holy shit, do I really have twelve fucking doors in the hallway?!!1?? well apparently I do...
-
OK, so my phone could still boot into fastboot mode, but nothing else (no recovery or normal boot). I thought I'd try to see if I could communicate with it via the Android SDK tools, but it wasn't detecting it.
I installed the Motorola tools just in case it needed drivers there. I connected it again... and it just booted directly into the normal OS like nothing ever happened .
Let's see how long it lasts now...
edit: approximately 10 seconds after disconnecting

From the documentation of a HTTP server library:
When the router finds one matching request handler, it will call it passing the request and response objects. If the found handler cannot handle the request (this is indicated by the return value), the router will continue its quest in the search of a worthy handler.
Obviously, I need to make an endpoint called
mjolnir

. IT MUST BE DONE!

Must be nice to be so fucking rich. I don't even have a hallway!!! Well I kind of do in the entry but it's maybe 8' long.
"Oh bitch whine all the yachts take so long to polish! So many fine details and high ceilings!"

@Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:

If that's in-app purchases, wouldn't it be tied to your account rather than (or in addition to) some file on your device? It should be as simple as verifying "yes, this account has access to the Really Shiny Horse Armor and 65 million dino tokens" without any need to involve customer support.
-
@blakeyrat I could have bet that someone would whine along these lines, so I actually counted to put the right number. Let's see how huge my mansion is:
Starting on the ground floor (ooh, look how rich I am, there are actually stairs in my house!):
- entrance door
- kitchen
- living room
- bathroom
- WC
- cupboard
- access to cellar
Then first floor (second floor if you're and not using 0-indexes): - bathroom (again, woohoo, I'm rich, there are 2 showers in my house!)
- 3 bedrooms of varying sizes
- another cupboard.
Yep, that's 12, and that's a 3 bedrooms house (which is the reason I'm bitching about it: if I had a mansion, I wouldn't complain about it being large. But it's not a huge house, and yet the hallway really feels like I'm redecorating a 42-rooms palace). Most of all, I am in the fucking middle of nowhere (well that one I can only blame myself for, that's what I wanted so I could get more than a postage stamp-sized yard), where land is so cheap I'm not even sure a 1$ bill-sized chunk costs 1$.
So yeah, it's not a tiny 1-bed house, for sure, but I'm pretty sure it's actually worth less than most houses here, and maybe even less than yours.

Maybe GameLoft is run by Nintendo, motto: we hate our customers and we want to steal all their money all the time!

Not a fair comparison; mine's in Bellevue. 900 square feet here costs half a million.
