Yeah, I think it drops off after a few months?
Seemingly, it also forgets likes eventually too.

@tsaukpaetra That's the thing - I know it does, but this is much more recent. Like, two weeks ago recent.

Status: 99.9% of mails on my college email is spam. The remaining 0.1% is things like a notice from 7 PM yesterday that the professor got sick so the 7:30 AM lecture today is called off. I read it after I got to college and "kissed the knob" on locked door to lecture hall. It was damn cold today (-10°C) and the trolleys broke down so half of the route I had to go on foot.
I hate public transport more and more everyday.
The next class is at 1:30PM. I need to figure out something to do for the next 5 hours.

Status: Speaking of YouTube, apparently the Chromecast playlist is no longer a thing with the web player; I couldn't queue up any videos and just had to click play on each one...

@tsaukpaetra In one of our products, people made lots of test data that looked like:

00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000002

etcExcept this isn't test data. I'm pretty sure it's just a hash of the ID. Padded out.

Well, I suppose he could have bottles instead, but why go through the effort?

I have full time job, so that's the only way. Saturday and Sunday, 7AM through 7PM (with 6 hours free inbetween because I've already passed some courses).

OK, that makes sense. Except for the bit where there's teachers willing to work those hours, but that's not your problem (quite the reverse). ;)

@dkf angry teachers ARE my problem.

@dkf also. Thanks for reminding me it's fucking Sunday. -.-

30-ish pictures scanned so far; maybe 300 to go. (Wild guess. My son and I have sorted maybe 20–25% of the photos, and I've just started scanning the pictures I already know need to be scanned; I have no real idea how many of the not-yet-sorted photos will need to be scanned.)
300 was wildly optimistic. I just scanned img503.tif, and I'm maybe 1/3 done. There are several boxes I haven't even looked in yet, much less sorted; forget scanning. But I am done, because we're getting together tomorrow afternoon, and I'm busy with other tasks between now and then. My son and I have been going through them for a week; she thinks we'll be done in an hour. If we could manage to go through one picture a second, maybe.

Not really. The mass is at 11AM in another part of town, or here nearby at 12:30PM.

@dkf I could have gone for the 9AM mass, but it's already too late. Besides, it's fucking -10 degrees.

I did that last summer, and people who saw me with my wife or kids quickly figured out who I was, but alone, I was treated like a new acquaintance. It can be kinda fun. :P

@djls45 decided to play Colin McRae 2005 instead. Bad decision - playing on laptop numpad on shitty table breaks your fingers.

I was never clean-shaven from the time I was first able to grow a beard in my (late) teens until I was 32. (I shaved for Halloween. I wore a historical costume — 18th century — and my ponytail was perfect, but the beard and mustache didn't fit the era.) Many people didn't recognize me.

Life protip: in lieu of anything else, a single dry spaghetto makes an excellent cat toy.
Just make sure they don't try to eat it and choke.

The ones with a big flat plate of plastic that looks like cheese don't work well for exactly this reason.
IME they don't work at all unless you smear peanut butter on the "cheese", and make sure you get it into the holes. Then set it with the catch bar just barely on the edge of the trigger so that it takes a light touch to set it off.
Then again, that might just be because they'd rather go for the bowl of cat food than the fake plastic cheese thing. Apparently peanut butter sweetens the deal enough to get them to take the bait.
What about the cats, you ask? Psssh. Yeah, right...

@gąska Wait, is there more than one gaska? Didn't you post this whole story about how you finished school, went to Chicago, tried to get a job, went back home, etc? Why are you still in school?

I didn't finish school. That was the main reason why I had so much trouble finding a job in the US.

That was... less painful than it could have been. Her attitude was basically, "If you haven't looked through them, there's no point in going through them now. You can mail them to me later." That reduced the stress a lot. There were some stressful moments, mostly related to the boxes of photos turning into a chaotic mess as people were rummaging through them, but not terrible. And we did get through in about an hour.

It's called A/B testing, n00b.
Shave half of it off and walk sideways.

I'm not sure what "handles" refers to. It's a bit weird if it refers to "all the IDs that the OS keeps track of for stuff used by user-space processes", since that doesn't really give useful information.
You might want to try procexp or procmon from sysinternals just to see what's going on.

Yeah, rebooted to get stable again, but prepped an instance of procmon for when it starts tripping over itself again.

Status: I am rethinking my original perception of my English professor. My current assignment is to write a 750 word response to an article from WaPo's Grade Point section, as if it were a post on whatever social media outlet I use the most. After clarification on the definition of 'social media', it looks like I can literally write a longer version of a Garage article-response, and it'll be valid for the assignment.

Good thing you don't need to do it for … 1/3
… Twitter or you'd have to break it up … 2/3
… like some kind of ridiculous salami. 3/3

www.status.com: Over the weekend, dragged my own ass all around the attic to install and wire can lights for my master bedroom. Totally worth it, especially since having an electrician do it would likely cost at least a dozen times as much vs. what I paid in materials.

@lolwhat I'm sure your master will appreciate that.
