The Official Status Thread

I referred to something related to a Firefox-specific bug that happened once. I think it was the small letters one, not sure.
Sounds familiar...

I wonder if I should file that on meta.d .
Worst case would be middle-click not working anymore.

Status: swearing profusely at
myselfmy Exchange mailbox server after the Windows update I started yesterday but didn't pay close enough attention to finished today when I found and fixed a "out of disk space" problem on the C: drive caused by IIS logs1. So then the Windows update finished downloading and started applying because it had space now, and took Exchange offline while it applied the security update. So then I decided to cancel the update cuz it would be faster and now Exchange Transport Service won't start, so I'm waiting for the CU7 installer to download so I can repair-install.1And seriously IIS, why don't you automatically delete rotated out log files like Apache?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I have my preferences set to open in new tabs and I still mostly middle click on stuff. What I hate is when I middle click on a link on some site, and chromes popup blocker blocks opening the new tab. WTF, chrome?
-
My biggest annoyance is links that do things via JavaScript and I get an empty, blank tab if I middle-click, meaning I have to left-click and allow it to take over my current tab, causing me to lose my place
-
The solution to this is to then middle click the back button after you navigate. At least in chrome, this works.
-
You tricked me. Until 3 seconds ago I had managed to never enter that thread.
You could hover over the link and see where it goes, you know.
-
Didn't work because the post wasn't baked yet or whatever. (I still don't know what baking means.)

TDEMS unless you're telling me Discurse broke the browser so that mousing over a link doesn't show the destination in the status bar.

Before the edit, @RaceProUK left out the slug, so the only tidbit of info was the topic ID.

Actually I just moused over @RaceProUK's link a few posts up and didn't get the status bar. I moused away and tried again and then it showed.
Not sure if Discourse bug or Firefox bug. Probably both.
I just reproduced it. I don't get the status on the first try ever if the post containing the link was just loaded. If I scroll so it unloads, then scroll so it reloads, I don't get the status bar until the second mouseover.

Why do
mv /foo/bar
andcp /foo/bar
not work as an abbreviation formv /foo/bar .
orcp /foo/bar .
, butln /foo/bar
does work as an abbreviation forln /foo/bar .
?(Don't answer that. I'm just complaining.)

Ticket came in about a client not being able to burn discs on their 3-D x-ray machine. I connect to the machine and have them attempt to burn again. Immediately I see the problem, as soon as they put the disc in, a label pops up in Explorer. They were trying to burn a previously burned disc.

It could have been been a disk that was unmarked and in the stack of blanks, but somehow I doubt it was.

Ever work with medical clients? It will make you wonder how any hospital or clinic is not a death camp.

I've previously done so, but now I work with health insurers and they seem to be even worse. Though when they make a big mistake it tends to be either paid for something they shouldn't have (thus better mistake) or won't pay for something they should (effectively a denial of care in the US).

It's not the user's job to know if the disc/drive are support RW.

Fair enough. For this client though, they order branded DVD-R's and they are in a huge hat box holder. So, somewhere there is a PEBKAC. Whether it was her or someone else. Either she grabbed a random DVD-R and tried to use it, instead of grabbing a new one...or someone put a used DVD-R back in the hat box dispenser. PEBKAC, it is just a matter of which chair and when.

I suggested he end with that. You are saying that should be the entirety of the content?
I second @accalia's suggestion. That is all you need. Roll with it.

Which is dang near what I posted above?
Anyways, my wife already had that suggestion, the one about it being the entirety of the email.
