LITERALLY!
As I read the quoted post before reading yours, my reaction was "Ouch." And I only dabble in .NET development.
PS. I guess I'm worse--the only production product I have is a spaghetti monster in Swift for iOS. And I'm the only one responsible for that mess.

You're forgetting that @cartman82 is convinced that .NET is dying because it had a major new release last month, coupled with a new version of Visual Studio, and because it's appearing on more platforms than ever thanks to Core and Standard, and is still undergoing very active development.

I'm not a VM!

@Weng Some of us haven't bothered going past the 2.0 CLR.
-
@lucas1 we have that situation, we have a .NET 2.0 component in our toolchain. Sadly the installer doesn't install 2.0 on our servers so we manually have to.
-
@Arantor The only major problem I run into being forced in some cases not to use anything newer than 3.5 is that a lot of libraries I have to hunt around for the older versions.

WHY would there be standards that apply to usings!?

WHY would there be standards that apply to usings!?
Because you've got to use them to create an amusing acrostic!
-
@Magus right click -> organise usings -> remove and sort?
-
@Magus This is the standard I use:
-
@RaceProUK cool, I got it almost right from memory
-
@Jaloopa Yeah, but they have a preferred order for them. You can enforce it with Resharper.
But even then, WHY!? Why would you make that a standard? Who cares!?
-
@Magus yeah, is there anyone who doesn't completely skip over all that boilerplate when reading a code file? That's a perfect example of stupid, over prescriptive coding styles
-
@Jaloopa Unless I'm manually adding them, I have them folded away

??
Oh yeah, that's what you do when you need an extension method or something else that doesn't just come up in the ctrl + . menu

Well I'll admit it paged like a mofo and crashed maybe twice a day, but it worked just fine as a netboot machine until I got my router to provide the service. :P

One of the things I appreciate about having IA policies based on software lifecycle is that nothing less than .NET 4.5.2 is allowed on the systems I administer without a waiver in place.

@TimeBandit how about Win95 on a 386SX-40 with 8MB RAM?

With Win95, it doesn't matter what hardware it's "running" on

Since the last lesson usually turns into an exercise in herding cats (due to the fact that their grades are fixed by now) and they're not that proficient in math anyway, I gave it a "fuck it" and will give them a choice of three movies.
I will tell them that they have the choice between three Disney movies.
Those three being: Vaiana, Dr. Strange and Rogue One.

Only those who are using pre-release software and expecting it to be production-ready. Meanwhile, us sensible people are sticking with the tried-and-true .NET Framework, and doing this:

Status
I just got a "new" (old) project to do some work on and am getting exceptions like this:
java.lang.SecurityException: class "[...]"'s signer information does not match signer information of other classes in the same package
Whenever I fix one, the next run chokes on some other class with the same exception. I suspect somewhere in the process, Maven is eating some shit while trying to install its dependencies. However, it doesn't happen with any other Maven project, and it didn't happen to my coworkers with this project.
So after fighting with this BS for the whole day I installed Eclipse in a VM and put the project there. It worked there pretty much on the first try. So I think my Java configuration on this machine may be dickered in just the right way to make that happen and seemingly have no other effect.

Sorry, forgot about this idiotic thing where they rename movies for Germany. E.g. Zootopia became Zootropolis, for some reason.

No it doesn't. A converted app runs at full trust. It can do absolutely everything it could before. (Well certain limitations, but the point is that it is not contained to its sandbox)

Sometimes it's like a stack, sometimes like a queue, and sometimes, seemingly totally random.
