Yeah, I used that.
That's how I know there are 1000-s of dependencies.

Yes, but if you're looking (as an organisation) into patentability, then you need to be a lot better behaved than that. Patenting things inherently gets the law somewhat involved (since it's counterproductive to get a patent if you won't ever go to court to defend it; patents are very much not a zero-cost option). It's much easier to do services and keep your secret sauce an internal secret.

Yeah, patents are not gonna happen. Only CEO seems to dream of that crap.
It's just a fucking CRUD app, people. You're not gonna patent that. Your customers and business deals are the value behind company. Software is just an enabler.
-
@cartman82 If it is a process patent that can exist in Europe (Amazon 1 click).
Software patents don't exist in the EU, I thought software patents became bullshit in the USA like last year?

Me too, I just discovered it while fudging around the Game Properties pages wondering if it existed.
Mind you: It doesn't respond well to failing hard drive issues, but I managed to coax it to work eventually.

I dare say that the programs which respond well to hard drive issues are far and inbetween. Not to mention that such programs would be the source of many

Most of mine don't care once it's loaded into memory. :P
Then again, they always fit into memory, so

I had to yank 32gb of RAM out of my desktop today. How ever will I survive with only 32gb?
It's had transient bouts of BSoDing and failing memory tests for quite some time. Not sure if the RAM pair I removed is bad, or the MB is flakey, or even the damned CPU is flakey.

@cartman82 More seriously, you better avoid answering this. You don't wanna kill your own job, and you don't wanna be responsible for feeding them false information.

If they did, I'd be very surprised, given my work is on a vehicle parking pre-booking system.

Fifteen years of going to hard rock and heavy metal gigs has destroyed my ability to hear coil whine and other very high pitch noises. A doctor wouldn't recommend it, but I do ;)

Just keep in mind that there are code scanning tools that can detect compiled versions of libraries (or even parts of them) pretty reliably.
So if anyone cared enough to take a bunch of GPL libraries, a bunch of commercial software, and cross-scan the two, they would probably find plenty of violations.

You're forgetting Google's algorithm is optimized for the average user:
- Autocorrect asp and css to "ass", because data shows people are 5000 times more likely to be interested in asses than in css or ASP
- Ignore whatever else you typed there because it must have been by accident

Status My parents were in town this weekend. They told me that a while ago my dad had lost his wedding band.
So last week, I'm sitting in my favorite chair eating M&Ms. I dropped one and it fell into the space behind the seat cushion. I reach down into the chair and happened to find my wedding band.
That's great news! You must have been excited.
No, I never found the M&M.
