Wait, what?!
It's probably wedged part of itself inside something that does the coupling to the audio driver, according to the very unhelpful Google help page. Restarting is apparently the way to fix that. It probably only needs a browser restart and not an OS restart (since other things are happy).
-
@TimeBandit You know why I like iDevices ... they work unlike all the fucking other manufacturers were it works for a while and then turns into shit.
-
@lucas1 Stop buying Linux hardware ;)
My Nexus 6 phone is working flawlessly after more than a year.
My System76 laptop is like 4 yo and still working (and that is totally Linux hardware).
-
@TimeBandit I tend to actually use it which means sometimes I drip these things.

If you use Bing, you deserve the shit results you can get.
Also, there's a next to "Was this helpful?". You can click it so your feedback can be ignored like all feedback is.
-
@Lorne-Kates Microsoft is making all their Windows 10 help buttons go to Bing searches that show a full page ad containing the help content that would otherwise be in a help viewer of some variety.
Presumably because they can then count the search in their statistics and appear to have more than 0 users.
Additionally, I can uninstall Internet Explorer, but I can't uninstall whatever the fuck "Groove Music" is, so Microsoft seems to have done a complete reversal of logic with Windows 10.

This is just an abstraction of the original statement. If you chose to use Windows 10, which in turn uses Bing, you deserve the shit results you get.

-
@cartman82 They're probably still being staged and not actually installed yet. For raisins (probably to exaggerate how "small" the download is) Microsoft doesn't actually include all the apps, and they will get installed after first login, with placeholder tiles being there until the Store gets them.

Maybe it's A/B testing, I did that on my just-installed VM because I know I only have Visual Studio on it at the moment.

Status: When Alien Swarm came out, it had 4 difficulty settings: easy, normal, hard, and insane. Then they added brutal, which is harder than insane, and onslaught, which can be added to any difficulty setting to add more enemies to the map.
There were community-made mods called Beyond Insane and Beyond Brutal, which made the game even harder. And Reactive Drop has a challenge mode named "difficulty tier 1" which rescales all of the difficulty settings so that easy is harder than vanilla brutal.
TIL there's a difficulty tier 2 (although there's no UI for it, so you have to select it via console commands), which means you can now play a game difficulty that's named easy but has 10 difficulty settings below it and only 4 above it.
Although it's pretty much a joke since everything kills you in one hit even if you're a few settings below that.

One of these days I'll get my Iron Man suit....

AFAIK Edge doesn't support plugins, but said extension should be redirecting all Bing searches anyways, which would include Cortana (well, at least once you press enter, the in-line results are still provided by Bing).

@Fox said in The Official Status Thread:

Going to raves is not a hobby.
Or at the very least, it's a very douchey, faux-edgy hobby.
You probably also like
reading poetry</dil>being seen holding poetry books in public.Note: for the purposes of your douchery, you may substitute poetry books for an acoustic guitar.

No, but poi spinning is, and one good place to do that is at raves.

Also, no, to both. I like reading in private, generally.

@Fox And usually prose, not poetry.

That's cultural appropriation. Do you also
paint skulls on your face just to be a dudebro and drink beer at a different culture's holidaydress yourself up in a hula skirt and tell people "aloha"?
-
@Lorne-Kates No, but that's fine because poi isn't hawaiian, nor is it a sacred and solemn art reserved for serious religious observances of the Maori people who invented it.

Going to raves is. Yes. You're either going to a rave to do ecstasy, or to be "edge" and "in touch with yourself" while listening to a casio demo with malfunctioning lights.

Personally, if I went to a rave, it would probably be to listen to music in the apparent company of others. But you're not me, so maybe you're just reflecting?
-
@Lorne-Kates No, I'm going to that rave to get mildly drunk, spin poi, and listen to EDM.

@Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:

I love that the English language doesn't so much appropriate other languages, as it does drags them into a back-alley clinic, slice of parts of them with a rusty chainsaw, then stitches the bits onto itself until it resembles a cross between Leatherface and the thing from Akira.
