Status: Too much work. Too many distractions. Rushing stuff. Some quality code will be produced today...
To my future self: I'm sorry...

Status: OS_VOLUME Data: Failed.
This is going to be a fun morning then. I spent until 11 last night trying to get a Server 2008 box to actually apply some patches.
Also the 10xer thread has made me even more stabby than I was already

status: that fracking hisenbug is back.
the app fails utterly no matter what i do to try and get it to work, but when i attach the debugger the app works flawlessly!
it's just a freaking call to a SPROC! how is that generating a null pointer exception‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽
it's 0900 and already i need a drink....
-
What about falling back on printf debugging?
-
it's a C# Lightswitch application (NEVER AGAIN!) but that might be my only option.
I'm going to cry if i add the logging and the error goes away.
-
TRWTF is Spotify
Always.
Does it still hijack the close button to go "yeah, you don't really want to close me. I'll just minimise for you. People don't close me, I'm wonderful"?
-
There are a whole bunch of apps that do that. Spotify is not the only one.
-

every time i find an ap that does it i do the following:
- Uninstall the fudging app
- delete all copies of the install media
- If applicable destroy all pnysical isntall media
- send a sternly worded from letter to the developer (only to get a sorry you're leaving form letter back)
- find a replacement that doesn't insist on always being on.
if no such replacement exists then i shall find an alternate solution.

I was never clear what exactly Lightswitch was. At first I thought it was a codename for a version of VS.
Try P/Invoking OutputDebugString if nothing else. I do that all the time. Then you can just get DbgView from SysInternals live site.
You're ultimately going to find out it's a null pointer in a stupid place, you know. "That variable isn't even used!"
-
When I was actually using Spotify, I used the webapp instead of the native one. It's crazy that a bunch of Javascript is more usable than a native, installed application but it totally is.

Status: Contemplating changing my avatar to this but I don't know if I'm ready to give up on my Excel-ified Community Server guy.
http://www.fenton.com/new/wp-content/uploads/Coca-Cola.jpg
I also think I have a cold/flu/Ebola coming on. Headache right behind my eyeballs.
-
If you do, you and @abarker can have cola flame wars, at least until he changes his avatar again.
-
We'd just need someone with Dr. Pepper to round out the three biggest colas.
-
Not according to this random page I found:
Which has:
- Coke
- Diet Coke
- Pepsi
- Mountain Dew
- Dr Pepper
-
DR. Pepper is not a cola!
-
Is Dr. Pepper considered a cola? I guess I don't know what the definition is but I always roughly used "Coke-like". Coke, Pepsi, and RC are the three biggest I know of.
-
-
Mountain Dew is not a cola!
Oh, yeah, that's true. I guess I didn't read your post closely enough (first time for everything, amirite?) and substituted soft drinks. Still, you missed Diet Coke, which I thought was obviously more popular than Dr Pepper (before I went to google).
-
Waking up to a very high blood sugar is not fun. I feel horrible right now.
-
-
Is Dr. Pepper considered a cola?
I think so ...
Interesting:
An important 1963 district court ruling enabled Dr Pepper to expand when the United States Fifth District Court of Dallas declared that Dr Pepper was not a cola. This ruling allowed independent bottlers to carry Dr Pepper along with Pepsi-Cola or Coca-Cola, since bottlers could now carry Dr Pepper without violating their franchise contracts, which state that bottlers are not permitted to bottle competing brands.1
Guess I was wrong. Apologies.
-
Diet Coke is close enough to Coke, they should be lumped together AFAIC.
I'd drink Pepsi before I drink Diet Coke.
-
-
I wouldn't even call it a drink.
it is a liquid and is mostly non-toxic so i think i have to give it drink status..... under protest.
-
Diet Coke is close enough to Coke, they should be lumped together <abbr title="As Far As I Care">AFAIC</abbr>.
I can't stand Coke, but Diet Coke is one of my favorite sodas.
As for the Dr. Pepper/DDP thing, my running club (which has soda at the end) lumps sodas into two categories: clear and dark. I prefer to use these terms.
-
It has a completely different flavor than any cola that I've ever tasted.
W.W. Clements, former CEO and president of the Dr Pepper/7-Up Company, described the taste of Dr Pepper as one-of-a-kind, saying, "I've always maintained you cannot tell anyone what Dr Pepper tastes like because it's so different. It's not an apple, it's not an orange, it's not a strawberry, it's not a root beer, it's not even a cola. It's a different kind of drink with a unique taste all its own."[2]
-
It's dandelion and burdock
-
Interesting. I was trying to find out what it's flavored with, but work. The flavor is different. I don't hate it; I could probably learn to like it (at one time I didn't like cola, either), but there are other flavors I prefer.
-

Please. It's carbonated prune juice.
-
Yeah, that's what I used to call it, too. But my (ex-)wife, who likes it, objected.

so does Moxie....

-
I almost forgot that that is a thing...
AFAIK, it isn't a thing on the West Coast. I'm not sure I'd even heard of it before it was mentioned here.
-
What it means to be from Maine?
Wait, wrong drink...
-
AFAIK, it isn't a thing on the West Coast
with good reason.

by me!
but back on topic:

Coffee milk. That is all.

Because it tastes like horse piss? :)
I have no idea what it tastes like, but if it did, that would be a good reason.

Status: Officially sick at home now. Wish I could Kerbal on my tablet. Also, my sister signed into Google on my tablet at some point and it's taking over. I can't figure out how to sign out! All I wanted was to log into my work Gmail so I could monitor some things...
EDIT: Just had to Google search "How to sign out of Google". They tell me to click this circle-button-thingy at the top right which opens a menu, but it literally does nothing when I click it. I really want a clue-by-four to be liberally applied to the face of every developer on the Google team who has done any work at all on Google's account management stuff.
EDIT #2: Really, Google? I can't tap on the button, I had to plug in a mouse and click on it. MOST TABLETS DON'T HAVE MICE!!!!!
-
BTW, you probably sign out by going into Settings, then Accounts, which might be on a tab.

Came into work an hour early, so I'm really dragging right now. It's only 1030, and I'm ready for lunch.

yes, but now you get to leave at 1600 instead of 1700!
-
It will be closer to 1630, but yes, I have a sexist event to attend tonight.

hmm.... those are never as fun as a sexy event....
-
It involves beer, so it won't be too bad...

No, I never had it, no idea if it was any good, just decided to screw with your categorization :P
-
Looks clear to me.

Nice.
