Apparently you did. And it's not just eBay...

If it's slash, it's probably inappropriate by definition.

@CarrieVS I'm waiting for that slashfic you promised!
STATUS I quite like gitflow but it appears to be overly complex for a one man project.
*edit if someone has a good cloud bookmark manager I'd like to hear about it. I alternate between working from home and work and keep forgetting to store my research so I nearly always lose time finding pages. I just need something simple with a folder structure that is easy to move bookmarks around. Most of what I looked at all have this flat file structure that irrates me and doesn't make it easy to organise. I don't mind paying for it. I also need a way to put a wall between my person and work bookmarks and something that is browser independent.

Reading http://arstechnica.com/the-multiverse/2016/06/person-of-interest-left-us-with-a-fascinating-new-way-of-looking-at-ai/Makes me sad that the show is officially done. But it was an amazing show.
Also spoilers, don't click that if you're planning on watching it because... yeah the entire plot gets spoiled.

Blakeycat is so good at eating pills, I think I should give her a trophy.
When I needed to feed pills to my dog, I had to split it in small pieces, and insert each one inside a large chunk of sausage. Whenever he felt the taste of it he would manage to spit the pill in the ground and eat only the sausage. That was a lot of effort to make him eat it.
Sausage is a great tool for making a dog going somewhere or eating something.
-
@fbmac I wish I could hide my pills in sausage :(
Status: Went to take a picture to show how big my pills are and realized my pillbox is empty, meaning I don't get my midday pill today :(

@sloosecannon It occasionally drifted (to me) a little too far into zoom-and-enhance territory, but it was a fun few seasons.
And Amy Acker always looked fantastic <3

That particular image looks like a dodgy ad you'd find on a download/torrent site.

OK, thanks!

Huh? Why? Locking handles are entirely unrelated to EU membership.

@blakeyrat As a former MS employee, do you happen to be the guy that wrote that progressbar?

Is there any place where it is common to have switches in wall sockets?

UK; it's uncommon not to have them.

@JazzyJosh I find it cool that thing is in it.
For those who don't know It's from Tron 2.0 game, which is, AFAICT, actually a canonical story within the universe. It's called Byte (as opposed to the original Bit who could only say "Yes" and "No", Byte can talk and is sort of a narrator in the game). Some of the visuals in Legacy seem to be directly ripped from the game too.
It's a pretty interesting FPS in it's own right.
-
@Onyx Nah, this is Bit. They sent out 'Yes' and 'No' Bits as well. This was all before the movie came out.
I took two boxes of posters back to college because the Knoxville Tron Night pre-screening did not have many people at it.
-
@JazzyJosh Yeah, I know Bit. So wait, Byte wasn't in the ARG? Because I'm pretty sure it was a dodecahedron or similar in Tron 2.0.
Actually, I wonder if it was a octahedron? Because that would be extra nerdy...Bit'strue
state is already an octahedron, dumbass... I blame the heat!

@r10pez10 three of those four icons aren't browsers that have been updated in the last few years.

@blakeyrat we've been giving our dog his medicine wrapped up in a meatball for seven years now, but cats are smarter.
You did not ask for advice, but might I suggest that you vary the delivery. Paté, meat, normal food. Also, give the treat without medicine regularly.
... Or tell me to sod off for offering unsolicited advice and keep Blakeycat's trophy for yourself.

I didn't, because they're definitely not sorted in the filesystem itself .

The first two days I was just globbing her wet food around it and giving it to her like that on my fingertip, she'd lick the whole thing up and swallow it down no problem.
This morning for some reason she just wanted to lick my finger like it was a lollipop which would invariably expose the pill which she then would just lick around instead of eating.
I ended up kind of giving up and just putting her pill on top of the wet food in her bowl, and she ate it right away. Because she takes bites out of her bowl, doesn't lick it like a lollipop.
Stupid animal.

Yeah. I found it much easier to suspend disbelief with PoI than with crap like Scorpion or CSI: Cyber or something. At least their technological hand waving is more of a "ehhh.... that's not exactly how that works" rather than "just plain wrong"

@Onyx I still need to watch that.

@Onyx said in The Official Status Thread:

Except it's not. Or not on this keyboard layout anyway. :)
-
@JazzyJosh highly recommended. It surprisingly light on the tech stuff, but I saw nothing implausible in what is there.
-
@fbmac Obviously yet another case of measuring the wrong thing. There should be a fixed overhead per file for making directory entries, synchronising the metadata to the disk, etc…
-
@dkf well, I only ever used the Mac Air with US layout for more than 5 minutes ever, and I remember it being something weird. Not my machine so i didn't really fiddle wit the options.
-
@blakeyrat there are not supposed to be crunchy bits in her wet food so of course she gets suspicious.
Our two cats love cat candy. I've so far been successful giving them medicine by giving them two candies, the medicine, and then two more candies.
...eventually they will catch on to this as well, I'm just happy as long as this works. So I think the bottom line with a cat is: whatever works right now, use it. But have more than several backup strategies.

How do you propose .Net (non-MVC) forms work without a viewstate?
Do you mean WebForms?
".Net forms" is not a thing that exists, as far as I'm aware.
WebForms will only require viewstate if you're using postbacks-- if you're not using postbacks, then you should also turn off viewstate. And if you are using postbacks, then stop using postbacks, they're fucking awful-- using AJAX with WebForms isn't very difficult.
Yes, webforms, obv.
So rather than using postbacks, which are built right into the forms, I should hand-craft AJAX posts on every page?
Everywhere.
In an application with hundreds of pages?
??
-
@Lorne-Kates You don't have to do much more than putting an updatepanel around your entire form content, in the case of simple forms, IIRC.
-
@fbmac said in The Official Status Thread:
Oh, that's the fucking UpdatePanel.
The UpdatePanel is perhaps the ONLY good thing to come out of the AjaxToolKit.
