We can hope.
Why? Even if the result is "leave" the result isn't binding, but may give the politicians (elected and unelected) something to chew on instead of screwing the rest of us over.
-
@PJH I think you'll find politics will push things to work as if it is binding.

It wasn't a good weekend in Eindhoven unless you are still as high as a kite on Monday evening

Only if the result is "remain."

@dkf As soon as I walked away from the PC I wondered which version I used ;)

Well, there is that, but the real question is what the result does to the Tory Party. It'd be pure time if it wasn't a matter with such profound implications in other ways.
-

Americans:
18 months of non stop Trump panic, Bernie whining, Hillary bashing. Day after day after day.
Then, let's take one week to see through the referendum which will determine the fate of a nation and possibly Europe as a whole.
Waaah! Waah! No one is paying attention to us every second of every day any more. Waaah! Waah!
-
@dkf Either way the Bullingdon Club is running the country.
-
@dkf said in The Official Status Thread:

I think we've all seen this story before; if remain loses, they'll just call more votes until it wins.
-
@cartman82 Americans, at least well-bred ones who aren't Southerners, don't go on social media and blast-out the results of their secret ballot to hundreds of people without prompting. That's the annoyance here.
-
@blakeyrat is it also unheard of in your world to have posters in your window saying who you're voting for?
-
@Onyx said in The Official Status Thread:

If they're not too scared to say it out loud, you're not doing it right.

No, they go to social media and complain about Southerners.
-

Does it matter? The buttered potato has got at most 4 years left - he's said as much himself, and it's not as if there's much of an effective Official Opposition with Citizen Smith running them.
What we really need is
650649 street lamps with a piano wire each.

Do you think recreating the dress from my avatar IRL could help?

Piano wire? That's a bit cruel and unusual.
You garrote with piano wire. You hang with rope.
FUTURAMA JOKE I JUST REMEMBERED:
Leela: I'm going to City Hall, anybody need anything?
Hermes: Can you pick me a license to kill?
Leela: Bare-hands, or weapon?
Hermes (thinking): Hm. What does a garrote count as?

I remember reading someone write that once. He got visited by a SWAT team a couple days later.

I have done my civic duty though!
Wow early in the morning and you already pissed on a homeless guy?
That's my duty as an Irish man not my civic duty. Kick them when they're down is our motto. If they're English give them a kick too.
-
@Onyx said in The Official Status Thread:

It couldn't hurt, for some values of that statement.
-
@blakeyrat said in The Official Status Thread:
You garrote with piano wire. You hang with rope.
On the contrary. You can probably guarantee that you won't only break the neck of someone hung with piano wire. It's probably more humane.
-
@FrostCat Also--have you actually changed your avatar? I'm still seeing the old Gordon T-shirt one.
-
@FrostCat With piano wire you'd slice right through the neck. Like a guillotine but messier, because it wouldn't be a straight cut.
-
@FrostCat Yes? Reload man, reload!

@blakeyrat said in The Official Status Thread:
What's with British people sharing their voting? "I voted remain!!!!! !BLAKDHAK E@ Q@EGQ!"
Based on the "morons who post their votes to Twitter account Blakeyrat follows because he's an idiot", remain'll win by quiet a margin. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST.
I get the same bullshit every time there's an election of any kind in the US or Ireland. Votes are anonymous for a reason you fucks. No one cares.
-
@FrostCat said in The Official Status Thread:
-
@blakeyrat Right. And it's easy to set up the knot wrong when hanging with a rope, accidentally or "accidentally", so you don't break the hangee's neck and instantly kill them, instead leaving them to slowly suffocate. Yes, I was being facetious, but if you tear the fuck out of someone's neck, that's not likely to happen.
-
@blakeyrat Why would they need to? For as long as I can remember Americans have been reducing themselves and their opponents to either Liberal or GOP.
-
@Onyx said in The Official Status Thread:
Reload man, reload!
Oh, there it is. I was sure I'd done that at least 8 times with all the "click here for newer version" toasters lately.
I just discovered the freeman hoodie. but $70's a bit steep.
-
@FrostCat Well right the guy'll be dead, but that's not the point. If you're going to hang him with garrote wire, you might as well get a big ol' stump and one of these:
Because seriously.
-
@FrostCat yup, I caught it on discount, though it wasn't cheap even then.
-

There is merit to what you suggest, but we've got more pianos than executioners' axes. Civilisation…
-
@dkf Well here in the US we got lots more rope than both.

@mott555 Synergy is awesome! Just make sure you grab the Linux packages from the site rather than from the package manager if you're using multiple OSs since it tends to be picky about version number mismatches (and official distro repos tend to be behind).
They might even have their own repos for some more popular distros, but it's been a while since I used it so I forget...

Got a cheap tester just for this exact reason so I don't go out of my mind trying to figure out why the computer's stuck in 10x half-duplex...@Onyx said in The Official Status Thread:
