So it's protected from it's on shell now?
Maybe? But definitely protected from certain bodily fluids that can sometimes make its way to the keyboard (and other places).

Ask them if they want your zodiac sign from when the Zodiac was created, or where the position of the stars are now.
I may get another badge for this, but here goes:
The zodiac signs are not the same things as the constellations that have the same names. There are 2 competing zodiacs: tropical and sidereal. Under the tropical zodiac, the beginning of Aries is the place where the sun is at the spring equinox and has nothing to do with the constellation Aries. I'm no expert in the sidereal zodiac, but what I've seen of the open source software generally computes everything using the tropical zodiac and adjusts for the procession of the equinoxes afterward.

Being dismissive to unaffiliated third parties doesn't mean I won't address the complaint, but far be it from you to give anyone the benefit of the doubt.
As it turns out, I heard something new from my coworker this morning--what he wants is to see the direct deposit net to ONLY show up in the deduction breakdown, and for the stub to say $0. Which is stupid, and how exactly nobody else does it as far as I know.

Seems pretty y to me!

I need to crunch some numbers to figure out what my take-home pay will be and what I can afford to do for living arrangements.
Numbers are crunched. If my estimates for taxes, medical insurance, etc. are close to correct, I can afford rent for a decent apartment, even one close to work in the heart of Silicon Valley, and keep my place here, and still have >= $1000/month left for food, utilities, etc. The up-front money to get into the apartment may be an issue, but after that, the financial seas look fairly smooth.

Your arguing about it being a needs to be more whiny for it to count based on the examples I remember.

Well.. In swedish a 'runk' is a wank, and an o in front if a word usually negates it, so he wishes he were unwanked. Presumably so that he could get wanked, I would venture.
Clear as sausage-brine!

Status: Looking at Silicon Valley housing on Craigslist. Flagged one listing. Does this sound like a scam to you?
- 4 bedroom / 3 bath house for less than half the market rate of a 1 bedroom apartment (The ad is under apartments and houses for rent, not shared housing, and there is nothing it the ad to suggest that anything less than the entire house is for rent at this rate.)
- 3 blurry pictures with the worst JPEG compression artifacts I've ever seen in my life
- The address in the listing is not even close the location shown on the map (several cities away)
Yeah, sounds like a scam to me, too.
-

I'm not sure there are rules.
I was hoping we'd get a chance to get in one last before migration but it seems unlikely.

I'm not sure there are rules.
We could just ask @accalia how she would feel if she were in @Tsaukpaetra's place here.

Nah, you should totally go check it out. Bring with a very high-end camera to take pictures with. They'll probably require a deposit, so withdraw a lot of cash beforehand.

That headline might make more sense if I knew what a "switch OS" was.
-
I thought about it for a while, and it seems to be referring to something that you put behind a router.
-
if I knew what a "switch OS" was.
Since the one-box includes something about "mumble network management mumble," I'd guess that it's an OS that runs an Ethernet switch, but what do I know?
-
Those sorts of things tend to be rather specialised. Most of the
useradmin-visible parts are just high-level control stuff for the hardware side of things, which is what actually does the grunt work. Since the low-level side of things is all reconfigurable hardware and stuff like that, anything you run on top doesn't usually need to be all that fast.I've seen some deeply crazy stuff in that space.
-

An OS for a switch. You are not even trying anymore, Drax.
-
Your arguing about it being a needs to be more whiny for it to count based on the examples I remember.
It is also better if there are a few pages of:
#FUCK YOU
#FUCK YOUTo scroll through. Those are the best.
-
That is indeed what he wants--he sent us a scan of an existing check. Show the direct deposit up as if it were a deduction, and print the employee something that looks like a check, complete with MICR bank routing and account number--on expensive MICR ink, no doubt--for $0.00 and NON-NEGOTIABLE in the signature space.

For all you know, it's a trans-OS, a Linux that feels like it should be Windows (which is all of them, amirite ), you rotten otherer, you.
-
THAT'S WHAT I SAID!

I bothered reading the thing, and apparently its what clouds are made of.
-

Not all of them. Slackware thinks it should be FreeBSD.

I'm disappointed I couldn't gin up some outrage with that.

Status: trying Sid Meier's Starships again.
Kinda surprised at the number of fairly obvious bugs going on, like the pointless eye candy combat mode doing zoom-ins of the ship(s) you just destroyed and watching it clip through planets, or the vortex things rendering on top of planets even though they're on the other side of them...
In fact if I get any good screenshots Imma just Sidebar WTF them.

There's actually some debate about that. Some historians think the time period in which astrology went from a rudimentary collection of omens to a fully-integrated system was much too short for it to have been worked out through observation alone. But my point was that the signs in the tropical zodiac are based on the seasons, not the constellations.

It's an OS that can be a master or a slave.

Status writing the script for the next radio drama. Some of my ex-boss is leaking into this one personality. I've never wanted to punch one of my own characters as much as I've wanted to punch this one. It's a good thing we record this via teleconference.

Also there's a dragon and it's treated as no big thang even though at this point in history, IIRC, they should have been extinct for like 600 years.
Alas it does not run very well, and I'm not sure how to fix it.
