Eating ice cream that's been completely taken by freezer burn. Suggestions?

Continue the freezer burn process to its delicious extreme:
I was considering it, it was probably half-way there (the burn permeated most of the tub), but I wanted it now.
But lacking the correct procedure, it probably would have failed anyway...

I've never tried it, but I suspect getting the moisture content low enough probably requires either vacuum or some kind of desiccant.
-
I have access to both
Why not both? Use this:
Fill the lower half with the usual silica stuff, put a bowl of fuming or concentrated sulfuric acid beside the ice cream and use an oil pump to get a low-grade vacuum :)
-
-
I already have a solution to the problem, and I didn't ask for advice.
-
Truth to be told: It would still have taken a beastly time
I'm also not quite sure how much sulfuric acid would have... erm, 'wandered' over to the ice cream.
-
I now have to try this.
For science!

Yeah, notifications preserve whatever the title was when the notification was generated. It can sometimes make it hard to find the right topic if the title has changed.

Nothing's worse than having the waitstaff STARE at you while you're coming up with a tip.
The longer they stare, the smaller my tip becomes.

What'd that be for? Instead of the PIN?
My Discover card does that at the pump. Visa/MC don't.

I think it's only a matter of luck no one was killed (except the tank driver).
IIRC there is the fact that it's impossible to drive a tank of that model and operate its weaponry at the same time, to do so requires multiple people.
so even if the main gun was loaded (it shouldn't have been!) it couldn't be fired while being driven by a single person.
/me watches teh videos
ah yeah the turret's not even slewing, he couldn't have fired the main gun like that.

Status: Here's all of the pathfinding sets for my current Dwarf Fortress map:
I just need to figure out how to write an algorithm that turns that data into a plan for where to dig to get to the caverns.
-
What the fuck do you need that sort of analytics to find the caverns for? I've always hit the damn things in the course of normal construction.
Or has it gotten harder in the past few years?
-
The biggest thing is that trees are multiple tiles now, so they can easily block your path from an section of cave wall to the floor.

Status: Just let all the magic smoke out of my new half-bridge prototype. Quick test using batteries as I didn't want to cart the lab supply up to my office. Turns out 12V batteries look the same as 6V batteries if you don't read the labels
Now my house smells of burning tantalum.
Of course I didn't buy more more PCBs, that would have been sensible. Bugger.

You haven't heard about it?

I don't know, its getting an array of IComparable in that demo, and is able to guess some parameters that it can demo with. I don't know how good it is, but I really wanted to try it.
They even have a demo of it reading a csv and using that!
Still, I wanted to try it to find out, so I guess I'll do that when I get home
Just tried it. Doesn't play well with Azure Mobile Services (or maybe even Universal Apps) - always tells me "The process has no package identity. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80073D54)".
Makes it moderately unusable because only the most barebone of functions and methods will not touch anything Azure related.
Found the Github issue related to this:
The state of Alive is that it works with PCL code, and works with Universal App code that doesn't touch resources, package nor FileIO.
So, basically, you can't use it with UWP.

It's an ocean of green checkmarks for me.

Yes, well, someone else might benefit from the information I provided. Just because you have your head in the sand doesn't mean everyone else does.

Well I can't access it, or half the websites on the internet: http://imgur.com/, http://wikia.com... maybe someone cut a fiber optics cable in the atlantic again?
(Interestingly amazon.com still works fine)

Status: Tumblr sent me a nag-mail that says if I don't click the link in the email, I'll lose my username. Fine.
So I click the link, and NOW it says I have to log in to not lose my username. Fine.
So I log in and NOW it says I need to change my password to not lose my username. Fine.
So I change my password and NOW it says my account was "compromised" in some vague way and I need to change my password AGAIN.
So I closed the browser window.

I can't think of a funny joke about safe spaces. Someone else do it for me!
-
So, basically, you can't use it with UWP.
Well, its per method, so you could probably still use it for a lot of things... except that it can't handle simple classes apparently. If you write console apps, its probably great, but it's useless for anything else - and it costs $100 for a license.

Yeah, it was compromised when you didn't make sure it was actually tumblr.com you gave your credentials too.

You're welcome ;)

Ok so I failed at work this week and I took next week off so I can sit around in my underwear and stew in my own uselessness.
-
I've seen that footage. I don't think he wanted to hurt anyone. Given that he was driving up a street and deliberately hitting parked cars, he certainly could've plowed through houses.
He drove a death machine through a populated area, where people are in other fragile machines moving at high speed. If you run a red, and you're in a tank-- the other traffic isn't going to have a good day. If you drive a tank into oncoming traffic (where oncoming traffic is moving at 70mph and NOT expecting a tank), yousa gonna be killing folk.
Doesn't matter if he WANTED to hurt people. It's only pure luck he didn't.
Hell, drive over a car with a tank, and you'll probably be popping scrap metal and compressed springs off at high velocity. You don't have to hit a person with a tank to kill them.
-
I failed at work this week
Take solace in the knowledge that they had (almost intentionally) set you up for said failure. :)
Status: Put in a test command on the bot. Doesn't work for half an hour so go to bed. Log back in to find out the bot's been banned because apparently the f**in thing starts working an hour later, but since I'm asleep, it just keeps posting the same message to chat.
Some users play along and mock the bot, but an op (who happens to have an account here of course) decides to just ban it outright, and subsequently ignore petition to unban it now that I fixed the problem.Nice.

Just had to rewrite history for my work GIT repository because i wrote "Fix an accalia in the method signature" instead of "fix a typo in the method signature"
fortunately i noticed before i pushed the commit to beanstalk so no one else ever has to know...

For the future: put a layer of plastic wrap on your ice cream after opening it-- skin tight, right against the exposed surface. Then put a layer of tinfoil over the top, and seal the lid over that-- so that the tin foil creates a complete seal over the opening. The plastic will protect the surface, and the tin foil will keep the dry, crusty air out.
If it's a square carton rather than a tub or container, wrap the whole thing in tin foil, and crimp any edges so that it's air tight.
I have a simpler fix. Eat all the ice cream first time you open it.
Also, why do we have two different emoji for ice cream?

Air is the destroyer of frozen foods.
QFT. Freezers dry the air inside them out, so unsealed food will cease to be nice quite rapidly. (They also don't stop fats from oxidising at usual freezer temps, so many foods shouldn't be kept too long anyway.)
