I wonder if you experienced Bulk and Skull in the womb. Like some parents play Bach to their pregnant wife's womb, but instead you got Bulk and Skull. Wow that's an amazing thought.

Why don't you cross compile?

You'd remember if it had Bulk and Skull.
"after 10,000 years, I'm free! Time to conquer earth!"

And who could forget the classic line, "Hail Lord Fred". It was funny in context, dammit!

Status: Couldn't find a quick-and-dirty automatic soundboard app. So I built one myself in half an hour.
Features:
- No configuration available or possible
- Plays .mp3, .wma, and .wav using Windows Media Player
- Reads whatever is available in the app's directory, and adds them to the UI accordingly
- Can drag new (supported) files onto the interface, and it will add them!
- Click a file's button, and it will play! (One at a time, no queueing supported)
Bugs:
- Requires Media Player to be installed.
- Windows only (afaik)
- Doesn't handle dragging files that already exist in its directory well (overwrites it, and if the source and destination are the same....)
- Darn ugly
Source/binaries available upon request (though... why would you want it?)
-
Next challenge: Do it entirely clientside in a web browser with no plugins.

STATUS If I was a dog they would put me down. I have three types of cough bottle at the moment. Chesty cough cough bottle. Itchy throat cough bottle and drowsy cough bottle. I'm also swallowing itchy throat cough drops at a rate of one an hour. If I wasn't so diseased riddled you could exsanguinate me and sell me as cough syrup.
In other news my unit test endeavor is temporarily halted :( A OMGWTFBBQLITE performance bug has come in and I have to profile it.

I have three types of cough bottle at the moment. Chesty cough cough bottle. Itchy throat cough bottle and drowsy cough bottle.
The chesty one is pointless if you're also taking the itchy one. Dry cough medicines try to stop you coughing, but chesty cough medicines should contain an expectorant to make it easier to cough up the gunk and get rid of it. Pick one. (Though if you pick the chesty one, you may want to use that during the day and a cough suppressant, possibly a drowsy one, at night to help you sleep better.)
However, there's also little or no evidence that any over the counter cough medicines do any good beyond the soothing effect of the syrup the 'active' ingredients are suspended in. Honey has been shown to be more efficacious as a cough treatment.

Yeah, tried Google first. It's probably just a coincidence it's human-readable then.
I'm starting to think it's some sort of custom serialisation :/

Or it might just be binary data that happens to have the right bit pattern.

No gunk coming up though. Just a cough
Why are you taking a chesty cough medicine at all if your cough is dry?
-
It makes the cough go away for a hour. The bottle says dry chesty cough. I suspect that I have misinterpreted something or caught by advertising again.
-
The bottle says dry chesty cough.
Then it's nonsense. There's no such thing as a dry chesty cough. What does it say are the active ingredients?
-
Glycerol BP
Purified Water
Honey
Citric Acid
Syrup
Caramel
Menthol
Peppermint Oil
Anise Oil
Capsicum Tincture
Blackcurrant Flavour
Liquorice Liquid Extract
Liquid Glucose*edit Oh sorry the bottle says Dry & Tickly Cough

Dry & Tickly Cough
Well, all that's doing is suppressing the cough reflex a bit. Which in turn helps reduce the irritation, so it's not a bad thing if that's the type of cough you have. But there's no reason to mix it with anything for chesty coughs; those are where you're overproducing phlegm.
Best remedy will be not being at work. Your colleagues will appreciate that mostβ¦

Best remedy
For UK residents you can still get this over the counter:
Bit of Opium does wonders for a cough ;)
-
Unless that's the 'other ingredients' list and the active ingredient is named elsewhere, that doesn't contain any conventional cough medicines (would usually be diphenhydramine or dextromethorpan for dry cough). If it does contain one of those things, the honey is still probably doing you at least as much good as the 'active' ingredient.
And if I understand correctly you're taking this and another dry cough medicine, which is probably redundant (besides a drowsy one which will also be a dry cough medicine, but it might be logical to take that at night and a non-droswy one during the day).

Haha! Don't you have another "master" that haven't been pulled? That should save you some hours.

The problem with sql null behavior is that it silently makes a ton of common stuff easier and less verbose. However, out noisily makes a few comparatively rare edge uses harder and more verbose.
Most SQL people don't realize the tradeoff is there.

Status: That's it! We've finally got all our instruments (advanced mass spectrometers, accessed via specially configured Windows systems) talking to our data management infrastructure. Every single one of them had a different set of things wrong, from the network cable being plugged into a USB socket () to the router having the port turned off, to the firewall saying no, to the users not understanding that

And now it all works.I don't like Mass Spectrometer vendors. I also don't like HP. Norton also has a special nugget of hate reserved.
I've had enough of this week. Time for weekend!

You are likely to be older than neither of them, as the old one probably isn't more than 10-12.
The new one is new, so it's only as old as it's been sitting on a shelf--it was probably manufactured no more than a couple months ago, plus however long it sat on a cargo ship from China.

STATUS Oh my god I am so tired of bullcrap.
I entered a two tickets yesterday, one to get access to a set of vendor oracle databases, another to a vendor SQL server database.
One DBA says "sure I'll get right on that", the other replies "You need a SAR." And then in his email signature it says "do you have a ticket for that?"
I search on the Intranet for "SAR". It takes me to a document library where the latest document is from 2011. No definition of "SAR". So I ask the PM, who says "oh you need another ticket to go to security".
So I have to enter another ticket to get the security team to approve my access request.
I'll probably need to enter 5 more tickets to do ONE THING.
WHAT THE HECK ARE TICKET SYSTEMS FOR IF YOU CANT JUST REASSIGN THE GODDAMN THING TO EACH GROUP.

Yes, just like daily stand up meetings. Our PM has decided that our daily stand up over IM is to report status to her. And every single meeting ends up as a PDF file on the sharepoint site. I love worst of both worlds projects.
