Um. guys. Can we get together to mow lawns together, sometime, or something?
Since a group hug would be way outta line....
Maybe we can get together and shoot random produce with large caliber firearms? We can show you what you have been missing.
-
As long as we're not hiding in tree stands and attracting them with seed corn....
there's a word for that... besides "cheating", I mean

"Baiting" is the term you are looking for.
But, in all the states I am aware of, it can be legal to plant crops with the intention of attracting game. As long as you call it a "feed plot". ;) And, in some states baiting is mostly legal.
But it is still cheating.
-
If someone wants to bait produce, I have no problem with that whatsoever.
Filed Under: On today's episode of Big Game Hunter, Billy and Josh quietly hope and watch as a distant head of cabbage notices their salt block.

Umm, no, there's a more colorful term...mmm...
I 'spec Hank probably used it in the episode where Bobby bags his first deer.¹
¹With the truck, naturally. (Tying together two threads!)

I am rather surprised that HR did not have them complete the requisite paperwork that goes along with an FMLA claim.
Time == money. They probably had a million more important things to do.

Yeah, if it happens once or twice you chalk it up to "that guy is an idiot". When it hits the point that FrostCat explained, it moves up the list.
For me, if some asshole is exploiting FMLA, they can produce the paperwork. And, you need a policy that any FMLA leave has to have the accompanying paperwork.

I can talk to you about propane and propane-related accessories, as well as fishing with cocaine.
-

I wasn't told the scope of the problem, either, so I don't know if it was 2 people or 20.
-

Who knows--perhaps management knew layoffs were coming in the future, and saw this as a convenient way to get rid of people who were too much trouble.

Here's a combination I find quite entertaining:

If people are abusing it OK, but being a bit lenient if in general it is only used appropriately would also make sense.

I see your point, but you open yourself to lawsuit when you inconsistently apply rules. Even if a person is in the wrong, if they can prove that they were singled out and that others have not been subject to such scrutiny, you can still lose.
The problem becomes compounded even further if that person belongs to a protected class and they can prove that someone not of a protected class did not have to do so.
-

Very much so, but (what I was trying to say was) if you figure the abuse is rare then letting them get away with it in order to not be a dick to the good employees that need it could easily be worth the cost.
-
easily be worth the cost.
Maybe, maybe not. I can certainly see why businesses have such policies etched in stone...

Status: LinkedIn seems to now be suggesting people I might know simply because they have the same name
-
LinkedIn is the plague. They got everyone to join with scare tactics of "if you don't have a profile on here, you will never get a job!!". But, they can't get most people to use their site. Sure, tons of users. Negligible amounts of engagement.
-
I get like 5 times more job contacts via. LinkedIn than any other source.
I consider it worthwhile.

Sure, but I was talking about engagement. How much time do you spend on there in a week?
-
I think I could make more use of it, but I don't really see the point at the moment.
I did only recently change my current job description from a sarcastic description of my job to a vague one though.I still don't get why it thought I'd want to connect with someone who's only apparent link to me is sharing the same name.

Status: just got an email offering some ldap training course called:
"EXTREME OPENLDAP COURSE!"
now i can't decide between buying a wingsuit or doing a course on openLDAP.
-

I ping it once every two weeks or so to keep my account "active" and at top of the recruiter's search results.
That's really all it takes.

Since I am a gogetter now (pro tip: that's how we go programmers call ourselves), can I post one of these too?

[1] You spelled "kickball" wrong.
Also, YMBNH. Especially given how close you live to Green Bay.

That story just about killed poor old Zach Galafinkos or whatever his name is.

What about attending an open LDAP course in a wingsuite?

I think your random number generator is broken.
The point is, they don't have ternary operator "for simplicity", but have something as stupid as goto. Even fucking javascript doesn't have goto.

If you wanna be a fucking servant rat, go ahead.
I'm making gogetters happen.

Status: Reviewing masters' theses. Currently reading one on health applications for mobiles. Don't know where they is going with it yet, but I already found this nugget:
A large number of people across the world have aged. According to UN report, the aging trend of humans can be observed recognizably in developed nations such as UK and Japan [6]. Scandinavian countries such as Sweden, Norway and Denmark are facing similar trends.

Oh well, at least some people haven't. Mentally, I've not aged for decades!

Sigh.
Convenience sampling is the chosen strategy to sample the interviewees in the study.
I have found myself forced to point out to all the authors of the theses I've reviewed this week that "convenience sampling is not a strategy that you actively choose! It is what you end up with when you fail in executing a better sampling strategy."
-
convenience sampling
Did you know that a “public convenience” is frequently labelled “WC”, and is often divided into a section for men and a section for women? Your students' work should only proudly claim to be doing convenience sampling if they're testing what's going on in public toilets…

Have fun!

I specifically did not state which section any particular individual needed to use; I guess that self-identification is the norm in this matter. However, I would recommend that anyone with male equipment use the one with the urinal; it's specifically designed for that purpose and is significantly faster. (It's been measured, and is why there's hardly ever a queue for the gents while the ladies has a queue round the block.)
Keeping up with that thread is a barrier to tracking other threads.
-
and is why there's hardly ever a queue for the gents while the ladies has a queue round the block
or it is because hardly any guys wash their hands, filthy animals
-
hardly any guys wash their hands
When guys wash their hands, they do just that. They don't adjust their makeup too (unless they're comedians).
-
But should not then the queue be to the washbasins and not to the booths?
