Arguing with me seems to be the only reason
someaverage TDWTF forum members visit this forum.peopletrolls
FTFYEspecially strange when people argue with me while agreeing with me entirely.
ACKI'm grumpy.
Did it ever come to your mind that you might visit this forum for the very purpose of getting a pretext for being grumpy? [/x-popular-freudian]

Yes, I need the closure of seeing it finally dust-free.

Gotta admit that sounds really really good - what can substitute for the brussel sprouts though? ;)

My only experience with Reuben has been at Arby's.
I'm TRWTF.

Eh...I've found that taking lots of Vitamin B seems to help. Which makes sense, since it helps your liver metabolize the stuff.

I anticipated that @ben_lubar would prefer using 2^10 as a base rather than the scientific 10^3
of course i prefer to track my data in nibbles

Here's before and after of my desk fan instead.

That only works if you represent the original byte count in base 2. Otherwise, it's less consistent.

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of a small mind, Ben. Eschew ibbies.

Status: Made some changes to my compiler.
Now the resulting file is only 57347875439 bytes.
That's a 10.32GiB reduction!
It takes 20 minutes to compile when the output is piped to

@ben_lubar, it is only a matter of time before you develop your own language that when you compile a program it will include the entirety of human knowledge, and a full install of Dwarf Fortress.
-
I didn't make either of the languages.
-
I know this, I was taking things to their logical conclusion. You use languages that include the kitchen sink at compile time, or you write code in such a way that it does. Soon you will develop your own language to do this more betterer.

We are all happier you killed 10 and 1/3 fewer turkeys.

Status: LMAO because the email domain change was not nearly so smooth as was touted for months of "preparation".
-
I'm sure they prepared in the same way someone prepares to be punched in the face.
-
Yup. We have an ambush message on the helpdesk line that literally states that there is a known issue with emails that may cause a delay of 20 minutes (Read: four hours) before delivering email.

Status: Hot and humid enough that our school counts as cruel and unusual punishment (beyond the usual scale, that is).
I have already ranted about the stupidity of our air exchanger system (supposedly ecological and all that shit). This results in the following:
- Locked windows because the system is supposed to take care of that.
- No windows you could open or vents for the system on the corridors.
- Huge glass windows the sun can shine on.
This means that the air in the class rooms becomes bad fast, opening the windows is only possible if you have a key (of which there are few because "we shouldn't need to do so!") and opening the door to the corridors is a bad idea because the air there is even worse.

We've got cool and humid here. Would you like it?
-
it's better than hot and humid.

Especially hot and humid and low oxygen.

Status: bored while waiting for my program to compile and run, so I went on YouTube. It suggested I watch this video:

I decided to play Minecraft because I haven't played any builder games recently and I was like "whatever, let's do this".
Apparently Minecraft downloads its own Java and doesn't install it globally. Which is nice. Especially for the parents of children who aren't better with computers than my dad. Because you can't install Yahoo toolbar using Minecraft.

waiting for my program to compile and run,
It wouldn't take so long if you did not have wikipedia.org as one of your include files.
-
But where's the fun (?) in that?
-
-
Although honestly, that might be the wrong wiki

Received an email from a recruiter for a position for which I am wholly unsuited, but I couldn't help thinking of certain people here when I read this line in the description (company name redacted in the original, not by me):
design and implement software solutions for detecting and managing “bot” traffic on ’s site.

Close enough. I guess it'll have to do.

People who use giblet SI prefixes aren't allowed to use the Microsoft Store, Ben.

Status: Killed the power and it rebooted like three times on its own and then started up and let me log in and then it waited about five minutes to start the programs I had open previously.
A process named "System" and another process called "Antimalware Service Executable" were apparently both using 100% of the disk the whole time.

For the love of $deity! Will you please turn that label around before my OCD explode?
-
Although honestly, that might be the wrong wiki
So he includes the dwarffortresswiki too? Or/and a complete Dwarf Fortress environment?
(BTW, is Dwarf Fortress Turing complete? I think I've heard something like that, but I'm not sure anymore.)

99 little bugs in the code, 99 little bugs. Take one down, patch it around, 147 bugs in the code.

I made the same application in TouchDevelop.
Surprisingly, despite having 50,000x more features, the documentation sucks even more, and the UI-building functions are weird (a visual editor would help so much). I still have no idea how to use wall->add button, for example, since you can't "box" it so you can't add a touch handler.

Status: You have a grid with 5 columns. You hide the first column (
col.Visible = false
), then display it again (col.Visible = true
). Where does the first column display?Any sane grid control: "Well duh, at the beginning of the table. You just hid it for a while, why would I reorder anything?"
DevExpress grid control: "We'll just plop it at the end of the table because FUCK YOU WE'RE RETARDS WHO CAN'T DISTINGUISH 'INVISIBLE' FROM 'NONEXISTENT'".Fucking Christ on a stick.
