This article edges around the issue, but never actually spells out the solution:
Don't volunteer thousands of your own hours to help some other asshole make money, you dumbshits!
Well, that is one way to fix the problem. But, it really is akin to burning down your house because a door started squeaking.
The real problem is that these sites start out small and close-knit. They build a community around them. People want to help out. To contribute to discussion. To further the cause of their community. To build something just to build something.
But that does not scale infinitely. And everyone will have conflicting points of view as to how it should grow. Some people will grow disillusioned, and the "loud" people usually prevail and end up running the community.
Or, in this case, they appoint a "Crooked as a vacuum salesman" SJW asshole to CEO and things go to shit.

It's slow here today. It only took me three hours to catch up with last night's posts.

Ok look. I'm not going to claim Reddit makes GOOD DECISIONS, because that's obviously untrue.
But these idiots donated thousands of hours of their time into something that have absolutely zero ownership of. Zero. And now they're bitching because... oh wait, it turns out, they have absolutely zero ownership of it. What a shocker.

Hey, it's just like all those people who donated code to Bukkit and then were horrified to learn that Mojang owned it. (In the future, anyone who accepts source code patches and doesn't get a transfer of ownership deserves whatever happens to them.)

You're not wrong, but this point is ancillary to the one you tried to make earlier.

Status: Just read an article saying basically "ZOMG MICROSOFT FIRED WINDOWS PHONE EMPLOYEES RIP WORTHLESS SYSTEM!!!1"
Which was funny, since, yes, the team formerly working on Windows Phone is fairly worthless to keep around, now that it isn't a separate thing.

Between thunderstorms keeping me inside and being exhausted, I chickened out and did more of my usual exercises instead >.>
I made it to the gym today! Except the free weights they used to have aren't there anymore. So I made do with the machines and I'll pick out a different routine that's machine-based for next time. Le sigh.

Status: Plugging away at my mandatory e-learning again after a couple of days where I just did work. Hoping that the system isn't smart enough to flag up that my "learning" pattern is to skip straight to the quiz, fail it half a dozen times and then pass.

The thing that bugs me most about Torchwood is British people abbreviating "Toshiko" as "Tosh" and not "Toshi". WHAT THE FUCK BRITISH PEOPLE.

SHOWER THOUGHT:
I wonder how difficult it'll be for current self-driving cars to operate in England. I mean, is the right-side driving "hardcoded" in the neural networks they've been training for the past 5 years?
I bet the machine can just figure it out based on traffic rules. But still, it'd be funny if Google suddenly realized they must throw away millions of training hours and start anew in order to reach British market.

Your people pronounce Craig as Creg. You have no right to criticize any way of naming people

I note that one-legged black, lesbian, single mothers are singularly under-represented...
At least they have one and a half women though...

The half woman is facing the other way in the paper version.
And FYI Neal Ford identifies and a one-legged black lesbian single mother. Check your priviledge.

...... i think i broke it.

Oops
I always took the "check" to mean restrain rather than inspect.

Deep in my heart, I know it to be true.

Status: Sage have changed the link to their online API documentation again, because it gets bored if it sticks around for more than a month.
This time, the sign on bit is redirecting to a new URL where Chrome's saved usernames and passwords don't work. This isn't really a problem though, since the username and password don't work any more.
At this point, I'm entirely unsurprised

I went, saw, and came back. Now, if they want to ruin their country they have to do it on their own. I won't help anymore.
We brought plenty of cash, which was good because the ATM's were on the blink, and almost no place accepted anything else.

Status: My estimation of our PM just keeps going down.

PM: OK, how about this much more reasonable date?
local: sureToday -
PM: So how about this other project starting Monday?
local: I'm working on that thing you told me about late yesterday. It is ~2 weeks of work. Do we have the files to import for other project because it is like a month of work depending on them?
PM: I can ask for them. So start on other project Wednesday?
local: 2 weeks started yesterday. We need files to import for other project, can't start without them.
PM: OK, so start other project week after next.
local: also I have vacation coming up soon End of the month
PM: can you get other project done before then?
local: it is almost a month of work to import files we don't have and then other junk. Two weeks and change till my vacation. NO!
PM: are you sure?
local: yes, also we can't start on it till we get the files from the customer. Ask for them before scheduling.

Do people ask you if you're a duck in the most cliche way possible?
They did at first school. I punched them on the nose. I'm not as sensitive as that any more.
Status: It was the departmental barbecue this afternoon, with free food and beer and so on. Then I got home, had a beer in the garden, then had some excellent fish and some wine. It's Friday night and no way am I going to work right now.
So you recognize it?
It looks like typical deviantart. Possibly slightly above average.
-
hmm... yeah, it is fanart.
still +5 points to she (or he) who correctly identifies the source without googling.
/me sets out a box of internet pointz on the table.
I'll trust you to be honest when taking these.

That was, well not first mistake, but you get the idea.
*grabs box*
EDIT: based on lack of pants, probably some JRPG right?

It's always bugged me that you can recognize deviantart. It's clearly not all by the same person. But it all looks like this. It was one of my major disappointments with Skullgirls. It's obvious where they found their artists. And yet the UI was great...

I feel like if they hired one of the artists
Alikes to use, that could really be cool looking. <Take that, Jeff! I'll color words if I want!TLUS

I really think it's a specific style-subcommunity you're picking up on -- dA is rather like a box of chocolates in that you never know just what you'll find, and there are a wide variety of styles represented there.
-
specific style-subcommunity
Note: some of said groups are huge or duplicates of each other, but there are things that are in other styles/levels of professionalism.
-
I will admit to having seen other things there. But there will always be several things that look like this on the main page, alongside the emo stuff and character bases. It's always there, though.

Could be a bat wielding the hammer? I never can tell species in furry art.
