emergency notification
With SMS, it shouldn't be. I'd prefer doing the 3rd party web service thing but we already have the boxes and things written for them.
At least after last night, I'm hoping my boss and the PM change their minds about suggesting SMS interactions in applications we make or change.

I think Greece was actually worse and less stable in January than it is now. Although when (not if) they miss that payment in, what, 3 more days all hell might break loose-- hm.

Of all idiotic decisions, we have booked a trip to Greece (As our excuse, we did book it in January, which was before the midden hit the windmill).
Don't bring any loose change, you'll get mugged.

Last I heard, Greece was begging the IMF for more money so they could use the funds to pay interest on loans which came from the IMF. If they get away with it, I'm going to cash advance my credit card and use it to pay down my credit card.
-
If they get away with it, I'm going to cash advance my credit card and use it to pay down my credit card.
Back when I was getting my first CC (and you could get savings accounts with non-zero interest rates) I came up with a foolproof plan to take cash advances, deposit them, let them accrue interest, and then just pay it off.Of course, then I found out (before I did this, to be clear) that CC interest is charged from cash advances immediately and there's an extra charge on top of that. I was sad I couldn't abuse the system (though not surprised).

You mean like Chase's current $0 transfer fee (for the first 60 days) 0% APR intro offer

STATUS: Just used git for the first time in a distributed manner, as Linus intended (added a coworker's SSH as remote and pulled directly from him).
TAKE THAT BLAKEYRAT! CAN YOUR PRECIOUS TFS DO THAT? THROW AWAY THE YOKE OF CORPORATE OPRESSION AND JOIN THE FUTURE!
-
I'm a fan of that feature. (And yes, TFS 2013 can do that.)
I just don't see why the distributed feature is mutually-exclusive with about 57 other nice features every other source control project does. Like forcing interactions to be on a central server, or server-side stash, or being able to check out just one subfolder of a repo, or... etc etc etc etc etc.

Status: I went to the barber today.
Barber: "The usual?"
Me: -joking- "Think you can get rid of all the gray hair?"
Barber: "No problem." -starts stropping his straight razor-
Me: "Maybe just the usual."

Status: downloading a 415MB phone update ...
Seems I'll never have to worry about that. Still on 4.4.2. And the software is up-to-date. Thanks AT&T...

Really? Because I see quite a big reason why distributed means you can't force interactions to be on a central server.
or being able to check out just one subfolder of a repo

It's cute that you seem to think you can get him yo see reason on this (or really, on anything)

Even being a Git fan:

What Git calls a sparse checkout is a crappy approximation to what you can do with something like Subversion.
-
Well, SVN has a bad habit of making it impossible to copy and paste directories between repositories, so you're trading one shitty implementation for another. Personally, I've never had a reason to store multiple projects in one git repository, and if I ever do, I'd use branches instead of folders.
Meh.

Made quite a bit of money on that until the credit card firms introduced fees for balance transfers that were higher than savings interest rates.
Had, at one point, around £40k on cards.

On a wedding. Allready bored.

Maybe you should try being "in" or "at" a wedding, instead of "on" one.

Apparently, Yugo category in races is a thing. As in, all cars are Yugos.

Status: I gave up and just renamed "To Do List.xlsx" into "Stuff I'm Procrastinating On.xlsx".
It's not even 9:00 AM and it's already 76 in my house. Fuck summer. The only way I'm going to get this housework done without pouring sweat is to do it at like 1:00 AM.
EDIT: Oh goddamned, the weather prediction is a high of 91. 91! This is Washington State! That should be illegal!
-
Apparently, Im AT yugo races now, and it's tiny bit less boring.

What do they use as a pace car? A Reliant Robin?
-
This is like 17th time you reference heat. Wtf is wrong with you. Dont you have ac?
I expect that nonsense from us eurofags, not from nice practical americans.
-
This is like 17th time you reference heat. Wtf is wrong with you. Dont you have ac?
No. That's a lot of money to spend on something I'd only need for 4 days every 5 years.
-
Dont know seems they stopped. Maybe they all broke down?
-
What do they use as a pace car? A Reliant Robin?
Nah; it'd just fall over the instant it tried to go round a corner. Which would be quite fun to see actually…Dont know seems they stopped. Maybe they all broke down?
You mean the Yugos were actually moving?
-
Id do a "well theres your problem" meme if i wasnt on mobile.
-
I have a portable one on wheels I got at a garage sale I could try to break-out, but past experiences show it's more trouble than its worth. All the heat it pumps out of the room comes right back in the window you have to open to use it.
-
They still are.
There was a safety car earlier, somebody probably crashed. Or, considering they max out at like 120 kmph, more likely broke down.
-
I was about to ask 'where are the marshals and the safety barriers?', then I remembered they're Yugos.
Where are the breakdown trucks?

My favourite Winchester line1: "A Winchester acknowledges only one 5:30 a day. This is not it."
I actually watched this episode yesterday while I was making dinner. It was pretty good, it's the episode where the enlisted men and officers trade places, so Winchester has to make the slop food.
