HA, my guesstimate was good enough! Guessed the actors, had no idea about the time period though. Well, some time after 15th century, obviously, but that's the closest I had.

Status: Can't believe that no one posted May the Fourth be with you yet.
We've all already seen that lame, unfunny, shitty joke that exists only for morons to laugh at and to give the Disney mega-corporation free advertising 43,327 times on our other social networks, and not ONCE has it been even slightly entertaining or clever.
We don't need it here as well.

You talk like a computer program. You need a vacation, dear friend.

VACATION_NOT_FOUND <my body is not descriptive enough, I think Discourse just insulted me.

Either devs these days are just really dumb
Given what's posted on here all the time, I'm thinking it's the former.
Yes.

Which doesn't happen to me (or I assume @abarker) due to the custom CSS I have for spoilers.
Nope, I experienced no spoiler shenanigans.

I missed the First of May because my wristwatch doesn't know how many days are in each month. It always goes to 31 and I have to correct when I finally notice it's wrong.
Haha! Thanks for the reminder! Mine hasn't been right since February, apparently.
-
Next you're going to tell me they don't measure your pulse and work if you have tattoos too.
Even worse, mine keeps working when it isn't around anything. You don't even have to trick it into thinking it's on a wrist!
-
Next you're going to tell me they don't measure your pulse and work if you have tattoos too.
My $10 Timex works just fine despite the presence of (non-wrist) tattoos. Suck it, Apple!

You can swap hard drives, but not memory? how far apart in age are these machines?
Also, I've never seen a laptop that wouldn't work plugged in even without a battery. I realize that limits your ability to work at the coffee shop or bus or whatever, but it shouldn't be a show-stopper.
-
Also why do "gaming" keyboards need to look like they were designed by 6 year olds? Why can't it be a "gaming" keyboard but look like a normal keyboard?
'Cos you're buying from the wrong people? My Cooler Master doesn't look out of place in a business setting. Ducky makes nice, sober-looking ones, too, just to name a couple.

DDR2 vs DDR3, both on SATA drives though.
Also, I've never seen a laptop that wouldn't work plugged in even without a battery.
It works. But I need it in working order sooner or later. Delaying it won't accomplish much. And since it's under warranty still it's not like I'm investing in an old machine.

DDR
When I was a little girl, I didn't get how old RAM from the GDR could possibly be better than SD-RAM.
Later on, I learnt that it's an acronym for "Double Data Rate" and not for "Deutsche Demokratische Republik".

My Cooler Master doesn't look out of place in a business setting.
Presumably your Cooler Master isn't one of these?
-
I think I saw that glued to a wall in an episode of Star Trek Voyager.
-
Correct:
Although I did replace the WASD keys with red ones that the thing came with.
It's about a billion times better than the shit Dell one I used to have.

Today I noticed someone in my office using a mesh chair. Looked like a Quantum 9000 (Best name ever!) - most of us have frighteningly bad chairs.
I bet a K70 would look fine in an office as well, especially if you disable the lights. My mouse, perhaps slightly less. I'm getting quite fed up with the dell membrane keyboard at work...

All the chairs in my office were shit when I was hired, so I asked for a new one, and got driven over to the Office Depot next door where I picked out a nice, not-expensive, red thing that wouldn't look horribly out of place on an episode of Star Trek, and which looks nothing like anyone else's.
-
That would be cool. Yesterday I drove there myself and spent $400 on a really nice mesh chair for my apartment. I regret nothing.
-
Presumably your Cooler Master isn't one of these?
That doesn't look completely ridiculous. I wouldn't bat an eye at seeing that in an office. It looks less silly than the typical Apple keyboard.

That's not setting the bar very high though.

I quite like the JJ Abrams Star Trek films thoughโฆBut then I never really got into the older stuff.

Two words: lens flares.
Because nothing says realism and portrays how a person would actually experience a moment like an effect that can only happen in the lens of a camera.

that can only happen in the lens of a camera.
Or through any sort of window. Or my glasses. Now I feel triggered.

Don't forget that that's actually a deliberately-engineered artifact. The people who produce real glass lenses try to actually suppress lens flare.

Oh trust me, I am aware of this.

Tell boomy that, he got all pendantic on me. ;)

Eh...they just never bothered me. People tell me that I'm privileged and need to consider other people's feelings, so I thought I'd imagine what you guys were going through when JJ got all that sand in your vagina.

It wasn't pleasant. I got a rash.

http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/30/4788758/j-j-abrams-apologizes-for-his-overusing-lens-flares
I think the best part of the interview is:
"I know I get a lot of grief for that," Abrams admitted. "But I'll tell you, there are times when I'm working on a shot, I think, 'Oh this would be really coolโฆ with a lens flare.' But I know it's too much, and I apologize. I'm so aware of it now."
It reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer and Lisa are editing together a movie and he always calls for a star fade.

George (but move the finger over one)
George sold his share. All that money goes to the Disney giganto-corp now.

He is still to blame, just as I blame Bill Gates for Win8. ;)

A little bit of sand is tolerable. JJ Abrams brought in an entire freighter full of sand and blasted it into place with a piledriver. That's not fun.
