You'll notice we're using S and T wrapping here. This is OpenGL's version of the standard UV mapping you may be more used to, where S is on the X-axis, and T is on the Y-axis.
Gee, I'm not sure I get it. Could you explain using a fourth coordinate nomenclature?

Neighbors are getting a new roof.
Excellent timing, too. Level 3 (of 5) risk of severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts and large to very large hail tonight. Perfect time to have a half-finished roof.
It seems they lucked out. The roofers appear to have finished late yesterday, and the forecast thunderstorms never materialized. We got a little drizzle, and I think I may have heard a couple of very faint, distant thunderclaps, but nothing that could be called a storm, much less a severe one. No hail; no significant wind.

I bought a benchtop drill press. But will it fit on my workbench? None of the specs I could find for it state the size of the base (specifically, the depth). The specs give the overall depth, but that's the head, not the base. The size of the base is what will determine whether my workbench is deep enough. I guess I'll find out when I unbox it.

Good luck with that. That's why I rage-quit for several months a few years ago.

I find the notifications don’t tend to misbehave much, but also I keep up to date on the forum which tends to clear them as I go a bit.
Then you get old topics getting necroed and old posts get new likes which happened yesterday.
I often wonder if there should be a threshold after which old posts stop issuing notifications for likes.

Ah! That's a trick question. With your Delivery Distortion Field, you won't ever receive it anyways.
Laugh's on you! I purchased it in-person at Home Depot. I had it physically in my possession when I posted that.
No, it doesn't fit. The base and column clear the shelf above the workbench, but the motor doesn't.
- I can turn the drill press sideways. This would limit my ability to work on long pieces of stuff.
- I can cut a chunk out of the shelf. That would leave the shelf without proper support at one end.
- I can try to get a taller column custom made, so the motor is above the shelf. This would be expensive.
- I can build a wood base under the drill press to raise it about 8.5". This would be fairly easy, inexpensive, and quick, but it would put the drill press at a somewhat awkward working height.
- I can buy a separate tool stand to take up even more floor space in my garage.
I chose option 5. Enter DDF. The tool stand is not available locally, and it will take ~ a week to get here. (At least free shipping.) I'll probably do 1. in the meantime, since my immediate project is small.
Next question: Does my X-Y cross-slide vice fit on the drill press table?

Ah, good ol' diskless workstations...

@Tsaukpaetra oh, it does have a disk. Apparently that only has the base OS and a mount for /tmp and /var/tmp, though. I've briefly considered compiling everything in /var/tmp to get rid of latency, but that brings other pains.
Also, that brings the philosophical thought: are you really showing IT the finger if nobody is around to notice?

UPS truck is finally, almost 4 hours after the delivery window, across the street from my house. Let's see if the driver crosses to my side of the street.
Edit: Yes. I now have a package that formerly contained (until I removed the contents) a navy tweed Argyle jacket and waistcoat. However, unfortunately, the jacket is defective. (A shoulder seam of the lining wasn't stitched properly.) Currently in the process of contacting the seller to arrange either a return for exchange or price adjustment so I can have a local tailor stitch the seam properly.

@Arantor A successful delivery is more likely to cause an interruption to the flow of snark than a mere continuation of the state of expectant disappointment would.

The UPS truck driver suffered a medical emergency and was unable to complete the task. Delivery rescheduled for June 31.

@HardwareGeek people always complain about UPS, but at least they deliver the stuff, unlike our Correios that honk the car for half a second, run, and write down that nobody was at home to accept the package
then you have to go to a distant correios office to grab it
if it's international deliver it gets stopped at customs for 2 months and you have to pay a 60% tariff

Hey, at least you get a honk. Here they don't even bother ; they just put a "you weren't home" notice in the mailbox. Sometimes they don't even have the parcel they're supposed to deliver with them.
-
@HardwareGeek said in The Official Status Thread:

That depends on your definition of "fit".
It sits on the table. It seems stable, and with a little creative clamping, it will probably stay in position. However, it definitely stretches the definition of "fit". It's bigger than the table and hangs over the edges on all sides. My drill press is 10" (25 cm). I'd guess the vise is designed to be used with a drill press of maybe 16" (40 cm) or bigger.

Even when it needs a signature, it just gets left. Of course, the porch pirate that is following the UPS van then picks it up. DDF invoked.

dunno how frequently it happens there, here dropping it on the porch would look as ridiculous as throwing it on a pool or launching it with a catapult. I guess it's rare enough there if the delivery guy even think about it
also where I live it's rare for a house to not have a wall or gate around it. I had people stealing even the lights out of it's sockets once when I didn't
