Status: What have i started‽

I nearly did that but opted for two three day weekends with a three day week in the middle followed by next week which is a four day week followed by a four day weekend for Easter.

Status: Well, this is new... well, old, but new to me:
Yes, that's an old laptop.
Yes, those are desktop sized RAM modules.
Yes, that is a very crappy photo.
No, no wooden table, I am ashame, but they are all covered in... stuff.

Status: BTW as follow-up to the stack overflow question I asked a few days ago, yes the site has been utterly useless to me. Again. Per usual.

Status resolving too many bugs back to QA with comment:
CNR: If issue is still extant or reasserts, please note any additional details and reassign to dev for further triage and resolution.
these aren't bogus bug reports too. half of them i was standing with the tester as they demonstrated it to me this very morning! they were broken! now they're not. i'm the only one workign in that system today other than test and i didn't do anything to fix these issues.....
i really hope this isn't a "who are you logged in as?" bug again. I HATE THOSE!
-
Can you get the tester to repro on your dev machine? Or is that unfeasible?

Status update: I'm 90% confident that the CMOS battery died on this thing.
Can you see it? Can you see this bullshit? WHYTF is it in there? I have to remove that whole damned metal cover to replace it. I have no idea where to start. The damned thing is actually holding down on the optical drive and I can't see any screws. I think it's physically connected to it, as in welded (or however you'd call it in this case).
Oh, and it's held down with this wonderful system of bent pieces of metal in the corners that are held down by two screws. Remove both of them, the whole thing just falls away.
FML.

Your post directly above mine answered my question:
i was testing in same environment

If it is that old, why are you trying to fix it?

If it is that old, why are you trying to fix it?
Extra cash because some people don't mind it's an old piece of shit?
Also, it's not the battery. All symptoms would indicate MoBo. Chuck it in the bin.

Those modules I took a picture of? PC-2700...
-
-
You don't have to convince me. But if someone wants to pay me to fix it and I can, hey, I'll take stupid money the same as I take the smart money. It spends the same.

Ah, you've been told you're going to be laid off soon? You've been kinda coy about it so far, unless you said more on a topic I missed.
I find the following among my recent posts:

I wish you luck sir.
-
How did you manage that?
I was eating the nuts and raisins that I'm in the habit of bringing to work with my packed lunch, and I also had a cup of coffee in front of me. I dropped one of the raisins. It landed in the coffee.
-

Well, "looking for a job" is pretty clear. I was just enquiring as to the circumstances. "Company's shutting down" and "company's merging and downsizing" are two different things, for example.
Best of luck, though.

Why is it I've gotten like four notifications today that this post was moved by @boomzilla?
-
You've only gotten one, but it doesn't go away because the post it refers to doesn't exist.

Which wouldn't happen if they used
post_id
instead oftopic_id/post_number
.Unless they actually change the

.No, don't even think about it, brain damage abound!
-
-
They do have some code specifically for dismissing notifications if you try to visit a topic you're not allowed in.

Did you forget where you are? ;) Lots of shit is broken around here. I am guessing that they think that if your posts are moved you will not want to know which ones or where they ended up at..because they suck.

I use XMarks for that; I can get my bookmarks on my Nexus 7 and Lumia 920 too, as there are Android and WinPhone clients.

I made 3.
Or was it 4?

At about 1:30am last night I had 15 New topics. By 8:30am it had increased to 42, or something equally ridiculous...
-
Unless they actually change the
post_i....
That's possible. After all, you can get credit for reading a post before and after it is jeffed. The most reasonable way to track which posts are read would be by using
post_id
. In that scenario, the only way to read a post twice and still get credit for it is if thepost_id
changed. Then again, this is Dicksores. They may be tracking read status in some non-intelligent way, such as by using a combination of
topic_id
andpost_id
(topic_id
andpost_number
would lead to posts being mark read which haven't actually been read, and we've seen no evidence of that). If they are usingtopic_id
andpost_id
, thenpost_id
wouldn't necessarily be changing when a post is moved.Hmmm … I may need to experiment later.
-
I don't think we posted that much in One Post.....

TBF, there were a lot of Bug topics created as well.

Should be easy enough to check. I'll add the info to the API docs at the very least.

Pah, semantics. I know what I meant :P

I am revising my prior statement thus:
When I arose this fine morning, to my consternation did I find that in addition to the usual four or five new legitimate topics, there was a great abundance of both Bugs and One Posts.

Just finished. (sorry @tar, I created two more One Post topics :P )

http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/a-test-relating-to-moving-posts-destination/37136Basically, they don't change the
post_id
when moving a post (unless it's an OP, but then you're actually copying the post). That means read status is tracked on something liketopic_id
andpost_id
.
-
When you say you "opened" them, do you mean that you saw they were there and navigated to the topic page so you could read them, or do you mean you created them? I don't know what you are trying to say!

Opera did the whole synching thing first, ages ago
Safari did it long before Opera, if you have .mac. (Back then it was called ".mac". It was "free forever!" for about 9 months before they started charging a hundred bucks for it. One of the main reasons I moved to Windows.)
