.... They're doing a "always download" model, aren't they?
Browsers should send the if-not-modified headed and then the cdns won't need to send as much data, hence lower bills.
But everything old is new again....

Status: Decided to install the latest version of Thunderbird.
Enshitification everywhere.
Thought I could tweak it enough to make it tolerable. I was wrong. Back to my previous version I go.

Exactly. You know the developers know the users don't mean anything when they follow cargo cult instructions, best not let them

status Thought I'd see if "close the lid on running system" works with my new Ubuntu22 laptop. No. Don't do it. Both the u18 and u22 machines require a hard boot. Fine. It's always running, or I shutdown. At least that's one thing MS usually does right.

Yeah, but a button that literally lies crosses the line between only being overprotective and holding the users in contempt. Why would I want software that doesn't even pretend to want me?
Dunno, it seems pretty popular thing in the modern world.

Thatās the point, they are doing that sort of thing to cut down their bills, then āusersā come along and force the whole thing for themselves as āfuck you and your server costs, refresh all the things nowā.
Which strikes me as at least a little ironic if nothing else.

latest version of Thunderbird
I am still using version 38.3.0.
Btw, do newer versions support filters with regular expressions? A notorious spammer sends me emails from faked.edu
domains, and the current version I can just send all .edu mails to spam, instead of those with long character garbage...

From
Contains
.edu
Action
Delete message (or Delete from POP Server)I would think that would be a very basic function that should be available even in older versions.

The implication is that he doesn't want all

Email inbox showing non-zero indicates work, and I donāt like that. Since late November Iāve had one email on read but pinned to the top because itās an important thing to do (waiting on admin input though, so I canāt finish), and itās giving me anxiety.

Status: Woke up to parts of my house being without power. Trying to find the fuse. See nothing on downstairs fusebox, even though the fault seems contained to downstairs lights and sockets. Check upstairs fusebox: Ah, there is a blown fuse. Of course, makes sense.
Replace fuse, then go try and find what caused it. Porch light is going zap and flashing. Culprit likely found, turn it off. Seems water got into it and caused arcing and/or short-circuit. Also, why is that light on the same as the indoors lights anyway? Herp-a-derp... Really needs to rewire the house.
And now at work it seems the SSO is having a fit combined with that I've been logged out of all my stuff, so can't do any work. That's good, it's not like I need to read and file several reports asap...
