Lazy-defined laziness.

okay.... Accalia of six months ago..... what the [expletive deleted] were you [expletive deleted] thinking when you [expletive deleted] made this CAD model?! You [expletive deleted] made it impossible to [expletive deleted] modify cause none of the [expletive deleted] dimensions are set properly, [expletive deleted] none of them are [expletive deleted] parameterized, and the only [expletive deleted] constraint you [expletive deleted] used was locking a point to origin, then making [expletive deleted] excessive use of the [expletive deleted] dimension tool!

Anyways, time to do a Memtest burn in!
Reportedly it passed, but father thought that the message was some kind of screensaver and killed it, which astounds me as it's a multi-step process to quit memtest without the classic salute.
Yeah, no. a Screensaver does not take you through multiple selections, that was pure intention, jerk.
Anyways, gonna take his word on it. So far watching YouTube hasn't glitched out so my hopes are high.

It's PHP. It never forced anybody to do the right thing.

They might simply be clogged with dust. I remember helping a laptop survive for another couple of years by replacing a failed fan and using compressed air to clear the dust out of the other one.

They might simply be clogged with dust.
I've reverse blown into them as best I can without massive disassembly (fuck you, Dell) and the airflow in that direction is very capable of affecting the fans, so further investigation is not prudent.

In my case, since I was already replacing a busted fan, the disassembly was already on the cards. Apart from the weird screws (Swear Different™) it wasn't too hard.

That’s because they understand how much legacy shit is out there that will break hard if they start forcing it.
Think WordPress. PHP tries hard not to break userland indiscriminately.
But anyone with a brain is using types just fine, unless they’re using Laravel where the actual types are buried away under layers of magic so doing the right thing is frequently unnecessary levels of effort.

In my case, someone with worse skills than myself destroyed half of the screws while apparently performing a motherboard swap, I wasn't going to add to the damage.
I'm sure the user won't even notice their shitty Xeon processor is thermal throttling....

As opposed to just being subtly broken as usual?
-
@Zecc it is possible to write non broken PHP. You just have to do it carefully.
-
@Arantor Much is explained. No wonder virtually all PHP is broken. "Carefully"! Ain't nobody got time for that.
-

And people who care about doing things carefully tend not to use PHP in the first place.
-
@Zerosquare you take that back!
I’m not crying, you’re crying!
Seriously though, PHP has a real capacity for just getting shit done in ways the JS world is only just discovering and they’re suddenly mad that we’ve had this power for years.

Someone asked me how to use the swimsuit dryer at the gym, therefore giving me a real life example of how users don't read the instructions that are right in front of their eyes.
For reference: you put the swim trunks inside the dryer, and hold the lid down. Then you take the trunks out.

One of my favorite examples of this are the waffle machines at hotels with mini breakfast buffets. The instructions are posted right above them: fill a cup with batter, pour the batter in the waffle maker, close it, flip it, wait for it to buzz, flip it back, open it, take out your waffle. All the time I see people standing right next to the machine just stare at it when the buzzer goes off. Very grating to my end-of-trip, ready-to-be-home ears.

The what?
What magic is this I've never heard of? I usually dry my swim trunks by ... letting them dry.
-
@topspin they’re in places like tourist spas and stuff so you can change out of your swimwear, dry it to an acceptable level so you can put it in your bag and it’s not dripping everywhere the whole time.
Basically a wall-mounted one-item-at-a-time spin dryer.
-
@topspin it's basically just a salad spinner but for your swimsuit.

I love it when developers wrap things in a try/catch that cannot possibly throw a catchable exception.
