And even worse: I've been told to expect several other Mondays during August.

Yeah, monthly reports due at the same time as the weekly. 😱

Status Pushed change to sandbox. Wondered why it didn't work. Then realized I'd rebuilt/pushed the wrong project/container, the one that didn't have any changes.

Status: feeling a bit under the weather again, coughing.
So I’m lying on the couch, watching the latest episode of Better Call Saul. It’s the one with Walt and Jesse in it, and Walt is coughing, obviously. So as these things go, I now think I have lung cancer.

There was a lot of shit about then too.
If you want modern cinema that's pretty damn great, try watching a Tarantino movie.

Status: Doing the merge from hell. Two sets of changes (one is a proxying system, the other is a rewrite of where in the application data model information is stored and how it is accessed by our classes) that are doing totally different things nonetheless entangling in many of the same files, and we want to end up with both sets of changes afterwards. Neither invalidates the other except for breaking it in lots of little ways. Yuck.

Denis Villeneuve or Guillermo del Toro do great stuff as well. A24 also seems to be above the average.
Which reminds me, I missed seeing Everything Everywhere All At Once.
I also recommend A Monster Calls. Bring handkerchiefs.

The most recent of which is?
There have been less than a dozen worthwhile directors. Herzog and Jodorowski constitute the low bar. Good luck.

You can get the same experience by watching modern cinema, but your way is better

I didn't even know there was a song called that, at least for solo piano. Sounds annoying.

An actual argument on a collector forum:
: $35 Robot 2.0 is better than $20 Robot 1.0 because it has a knee joint.
: But Robot 1.0 has the same knee joint. It's not new.
: So other robots have that! What's your point?
: No wonder "♫♫EVERYTHING IS AWESOME♫♫" is the default response to every single product reveal. It's easier than thinking.

Status: Bought a rainbow clown vomit light-up mechanical keyboard:
Wouldn't buy it on regular price, but it has a promo code (FVJJSMQV) for $30 off, so it only cost $20. Don't know if it's available anywhere else but you could do worse for 104 mechanical key switches.

You weren’t joking.
My initial impression of the keyboard is that it actually looks pretty nice in person. The keys are rainbow coloured like in the picture, but even at the brightest setting it's not distracting. They've got a lot of animated lighting effects that I'll never use, and five settable custom lighting patterns where only the keys you want are lit up. Brightness is adjustable, as well as the speed for pulsing/running effects. The sides are fully RGB, so theoretically I could download some driver and maybe coordinate it with my mouse, if I gave a shit about any of that. Most likely I'll just leave it on the default slow fade colour cycle.
The manual outlines all the lighting effects, but there are also some additional functions on some of the keys that aren't explained, and could be related to the Marco functionality.
Overall I like it, aside from the slight drawback of not having a volume roller like my old keyboard, which is messed up anyway (maybe the encoder on the wheel is dirty or something). Oh yeah, I guess you can type on it. The switches feel decent, not much different from the Kailh ones on my old keyboard. Overall, better than I expected for $20

Yeah I was more pointing out that Steam claimed to be doing no downloading (which strangely means doing a lot of computing) despite actually doing so, which was cutting into the VR Compositor (not displayed, which took the rest of the CPU cycles) and causing major stutter.

When I get that, I usually wonder what's maxing out the disk bandwidth.

🤔 I do believe the main Steam library is on a spinner. could be it.
I find it highly ridiculous that disk IO could cause major hiccups with graphics rendering...

It depends on what's going on. If there's background asset management or something like that. Also, it's possible for interrupts to interfere with each other, and there's some cross-sharing between DMA channels and stuff like that.
The real solution is to get longer term monitoring going on so you can look back and see what was bottlenecked when the stutter happened. I can't remember how, but I'm pretty sure that there's some tools in/available for Windows to do it.

I wouldn't be too surprised to find that the Electron part of the Steam client decided not to bother with such trivial considerations as doing its one job of displaying things, for entirely Electron reasons.
