First on the agenda. Learn to drive!
You can skip this step. Nobody over here knows either.

@izzion Especially in Houston.

But then you'd be in Houston. Ugh.
The parts of Houston I've seen were nice, once away from the freeway. The freeway was absolutely horrible, switching between a monster truck race track and a parking lot, depending on time of day.

Don't forget the high-speed police pursuits. Or so YouTube tells me. Houston, LA and random highways in Arkansas seem to be the hotspots for those.

I can certainly believe highways in Arkansas, and I could take your word for Houston, but I've been to L.A.

In rush hour in Houston, a high speed police pursuit could be conducted on foot.

Of course on the one day this week I feel like being productive, Jenkins is down.

BTDT. The last one had tornadoes that actualized within a few miles (I'm not sure exactly where they touched down, but within about 10 miles (16 km)), but not here, yet.

We lost power for a couple days last year when a bad storm took out lines and a substation. It's a very windy area, but (thankfully) no tornadoes yet.

Ah, it managed to send this. I hope this means it gracefully shutdown...
-
@Tsaukpaetra I like how the projected full battery runtime is just shy of 10 seconds shy of 5 minutes. Very barely-works.

Status Life Pro Tip: before desperately trying more and more extreme measures to clog a tub drain...check if the stopper is engaged. You know, that obvious lever in the up position right in front of you, you moron.

Can you have sexy flu? Like, "oh baby that fever you're running just turns me on and that joint pain? Mmmm yeah" ... not doing it for me.
But I am sympathetic, having had a run of crappy health lately. The world needs more snark, and you can't be your usual happy self until you're feeling better so get well soon :)

Maybe as the start to a scene. A masseuse that also happens to be a doctor, perhaps...
-
@Tsaukpaetra that presumes the flu isn't entirely real and is the plot in a porn movie or something, and that the doctor is going to make it all better somehow. Not really imagining it.

2001 me made some shitty-ass things.

This page has a Microsoft download link for the VB5 runtime if that helps?
edit:
-
@loopback0 That's the very page I found :D great minds think alike!
-
@Arantor probably the first time the Microsoft Answers site has ever been useful
-
@loopback0 very likely, but I'll take it.

I think I've posted about my Domination game at times.
You would NOT want to read the source....
-
@Tsaukpaetra I'm not sure I have the source any more. I can find the source to the first Execution game that is 2 player only and I don't particularly want to blind myself reading my own VB5 scrawl from 2001 but I don't seem to have the source for Execution II :(
-
@Arantor said in The Official Status Thread:

I'm pretty sure I don't have the source for my project either. Not sure why not, I have plenty of other shit I never got rid of, but this? This is gone...

Status: Rediscovered one of my earlier attempts at game programming, a game called Domination! (Not my name for it, that was the actual name of it).
It's an adaptation of a board game:

I think it's pretty fun, but since I hadn't made any kind of AI it does require another player minimum,,,

Fortunately, there are some VB decompilers

@Zerosquare pretty sure I don't want to either ;)

decompilers
The code was already shit, you want the experience of reinterpreted shit?
-
@Tsaukpaetra Maybe the decompiled code will be better than the original? Though that would require the original to be awful.

It might be awful. It might be "clever". I don't remember, except that each of those "cells" are actually buttons that have custom dynamically-generated background images, stored in a table layout grid and referenced by Cell into 3-d arrays that hold the actual data and hand-synced after each action.
Feel free to decompile it and find out what the compiler spat out though! It should be a debug build if memory serves so rate of success is unreasonably high!

Status: AC is out at the office, working has slowed down since it hit 80°F. Boss is out of the office today too so no clue when someone might be able to get in to look at it.
Ordered delivery for lunch, map showing the delivery contractor's location showed them go to the area of the restaurant and then roughly to the right area to deliver it, then the order was marked as delivered without it arriving, so I had to complain to get a refund.
Today is just not my day. Have to hope it gets better after work.
