Well, one of the more important sins. The "Once a reference always a reference" aspect is just Crisco on this burnt brownie...

Most users would probably expect the following to work, which conflicts with that:
/* $var is unset */ if ( condition ) { $var = "foo"; } else { $var = "bar"; } /* Utilise $var */

Haha, they're coming to take me away,
Ho ho, hee hee, ha ha,
To the funny farm

And I'll be happy to see

If you do, thread me your thoughts... uh.... somewhere.I may pay the thread tax if people are actually interested.

WhyTF can't github tell my browser how big the zip of a repo is going to be before (or while) I download it? 2.1GB and counting.
Edit: Done. 2.97 GB.
Edit2:
Edit3: 7-zip was able to open it without error, although there was an error extracting one of the files (or it gave up trying to extract the rest). Fortunately, it was a file I don't particularly care about. Unfortunately, the program that is supposed to use the files I do care about doesn't. I was able to get it to acknowledge the file's existence, once I finally pointed it to the right directory. (E:, not C:) But it won't actually do what it's supposed to do with it.
-
Because they're probably generating the ZIP files contents on the fly, and don't cache the results (or maybe they do, but they're too to send the size even when it's known beforehand).

Or, for that matter, resurrect it from source control history.
Code which is not currently used and not planned to be used in a foreseeable timeframe are considered a security issue under our policies.

First of all, of course the Office bullshit from a week ago was of course not magically resolved, having suddenly come back in an entirely different form. After trying to do a “full repair” it of course nuked itself off the disk entirely, again.
Also I was trying to walk amidst some partial flooding, so naturally both ends of the street were flooded and I had to walk through that.
Then much later, an hour or two wasted with some programming fuckery
that was in the end mostly my own fault.blergh. Now I gotta pretend to do something enjoyable tonight without fretting about “important” matters. blerrrgrhghghhg

I was involved in a spin of this once. There was a feature that was used constantly but never complained about. The last piece of work for it was about a year previous to me joining and I was there for about a year-ish. The company decided to remove serval features that weren't in use to try to clean up the codebase a bit so this among others were marked for deletion. About two weeks from release someone finally ran the list of changes across a user.
Oh don't delete that. We use that all the time.
Really. We never hear about it?
Only bit of the product that works as intended. We managed to restore it without breaking it.

In our case, we're certain it's not being used; it's never been deployed with the API key that it would need to be able to actually function correctly (if it even worked in the first place, which was severe territory).

I've had Teams cut out a bunch, but usually only on wifi, which I blame on my home network's janky setup. Wired, I've found it to be solid and reliable
-
@hungrier I join Teams calls from my phone and generally it's reliable both on wifi and cellular but the odd issue that does happen seems to be more network related than Teams itself.
