Status: Spent 30 minutes trying to track down the reason why a particular API call kept returning invalid values for two particular elements of the data structure (ie always null and false, respectively).
The reason? The data structure had those as the defaults, and the constructor didn't take those as parameters. And they weren't being set anywhere else, either. And since this is the ticket I'm working on (to add this particular API call), the blame is 100% on me. Sigh. Such effective. Much competent.

@dkf I've been noticing the seniority paradox. I'm "not senior enough" to do new development. But thrown head first into somebody else's mess and on a short time table to boot, sure, why not?

Bad news in an API tho. Not letting invalid instances exist is kinda the point of a constructor. But defaults that break stuff are a decent half- measure.

@error_bot 4021 times the street price of blow in DC too. Dunno how much 7.5 milligrams of hooker costs though, and the hooker part of the hooker-to-blow ratio by weight definitely dominates.

This will have to do for now, but I will still have to find how I can change the colors of the {minimize, restore, close} buttons:
#titlebar > toolbar { background-color: -moz-accent-color !important; } .tab-background:is([multiselected="true"], [selected="true"]) { background: lightgrey !important; } .tab-background:not([multiselected="true"], [selected="true"]) { background: -moz-accent-color !important; } .tabbrowser-tab:hover > .tab-stack > .tab-background:not([selected="true"], [multiselected="true"]) { background-image: none !important; background-color: color-mix(in srgb, currentColor 11%, transparent) !important; } .tabbrowser-tab:is([multiselected="true"], [visuallyselected="true"]) { color: inherit !important; } .tabbrowser-tab:not([multiselected="true"], [visuallyselected="true"]) { color: white !important; }
They better not drop supporting userChrome.css any time soon

You're in a hellhole of bad practice.
Respond by asking for a meeting with “key stakeholders” to get their buy in for having you work on the project. Or something else very meta and not so useful for delivering code.
Or develop code anyway, but claim that you're just doing a prototype/mock-up of the solution that the needful doers will crank out at the appropriate time, making sure to actually let the end users get a copy of your code so that they know what it should be, all in the name of “getting stakeholder feedback”…

Status: 03:30 local time. Awake and reading the forum. Went to be very early, because I was so sleepy I couldn't keep my eyes open. Woke up; couldn't get back to sleep. Does not bode well for productivity on the job today, although yesterday actually had above-average productivity despite lack of sleep previous night.

@error what kind of code is that?
Or is that just noise so you can't see through the folded paper? Doesn't look like there's interesting PII on the opposite side.

That's interesting. On the one hand, it ensures "if you want something done right you have to do it yourself", so you actually get it done. On the other hand, you have to do all the work in less alloted time than required for it and get none of the recognition, while all the needful-doers get praise in the end.

It looks like a low-resolution, 1-bit dithered low-contrast photo of two pills to me.

Huh. So I found some promotion where the pharmaceutical company will give me the drug for free (or, thankfully, reimburse me, since I already bought it).
And now it's looking like some kind of scheme to eliminate patient deductibles in exchange for getting hooked on their new drug.

See, this is why I don't watch dystopian TV series like Black Mirror. Reading people describe what's considered normal in the USA is enough.

Maybe I'll get it by Wednesday.
And so it continues:
Did anyone think it was going to arrive today? The order status page still says today (except it now says "Package 5 of 7"), but it's 21:30 local time, and I ain't holding my breath.
Delayed. No shit.
Got an email from Walmart saying part of my order has been delivered. For an item that was delivered Friday.
Still no grill. Got a voicemail from somebody at the local store yesterday. Called back. The grill was originally supposed to be shipped from a warehouse somewhere, then changed to delivery when the online order process found it in stock at a local store; however, the local store apparently thought I was going to come pick it up, and it's just been sitting in their back room since Friday. Customer service person was going to check to make sure it was still there and call me back, but didn't. I called later and spoke to someone else, who walked across the store while talking to me on the phone; yep, it's still there. She was going to try to arrange another delivery driver (in her words, "Oversize deliveries are often a bit wonky."), and it should be here today; if not, I'm supposed to call back tomorrow. (Note: Today is when it was expected to arrive if it had been shipped from the warehouse in wherever, per the original order, instead of being delivered "early" from the local store.)
I generally ignore their requests to rate their online ordering experience, but I'll sure respond to this, if I get one.
Edit: More emails. Four items have shipped, including the mesquite wood chips I got Monday. Not including the grill.

Status: I have a fabric storage cover for the grill. It wasn't expected to arrive until tomorrow, but whatever.
At least I think that's what I got in the mail today. It's from a 3rd-party seller, so there's nothing on the shipping envelope that says Walmart. (The seller/shipper doesn't have their company name in the return address, either, just "Dept CA", or something like that.) There's no packing slip with it. There's no name or description on the product package or instructions. In fact, there's no product package or instructions at all, just a zippered fabric pouch to put the cover in when you're not using it (and I'm assuming it's one of those things that you will never again be able to fold so it fits back into its original pouch), with not even a brand name on it. For all the product identification it has, it might as well be something my grandmother made.
