How can you be sure? Have you tried? Stop this uncalled Excel bashing!Yes, I have. It was nigh-unkillable until it discovered there was more than some number of rows.

I have some instrumentation on the bot now:

@Zenith As a "parting gift," they locked my account this morning while I was talking to a recruiter so I had to drive across town to connect to my parents' modem to do the password reset.

Status: Came within 1 person of passing Wormhole (the hardest mechanic in the hardest fight currently in the game) on our first pull of the night. Never got back to that level of clean on it, but at least got 8 out of 20 pulls to it tonight and ironed out a few kinks. Sooooo close to phase 4 I can taste it.......

Procedural generation is easy. Procedural generation that produces a pleasing result is much harder.

Also, I wonder if the online is going to be just as janky as it was when Demon's Souls originally came out, and how long until the first duping glitch is found.

Yea! And it's back!

Ah. Thanks for putting the machine back as I had it repair people... (enables option, boots)
edit: Then re-registers my fingerprint.

@ChaosTheEternal So, in case anyone cares, the reason the trailer was pulled is because at the end it "mistakenly" showed details suggesting that Demon's Souls would also be coming to PC and other platforms.

status brain is in full meltdown.
Figuring out translations and why they're not working, and going
at what the last people did on this issue took 4.5 hours.
The work for the ticket was already done. Except it didn't work. Oh, and no one realized it had already been sort of done, so had to dig through the repo. Except now I'm supposed to decide on a new paradigm (we like that word here) to do this right. When I can barely figure out how to do it at all.
Oh, and co worker's merged PR broke my local dev environment, because he made database changes that aren't present in my local copy. So now I have to figure out exactly what and replay those changes locally. Fun times with source control.

status ARG! Walked the dogs before lunch - hm, car looks funny. Crap. Back tire is flat. And I have to hook up my trailer for a show this weekend. Spare is now on, just have to find a place to patch a nail hole - nail is still there.

@dcon said in The Official Status Thread:

Just buy a tire repair kit
Ex.:

-
@dcon Last time I had a puncture, I went to the America's Tire at ECR and Grant. They fixed it free, and I didn't even buy the tire there.

I just went to S&S Tire in Sunnyvale (ECR and Murphy). Google showed them with a 4.5 star rating.
Took about an hour (everyone was still out to lunch when I got there). They even figured out where the spare lives (its little hidey-hole - Subaru Outback - in the floor of the luggage area), found the clamp (which I had tossed to the side of the car), and put everything back!

But was productive. Even if I totally blew the time estimate on that ticket. It was much more complex than anticipated, plus a couple consults about how exactly we wanted to move forward.
And the next ticket (a follow-on) should take very little time at all because it leverages the work I did on this one.

Get used to it.

What's wrong with you today, Wikipedia?
Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.
It was much more complex than anticipated, plus a couple consults about how exactly we wanted to move forward.
Get used to that too. In my experience, it happens more often than not, and I'm not exaggerating.

Status: Don't know WTF is wrong with this PC within the last couple of weeks. It's started to become intolerably slow for no reason. The situation improves when I shut off Chrome and Brave but it's still mysteriously slow.
Reasons I suspect a virus:
- It keeps "mysteriously" forgetting my DNS settings. I had added Cloudflare because CenturyLink just kept constantly timing out but I have to keep readding it because it keeps disappearing.
- The page file suddenly became fucking huge, like 8GB huge, for no reason. I'm also sure I had moved it off the C drive to keep it from killing the SSD but there it was on the C drive.
But AVG can't find anything, Avast can't find anything, and MalwareBytes locks up about halfway through its scan.
Other strangely sudden behaviors:
- Embedded YouTube videos really drag down FireFox for 20 seconds at load time. It's like they're trying to punish me for not using Chrome even on non-Google sites.
- uBlock origin, and whatever variant Brave uses, can't seem to catch popups sometimes. It's like they're just too slow sometimes and stuff they usually catch blasts past them.
- Brave constantly loses focus at the window level. I have 5-6 windows open with different sets of tabs. The one I'm looking at will just randomly disappear. It's still open and selected in the jump list though.
Strange but harmless and not new:
- For some reason, if SQL 2000 has had a table open for awhile, adding/editing a row locks the entire computer for 20 seconds (yes, it even beeps if I try to do too much while it's locked up). It is bizarre, and I don't remember that happening when I used it for work years ago, but it has had that behavior ever since I installed it at home. However Windows 7 fought me every step of the way during installation so I know it's angry.

Also apparently the German lyrics are different (for original Duck Tales anyway) rather than just a translation of the English lyrics?

Yes, a few lines are translated as good as the music allows, the rest is different. Presumably because when the song doesn't make too much sense anyway, it's better to preserve the rhythm/whatever than to try and force an awkward translation in.
