status That was one of the stranger questions I've gotten... A friend messages me an image of a TurboTax CD - says shes has a bunch of them. Can she just throw them away or is there personal information on them.
I fielded a very similar question recently....
I don't think it's that strange for a layperson not to know which media are readonly vs read-write, especially when rewritable discs are a technology that exists (though it would be a to use it that way).

Don't many modern shredders take CDs as well?
-
Status: I got a very long thread closed and deleted on a different forum. All I did was ask "Why are all of these big chains saying they'll collapse if everything doesn't reopen after six weeks? Didn't they save six months of expenses like people are constantly told to?" It was a serious question. Do bigger businesses fly by the seat of their pants like smaller businesses often have to?

status I don't think I'll install even numbered doxygen builds anymore... 1.8.16 and now 1.8.18 both die. (looks like I may be hitting a bug that's now marked as fixed - I crash when it starts processing enums)
Just like Windows. Never use the even numbered builds. Or was it the odd numbered ones?

Depends on the business but usually the actual cash reserves are not that large.

I don't either. Are you putting words into my mouth? I eat those you know...

TRWTF is Markdown+HTML.

@error I remarked that I had a similar question asked of me, not that it was also strange in my eyes.
Also see edit above. 😉

Making donuts. Yeast-raised. Currently resting in the fridge for tomorrow. To be coated with pumpkin spice/sugar. And eaten in front of my students, with relish (the emotional meaning, not the food).

Regular tech support is already painful enough. I don't want to know what BDSM tech support is like...

Probably somebody had a breakpoint on that line.

If someone tells me how to breakpoint Arduino code, I'd kiss them!

Just use RTX Voice and never take off your headphones!

OK back.
I had to unbrick her phone. Which would have been quick except the firmware download took 4 hours (no exaggeration).
Honestly, I think she was lonely and wanted company. Quarantine has hurt her business as much as anybody.
-
Status: Speaking of phones and heads, I think my stupidly-expensive (in my eyes. is $75 for earbuds reasonable?) in-ear headphones seem to have stopped registering lower frequencies. Either that or my eardrums have been damaged for about a week now in an unusual way.
I don't have any calibrated equipment to test either though, so the mystery will remain unresolved...

I'm rocking Shure SE535s with the bluetooth upgrade. ($500+$50)

Whereas 1.8.17 is plainly written by someone who doesn't understand the type system of either C or C++.

AIUI, doing that sort of thing on embedded-class systems involves JTAG. Never understood the details. (Main thing I know is that we can't use it on our kit once it it is deployed, at which point I lose interest in the rest; my code basically doesn't run usefully on bench test boards.)
Social distancing requires that I reject being kissed by people outside my immediate family.

Ah, not to worry, you didn't tell me anything, just a hand-waving suggestion of a rabbit-hole. Your lips are safe from me.

For wireless bluetooth ones? That is (excluding special store deals) about where you stop getting absolute crap.

@Tsaukpaetra That's getting expensive for wired ones.

I assume it's copper. It's green residue caused by the interaction of myself and the metal.

Odd-numbered. 1803, 1809, 1903, 1909, 20H1... The ones inbetween are fine.

If it's copper it's not rusting. It might be oxidising though.

Burning and rusting are types of oxidising. Burning tends to involve flames. Rusting involves forming hydrated iron (III) oxide. </>

I have a keyboard like that, and I've found that rubber dampeners both make it a bit more comfortable to type on, and slightly less noisy

I got a set off Amazon a little while ago for ~$40 CAD, and it's not a huge step down from the ($100+) JayBird ones I had before that broke
