I can't order books by anything other than size (mainly height). And then author. Because it offends my CDO to do otherwise.

Reinstalling the IDE, the libraries, and rebuilding everything. Yup.
Still got random crashes in code that absolutely smell like memory corruption due to ABI mismatch. Just for the life of me can't figure out why. I've gone so far as to suspect weird shit like it loading wrong libraries from random locations of all the garbage (VPN, video conf etc.) I've recently installed, but it looks like the correct libraries are loaded.
Either that, or my hardware is dying due to heavy use, but let's not even think about that right now.Related Status: It's 10:30pm, and while I've got nothing better to do, it's frustrating and I should stop working.

Ah, so Nope then. You obviously don't know what "nuke from orbit" means if you expected "just reinstalling some programs" was what was meant.

Hence the "Nuke from orbit" bit there.
-
@Tsaukpaetra well, I'm not exactly looking forward to it if I can avoid it (and I need all that garbage now), but nuking from orbit may actually be the next step.
Currently waiting for RDP/NX to come back up, so I can just do everything remote again.

@HardwareGeek said in The Official Status Thread:
TL;DR: On the way to TX, 3 days behind schedule and without my dog
After two mostly uneventful days of driving, we're in AZ, in a Motel 6 between Phoenix and Tucson, the same one I stayed in when I first drove to TX in November. It's a Motel 6; it's clean, comfortable, and they left the light on for us. And it's a huge improvement over the place we stayed last night.
I bypassed LA traffic — it wasn't a problem in November, but I went through LA pretty late at night then; I probably would have hit at least some heavy traffic yesterday — by what I think wasn't the route I intended to take, but it seems every time I diverge from Google Maps' plotted route to take a rest stop, refuel, or whatever, it reverts to the default route. By the time I realized it was taking me through LA, I think I'd already passed the route I really wanted, so it didn't show it as an option. The route it gave me would have been scenic, except that the sun set fairly soon after we turned off onto the bypass route, so it was too dark to see most of it.
Anyway, we made it as far as San Bernardino before deciding to stop for the night. My son was calling to make a motel reservation. The first place he called didn't answer the phone. The second didn't have (or at least the person answering the phone didn't think they have) parking to accommodate our big truck. I could have continued a few more miles to the place I stayed in November, but I didn't remember any truck parking there, and it was far enough away that it didn't show up in the Google results. The third place my son called had a room available and truck parking, so we made a reservation there. It was just a few minutes away at that point.
When we arrived, the outside looked nice enough, although their "truck parking" consisted of a second parking lot that was empty enough that we could take up several spaces without bothering anyone else. The lobby was spacious but a bit shabby. The reception desk was enclosed by thick glass with a little grille to talk through. A sign on the glass said that a $50 cash deposit was required, and when I paid with a credit card, this was apparently such an infrequent occurrence that the clerk had to call someone to ask how to process it.
We went upstairs to our room. It was clear that it had once been a nice, perhaps even elegant, hotel, situated on a hill with a sweeping view of the city below. There were meeting rooms and a once-elegant ballroom with crystal chandeliers. But it was even more clear that elegance was long-gone.
Every room had a "No Smoking" sign on the door, but the hallway reeked of years of smoke of various sorts (and perhaps other things I'd prefer not to think about), and was populated by people who appeared to be of a low socioeconomic class wandering from room to room, engaging in loud conversations (and probably other activities it's safer not to notice; my son told me he overheard a couple of people talking about scoring some drugs, and I'd guess they probably didn't need to leave the hotel to do that). The room upstairs sounded like a WWF wrestling match was taking place. Broken fixtures. Only two hand towels; no bath towels or washcloths. Mold in the bathtub. Mold in the cabinet under the sink. And much more.
In short, by far the sleaziest motel I've ever stayed in. It has some very good reviews online, but those are all 5+ years old; about 5 years ago the reviews suddenly turn very negative. I strongly echo the words of one reviewer, "No. Just...No."
After leaving hastily in the morning, the drive was uneventful. And here we are.

Military term used to describe the low grade toilet paper found in the MRE (Meal Ready to Eat) accessory packet. Called so because it’s rough, tough and don’t take shit off of anybody. Can also be used in place of extra fine grit sandpaper when refinishing furniture.

Status: In TX. We have probably a full day drive yet to go before we're home — Google says about 7.5 hours, but the truck won't manage the full highway speed limit most of the time, and I'm planning to stay on the interstate instead of shortcutting through some lesser rural roads that Google is directing me to, so probably about 9 hours, I'd guess — but we're in TX. Fewer and shorter rest stops today than when I drove in November, so despite the truck having a top speed well below the speed limit, we made up at least half a day of the delay. We should be able to spend tomorrow night in our own house — probably on mattresses on the floor, because almost nothing else will be unloaded from the truck, but still home sweet home.

That's not good. Make sure it doesn't lead to DVT. Because that can lead to a pulmonary embolism. And believe me, that's not fun.

You just need to figure out how to promote the "sleep" status from the leg to the core module

I've had plenty of that boring emptiness along I-10, but in this case, staying on the interstate means going through a large city I wouldn't go through if I took the more direct shortcut, then taking a heavily traveled corridor between that city and my destination. But in a big truck, I'm more comfortable driving in traffic than on two-lane roads with nothing but a painted line between me and oncoming traffic with a relative speed >130 mph.

Don't need to know the issuer as only the issuer will accept it. And hashed data often looks like garbage (hint: username)

status spent the last 2 hours trying to remove spurious alpha channel information that had crept into an image layer without changing the RGB channels. Which GIMP steadfastly refuses to do. You can do it by compositing the layer with a solid color, but that fades out the original colors. So now I'm recoloring that whole layer. Which sucks, as that took me hours before. It's a huge, detailed map of the elevation of my entire homebrew world.

-
@Benjamin-Hall maybe I’m misunderstanding, but I seem to remember that you can directly paint on the alpha channel in GIMP. Or, alternatively, you could just load the image using your favorite programming language / framework and set the alpha value to 1 for each pixel.
-
@topspin not that I could find. And it's all one big multi layer image with terrain, political, and climate maps as separate layers over the same background, so exporting it to a separate image would mess everything up.

And that was with only 7 devices connected to the stream. My bigger classes are twice that.
