Status: Got a good deal on a used computer and 4 disk RAID enclosure filled with 2 TB drives. My plan for what to do with it:
- swap the RAM with my main computer. I've got 8 GB (2x4) and only two RAM slots, and the computer I just bought has 2x8
- attach the aforementioned RAID thing and throw my media on there
- use the computer as a media and file server
- maybe hook it up to my TV and sound system, and use it as an HTPC and/or Steam game streaming machine

Status: The universe seems to hate me. I decided to try to motivate myself to learn typescript and nodejs. Installed all the tools and opened a new project in Visual Studio 2019. Tried to build. Got "typescript compiler not installed". Despite having just installed it globally. And having installed the typescript package.
Accurate depiction of my reaction (including body shape):

That's the worst part. I literally can't see the difference. One of 'em is in C# and the other has the exact same logic in Kotlin, and the one works perfectly and the other's giving me

I'm wondering if some sort of session preservation isn't happening in the non-working one? Are you dropping cookies?
-
@Tsaukpaetra I was before, which was quite the fun realization - I don't know what the fuck kind of HTTP client doesn't come with cookie support by default, if that's half the point of using one. But now I'm not, and the cookie's right there and it's being read. If I take the session ID and CSRF token and dump them into my clipboard, and then paste them into the cookie box in the browser, it's not authenticated. And it's definitely not a cookie issue this time, because I've got a session ID cookie in the first place.

Does mistakenly inputting
what.thedailywtf.com//api/config
work? Yes!
Does mistakenly inputtingwhat.thedailywtf.com//login
work? No! But it does attempt to log in, and then it fails but returns 200.

Status: Setting up a VM for Java development for a new client, I have learned a few things:
- Some JRE companies have heard of bugmenot and disable those accounts, but also don't keep up with all the 10minutemail domains
- Some IDE installers take forever to start after launching the executable, during which time the process just kind of sits there in the task manager long enough to start typing a post, but not so long that I can finish before it wakes up and does the needful

@error No U.
Also, your github seems to have vanished, but I suddenly need error-bot's message structures for JSON deserialization. Could you send the file that had those?

Yeah. I deleted my account.
Could you send the file that had those?
I could. I can't access it from work. It's nothing you can't get by watching the network traffic. Quit kneeling.

@error said in The Official Status Thread:

I did that originally, but now I'm using in a language with explicit nullability, and that one you can't get so easily. I have no idea which fields end up null.
-
@pie_flavor said in The Official Status Thread:

Probably all of them. It's a document database shoved into a relational database. I expect all fields may be omitted under certain undefined circumstances.

The TypeScript types are more like guidelines: it won't let you write code that violates the types, but there are no runtime guarantees. Basically you tell the transpiler what you expect the object to be.

Which is to be expected as it's still Javascript under the hood.
