Yeah, that would be worth the price of admission.

In Kirchner's district, 166 fewer students bought lunch every day last year — 30,000 fewer a year.
So if 166 people do something for a whole year, then 30,000 people did it.
What
-
30,000 lunches. this is why you label your units, people.
-
While walking through a forest, a tree almost fell on my dog.
It's not just numbers that have that problem.
-
That is something like 6% of the total students in the district. Though I can't find the change in total enrollment so not sure how that may factor in. But still if more than 1/20 kids (total, not just used to eat school lunches) stop then there are probably issues (like the fact that KY kids are stupid shits that don't know what food is supposed to be).

Those are just the sensible parents who can afford to send food their kids will eat. Our local elementary school has a composting project, but they still throw out a lot of food that kids dump because they won't eat it and the compost pile can't handle that much.

I don't know WTF you meant by this, but it sounds dumb enough to have been said by the sorts of idiots ruining school lunch menus.

Mostly just frustration with the fact that many of the people where I live in KY don't seem to understand that if it wasn't delivered or gotten from a drive through that it can still be food. Feel free to ignore, just poorly directed anger.

I'm not sure half the shit that's billed as "healthy" counts as food either these days. Meat, potatoes, and a vegetable, sure. Konnyaku in a fat-free low-sodium marinade with a kombucha shake and a gluten-free butter-free sugar-free "cookie"? FTS.

And yet I remain unsatisfied :(

I think that's just Styrofoam.

It's a cookie-free cookie.

The raw ingredients are simply buzzwords.

Bread-Free Toast!

And that's why you're the (second) fattest country in the world.

I prescribe 1 @DoctorJones to be taken 2-3 times daily ;-)

Only because we export high fructose corn syrup south.

Is it missing a
s/country/developed nation/
, or are you disagreeing with something else?
-
I would have taken issue with the "you're". As far as I know, @boomzilla isn't a country, or fat.

I'm happy to accept the premise of fatness rankings (lies, damn lies, etc) for the sake of whatever. There are definitely a lot of overweight people in the US, including myself.
But let's start with the fact that it's not exactly clear what @anonymous234 thinks was the reason. But whatever he thinks the reason is, it's not that kids are picky eaters or that they aren't eating enough lunch.
I don't know where @anonymous234 is from, and he hasn't joined a group, but his response implies it's not the US. I think most people don't realize how heterogeneous the demographics of the US are. Given this, there's no way there's a single reason to explain whatever metric of fatness he had in mind.
I think the top candidates have to be prosperity and agricultural efficiency and misguided dietary guidelines.

Also, a lot of people with essentially-sedentary lifestyles.

That's surely a contributor, but I'd definitely put it behind the other two.

I wouldn't rate the dietary guidelines so highly (unless you're also including the private sector “advice” such as advertising for fast food chains), but the calorie availability/affordability is definitely important.

What kind of job is toilet attendant and why should I tip them anyway?

This is one of those, "If you gotta ask, you can't afford it," situations.

Or, you're a female, because I don't see depth-based prices there.

Touché. I mean...if you aren't familiar with a men's room attendant.

The food pyramid is public sector. I'm not sure what you're pointing out here.

Alternate theory on Jeff & Disco-staff bugging out of TDWTF:
Post is about the Jezebel / Gawker comments problem. Not that we were posting rape porn.
"Or maybe you think that trolls constantly posting rape porn isn't severe or pervasive enough to create a hostile working environment. No, thanks, I don't think I'll borrow your laptop. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but everyone isn't entitled to the law being what they think it is. Minimal exposure to pornography isn't severe or pervasive. If someone puts up a centerfold and you complain and it's gone the next day, courts wont' find that to be sufficient to create liability. But being constantly exposed to pornography calculated to upset you — meant to troll you? That's probably over the line."

My apartment complex is booting out the local ISPs and installing their own fiber.
Going from 6Mbps for $30/month to 20Mbps for $40/month. Winning!
-
...My husband says that the technician corrected the front desk lady when she said 20mbps and said it was 20 "gig". Considering there's a tier above that at "50 gig" I'm now unsure WTF is going on.

data cap!

Same deal for cats too.

Exactly my fear. :(
The company name is apparently "DSI Technologies".... all I can find is a broken website, someplace in India, and a listing for a local company with "Filing status: Dead".
I'm beginning to think I posted in the wrong ideas thread...

Ah crap, I hope it works out OK
