🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD

Looking at the stack of lower-level items it's based on, I assume they've intentionally added more tiers than are currently economically feasible to craft for future-proofing reasons?
-
Well, you can currently get +70 agony resistance without those, and that lets you survive in scale 50 fractals, but they're adding another 50 scales two days from now, and there are only 3 slots that can hold the +## agony infusions, so they probably made up to at least +24. Not that anyone will be able to make it.
-
Actually, those slots can be added to most or all Ascended gear, as well.
-
How do you infuse:
- Ascended armor
- Ascended weapons
- Ascended trinkets
- Ascended amulets
Because you can't (yet).
-
Huh. I could've sworn I saw a recipe to infuse an amulet somewhere. Guess not. I should probably stop planning out my gear crafting goals at 3 AM.
-
There are infusions that can only be put in certain amulets, like the ones that give you free stuff.

Bad idea: "International Tax Reform" on a bill about highway maintenance.
-
Whether or not tax reform is a good idea, putting it into a highway maintenance bill is a bad idea.
-
And considering the guy is basically saying "lower my taxes or my SuperPAC will eat you", I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea, period.
-
what's left of the legs enter through the windscreen.
That's why my car has a steel grid on the windshield like you see in apocalypse movies. It's multipurpose!
-
You can make human hashbrowns!

Takes a lot of effort to clean up afterwards, though.

He sure saved that fish from drowning.

That pretty much perfectly demonstrates peta, too. They have zero regard for the actual animals, just as long as they're not in the hands of some evil farmer or pet owner.
-
Damn, now I'm hungry.

Srsly.
To put it simple: "bullshit".

It's a synonym of itself, twice?

I had to debate with myself for a while, but I finally decided this falls under bad ideas: The I Dream of Jeannie Race. It takes place in Cocoa Beach, Florida, because that's where the TV show (I Dream of Jeannie) was supposedly set here (at the Space Center, though it was shot elsewhere).
The race in question, a half marathon, requires the participant to be arrayed in Jeannie costume. (Which by the way, "in Jeannie costume" apparently offers significant latitude--especially for the guys.)
Maybe not a terribly bad idea, but...hmmm...
-
That sounds like the best of all possible ideas.
-
I'm surprised you think so...

Bad Idea: Not realising your advert contains a slang term you really don't want to use with it
Not sure I want peanut butter now

Not sure I want peanut butter now
Peanut butter is revolting, whether it's from Ocado with a funny name or not.
-
Ocado
Good eyes, I've never done online food shopping before so I thought I'd start.
Peanut butter is revolting
I respectfully disagree, the crunchy stuff is great. Especially if you pop a bit of nutella in it
I did have some revolting stuff once, it was organic fair-trade and cost a fortune. It looked and tasted like sawdust clumps mixed with water. How the hell do you screw up peanut butter?
-
Good eyes
T'was the colour that did it.
I've never done online food shopping before so I thought I'd start.
I've done it a few times. Should go back to it really, saves time and means I don't come home with a pile of stuff I didn't set out to buy.
-
Sounds like they poured all the oil off. Peanut butter minus butter. What else did you expect from organic fair trade?
-
Sounds like they poured all the oil off. Peanut butter minus butter
I think that's exactly what was wrong with it.
What else did you expect from organic fair trade?
Naively I thought it might be tastier. Now I just buy Sun-pat, I don't care if it's full of palm oil if it tastes good.
-
means I don't come home with a pile of stuff I didn't set out to buy.
and what's the fun in that?
-
Bad idea: taking a perfectly good Talking Heads song filled with subtle innuendo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LTCdt4tk8k
and turning it into something... far less subtle:
-
Sounds like they poured all the oil off.
Sounds to me like they screwed it up worse than that. I normally buy natural (not organic) peanut butter; ingredients peanuts and salt, period. The solids settle during storage, so there's a layer of oil floating on top; I make my own reduced-fat version by pouring off the excess oil when I first open it. There's still plenty of oil left for good flavor and texture if — and it's a significant "if" — I do a good enough job of stirring it, but I think that would be true even if I didn't pour off the oil.
-
Now I just buy Sun-pat, I don't care if it's full of palm oil if it tastes good
But sun pat doesn't taste good. It's too dry, Tesco own brand is the best peanut butter
-
Wrong! Everyone knows that waitrose has the best of everything...
There's a Irish chain store called Dunnes that does really good peanut butter. It's a pity its Irish.

Well lah di dah. Lidl not good enough for you?
-
Wrong! Everyone knows that waitrose has the best of everything...
I think you mean M&S. Although every time I come out of there I find I've bought a handful of items that collectively cost the same as a full weekly shop. Now I'm hungry for dressed lobster.
-
I think you're mixing up quality peanut butter with your lack of willpower.
two for one on Scottish Scampi! How have they not gone extinct yet?

two for one on Scottish Scampi! How have they not gone extinct yet?
Everyone in Scotland is too busy eating deep-fried Mars bars, so there are plenty of scampi going spare.

Which only proves that we didn't establish it?

Oracle + JavaScript = http://www.oraclejet.org
It's a collection of open source JavaScript libraries along with a set of Oracle contributed JavaScript libraries that make it as simple and efficient as possible to build applications that consume and interact with Oracle products and services, especially Oracle Cloud services.
Actually, it's quite nice, at least something different. Seems the big Oracle powers at be haven't had the time to put their pawns on this. Makes me wonder why they (Oracle) didn't made their own language-to-javascript thing.

I'm still hoping to hear who English Tara diddled.

BAD IDEA: (but I'm not sure who specifically is at fault) my (no longer quite new) desktop came with a built-in speaker, which I haven't seen on a desktop in ages. One drawback, though is how it interacts with external speakers: it doesn't get disabled. That means both it and the external speakers play audio, and now if I want to quickly turn the volume down I have to turn both the knob on the external speakers and the Windows volume control. (I could probably skip the first thing, but muscle memory.)
