I would rather see "PHP is a crap language because it is loosely type and you can create variables on the fly without declaring them". Than just "PHP is crap and all those using it should be castrated". Because it is a reasoned argument, that is valid from the perspective of somebody that uses, say, C.
Writing a detailed report of why PHP suck sounds like work, one has to research why some people hate some language. but it's all opinion. The safe path is to use popular tools. Sometimes there is a good reason people aren't using some language, and there is no safe way to anticipate that. All of them will have plenty of defenders and haters with good arguments.
I personally see flaws and annoying stuff in all programming languages, they are all crap. And if I try to design one I'm pretty sure I'll think its crap one week after the fact.
PHP has pretty low hardware requirements, and the cheapest hosting costs of all. It's a strong argument for commodity web software like a forum to be written in PHP.

This is supposed to be a community of individuals that have the IT Industry as a common background. By definition, individuals (despite the Articles) with a relatively high intelligence.
