After that I thought I'll give the grey one a chance to sit in the box too but he started scratching from the second I even hoovered him above the box.
It doesn't work if you want them to do it.

Status: Been writing exam questions for our Software Engineering course. It's quite fun thinking up scenarios for the students to look at and panic over. Even better, they're all multi-choice questions, so they can be robomarked.

I had a PC once where the combination of that effect, a shitty PSU and a bad ground to the outlet was very profound.

Yes, I'm the one who took down the forum. I'm not going to apologize because I had to send a PM. Blame Alex for subjecting us to this shitheap of ass forum.

ERR_NOT_LORNE_KATES <body is silly, please unsilly it.

What are you talking about.

Yes, I'm the one who took down the forum.
No need to apologise. If the code wasn't shit, it wouldn't happen.

I'm not going to apologize

I replied to a different post than your twitter post SEE HOW USEFUL DISCOURSE IS AT TELLING YOU THAT!

Oh gee, I'd like to see the post that was jeffed, let's just go to the notific-
NOPE FUCK YOU YOU GET WHERE THE POST USED TO BE BECAUSE THAT'S USEFUL
-
Oh.
Sorry I'm just sick and tired of dealing with a particular numbnut on this forum who apparently does absolutely nothing but follow me around, even into threads he has absolutely no interest in, so he can hurl insults at me. That's what the PM was about.
Yeah, ok, we get it. You don't like me. I got it after the first 3462 times. Move on with your life.

Status: Windows 10 is using nearly all of its pagefile but it hasn't gotten anywhere near running out of physical RAM as far as I know. ?

Why don't you look? What do you mean "as far as you know". It's not some big mystery.

Status: Writing product instruction manuals. Writing copy is quite fun when you get to put "cut a hole in the ceiling" in it

Restarting Firefox usually helps.

Unfortunately, I can't see into the past to know whether it had a large amount of RAM usage, but all I've run on there that could've used a lot of RAM is SQL Server and a few video games.
Here's my current RAM users from New Relic:

What kind of broken shit is that?
1.43 k MB?

And Chrome.

I'm not sure why they went for 5-byte 4-digit numbers with 3 significant digits.

Didn't think I'd ever run into that one.

You don't like me.
I'm sorry, but ever since that "ask-me-anything" thread I find it harder to go on not liking you. So basically you blew it.
Also: why do you care what some random dude on the internet thinks of you?

you know..... could stand to learn that the wrong index is worse than no index..... multiply by hundreds...... and yeah.

You can feel down to a few uA as a 'fuzzy' feeling, it's quite amazing.
Do you make power supplies that can attach to chairs?
Um, no reason, a friend wants to know...this was a really bad naming decision in the scientiffic community.
Reply as linked topic: I don't get it? iterations, or snowball? Or FaBSiI?NOPE FUCK YOU YOU GET WHERE THE POST kinda maybe jellypotato USED TO BE BECAUSE THAT'S USEFUL
FTFY. 18/21 attempts fail to even get me to the "X posts were moved into a {status at time of creation} topic" post.multiply by hundreds
So that's why doing anything that writes to tables takes forever!

snowball
"Snowball sampling" is ok, I guess. But it is tempting to write "snowballing" instead, and if you google for "snowballing wikipedia" the first hit (on wikipedia) is decidedly NSFW. So don't.
Any supervisor whose head is not stuck in an anatomically awkward place should strongly advice his students to be very careful to not mix the two terms up.
-
if you google for "snowballing wikipedia" the first hit
Ah. So in the spirit of the forum, I shouldn't actually--
So don't.
Ah. Got it.Anyways, not following sound advice, it might entirely be cromulent to the situation to use snowballing in its' slang interpretation. After all, each round just adds more stuff to the pile, right?

It looks like spdy/3.1, according to Chrome. So basically HTTP/2 minus one. Which this forum is also running.
Then the fucked up something. This is what I get when I visit in Firefox 22:

And the response from their Twitter is basically "we spent time fixing our servers it works for us CLOSED_WONTFIX".

[1] especially if it reads "I answer the door naked."
i'm not sure i want to meet someone who would knock on the door despite that warning.....

It's kinda like a jack in the box, you don't know when or how they'll pop up, but when they do, it's always a surprise!

Status dealing with a "content manager" of one of our customers, trying to figure out the website.
How do I setup website permissions I've spent hours and can't see it here is where I'm looking
That's system permissions. (Our product is basically a plugin for Navision-- he's looking at Navision settings, not plugin settings). See page X in the user manual
the usermanual is for version 7 but we're running versions 5.5.
Version 5.5 was discontinued 8 years ago. Also, you aren't running 5.5. You are running 7.
ru sure here is screenshot! He then sends a screenshot of the Navision client setup screen-- this would be the equivalent of sending a screenshot of the MSQL Server Management tool, when you're asking about the version of a plugin for the management-- and you think you're asking about what version of SQL server you're running.
Also, the screenshot is 4000px wide. And sideways. And taken with a camera.

Why not set the ISP's DNS servers as primary and Google's public DNS server as secondary?
I would do that, but the ISP's server sends back a response saying it can't resolve the domain name, for every single domain. My laptop won't switch to the secondary server in that situation. It might be a point now. My issues with the other network I mentioned might have gotten fixed.

Dear @accalia,
I finally managed to get away from work and get a ticket to the states. After many long adventures, and nearly ending up at the roadkill cafe, I finally found your house. You had put up a verrry promising sign, so I went ahead and gladly knocked on the door. Alas, you did not answer the door. I can only assume you were out for some quick errand ( I hope you remebered to put on some clothes before leaving the house). Maybe you were out of milk?
Anyway, I waited for a while but then I had to hurry back to the airport to catch my fligh home again. Sorry we could not meet. I hope to get another few days off work in a couple of years, so we should definitely arrange for something.
Yours sincerely, XXX, etc. etc., @RaceProUK.

Is anybody else having issues where new posts, including your own, fail to stream in? The post right before mine is the first one that I have seen stream in properly for days.

Status: I just used a cutting torch to install a new Dell server in our nonstandard rack.

I'll get right on it as soon as they tell me that I'm welcome again.

Also: why do you care what some random dude on the internet thinks of you?
I don't. I care that he gives a notification in a thread I like and pay attention to, so I foolishly think maybe he's commenting on the subject of the thread instead of just randomly insulting me for no reason.
And yet I am always disappointed.

It's not a supported release. It might have been on the ESR schedule at one time, but the current ESR release is 38. So... that's why.

And yet I am always disappointed.
This has nothing to do with the contents of the post, since it is true for nearly all posts you read here.
I guess we should be flattered?

Why are you using that?
I'm on 44.0.2, so 22 is only, what, 3 months old?

Do you make power supplies that can attach to chairs?
I have a 6kW 16kV supply? It's possible someone would feel that if they sat on it.

At this point, I realize that this could potentially indicate I wanted to build an electric chair, indicating possible thoughts of suicide.
Internal analysis indicates I am indeed a bit depressed from conversing with @Blakeyrat.
I wonder how many would see my demise as a good thing?I'll have to be extra careful today, apparently the Censor module has been disabled or is otherwise non-functional....
Well, off to lunch, that should brighten up the mood, right?

So what? I froze FF at 22, because it was my line-in-the-bullshit-filled sand.
- All my plugins work
- It supports whatever HTML5 bullshit I need
- FF23 is when they decided to go full Bikeshed Retard by changing the icon. I don't like the new flat fuck icon.
- Ever subsequent release past 22 gets more bullshitty-- loss of features, useless UI changes, forced ads. Fuck fuck fuck that fucking shit.
So since even Discourse works with FF22, why shouldn't I be running it?

umm..... based on your arguments shouldn't you be looking for a new browser?
