It's OK @blakeyrat, I know that under that veneer of complete and total cockholery there is a good person.
Liar.
Somewhere, deep down inside, beneath onion like layers of complete shithead...somewhere...you are probably tolerable.
Yeah well I get worse every time I have to interact with broken shit like Git.

What's a human civilization that has Abe, is a problematic nation, and contains a group of Bushes in the site government?
Did Dwarf Fortress generate America?
Edit: apparently they also worship this person:
/cc @accalia @RaceProUKEdit 2: it also has @RichardNixonBot in its government
Edit 3: HOLY SHIT
IT IS AMERICA

Oh, man, I'm probably going to get in trouble for that later.
Fuck it, that's @futureboomzilla's problem.

Status: Ordered a Raspberry Pi 2 to get on the waiting list since they're on backorder until September.
Look what I found in my mailbox today:
I think someone accidentally most of the year.

Hmm.. I think I'm going to existinate The Binding of Isaac and give it another try.

Press TAB to input a seed?
I tried holding it with one hand, and now my keyboard is all sticky. Need further instruction.

What's next? @Groaner complaining that I stole his shtick?
Imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Status: The cake my son and I made did not come out of the pan properly. It basically split in two. Oh well, Ganache covers all (baking) sins.

And it requires a 5V power supply. I definitely have some 9V ones lying around, but not 5V
-
Actually, I take that back...it has a second power supply port that's a standard Micro-USB connection, like any cell phone charger.

Like all the other SOC machines? :-P

I've never used anything like this before.
I was on the waiting list for the first model, but I never got it because after sitting on the list for a year and a half my credit card I signed up with had expired. They tried to charge, failed, and kicked me off the list

They are pretty cool. I have bought several of the original Raspberry Pi machines. Now I am deciding what to upgrade to, and who to give the old ones to. Some kids who might make good programmers I imagine.
-
It has a bunch of general-purpose IO pins, so I might try the robotics thing again. I had something hacked together in college with a Motor Bee USB board and a stripped-down HP netbook duct-taped on the back of a remote-control car but it didn't work very well, mostly because the Atom processor spend too much time encoding the webcam signal to have enough cycles remaining to smoothly control the car.
-
Well it doesn't work without a MicroSD card. Guess I'm done playing with it for today.

You didn't do much research, eh? ;-)
They are immensely fun. Just making an LED flash makes you feel like a kid again.

I didn't do any research. I saw a quad-core machine for $35 and the promise of Windows 10 support and immediately threw cash at my monitor.

I bought the original pi, and then realized I have zero interest in electronics and already have a home server... so I sort of never figured out what to do with it. So now it's sitting there in its pretty little case and collecting dust. I'm pretty sure most pi-s suffered similar fate eventually.

I might be considering buying it off you. At least it will only travel for a few
daysmonths given thedistancepostal service.

Now, to try and recreate that damned bug...

I considered buying one to control the lights in my kid's dollhouse via an android app. Then I realised that this would be more fun for me than for them, since they rarely play with the dollhouse anyway. So I hooked it up to a couple of Nexa swithes instead.
Now, whenever our cats triggers the motion sensor on our driveway the kitchen in the dollhouse lights up.

(And just now I learned Alt-codes don't work on Linux. My browser freaked out when I tried Alt-0176 to put in the degrees symbol.)
Compose-o-o.
You can choose which key acts as a compose key from the keyboard settings wizard manager conflaguration thingamajig provided by your desktop environment.

Does this produce a ° or a º?
Since @mott555 wanted to get a °, I gave him a way to get a °
To get a º, the magical key sequence is Compose-o-_. That sequence is order sensitive: Compose-_-o yields ō.
-
Now, this is the sort of thing that might appeal to me if I wasn't ignorant about all things electrical and too lazy/disinterested to learn.
I thought about hooking it up to a doorbell (get email/IM when someone is ringing), but I'll probably just end up electrocuting any combination of Raspberry Pi, fuse box and/or myself.
-

Nah, this is now like the equivalent of the quickly growing pile of games on my Steam account. I'll get down to playing with it... one of these days... eventually....

Sure, if you're using one of those keyboard layouts...
My solution is keyboard layout independent (as long as there is a Compose key mapped somewhere).
On the Belgian keyboard layout, you get a ° by pressing Shift+) btw.

I wanted to play around with something ARM. It was fun while it lasted, but seems to be busted now.

I was laying in bed awake most of the night angry. I dozed and got maybe 2 hours of actual sleep. My plan now is to stoke the anger to keep me going through the day.

Interestingly, my experience with Oracle has been that the two go together, especially as my fetish for subquery factoring has grown.

Things that happen in the afternoon on the 31st of December of 2015 don't exist in the program I work with.
Because start of year and end of year are both passed with 00:00:00 and not 00:00:00 for start and 23:59:59 for end (Although, saying
New DateTime(nextyear, 1,1).AddSeconds(-1)
is probably more correct.) (nor are the comparisons done with events having their time of day set to 00:00:00, which would also work).

Wrong emotion. I'm going to have to take your guns away to prevent climate change while vaccinating Jesus so he gets autism and people stop believing in him

vaccinating Jesus so he gets autism
I resent your assumption that Jesus didn't have autism.

I resent your assumption that Jesus didn't have autism.
Well, I saw Rain Man, and Jesus apparently had trouble counting things like fishes. Rain Man never would have had that problem, so I think your assumption must be wrong. Also, there were no K-Marts back then, so where would he have gotten his underwear?
-
where would he have gotten his underwear?
I resent your assumption that Jesus wears underwear!

Also, there's no evidence that Jesus was an excellent driver*. He was more into shepherding.
* Moses, of course, was a biker. As he brought the 10 commandments to his people "the roar of his Triumph was heard throughout the land"

Ah, he was a fan of British bikes
