@flabdablet parking fees? Wouldn't you just dig up your own new parking lot?
There's also something to be said for these:
Pretty much automatic right of way.
Too bad the GPS only plots trips to Warsaw.

@blakeyrat said in Cars Thread.:
@dkf You can tell it's an old car because it wears its belt so high.
... also why does it have a belt?
It keeps the hood shut. Keep in mind that this is a car from a company that produces cars that have motorcycle engines behind the front bumper and wooden frames.
Not that they are not really cool cars, but they are not what one would call "modern".
-
Who wouldn't love that car ?
-
My dream car:
McLaren F1. The car that really changed things for hypercars. An all around great package, and still relevant 24 years after introduction. A truly amazing piece of engineering, and super sexy to boot. It would be years before another car bested any of its performance numbers, and IIRC it was the first production car to have a sub 4-second 0-60 time.
If we expand it out to cars, I will just take Jay Leno's garage, including all the tooling and personnel and attach a 2500 sqft woodshop, because goddamn it this is my dream.
-
@dkf said in Cars Thread.:
Not sure if the one in the garage here does.
It doesn't. I grabbed a picture:
Not the best picture ever, and the lighting was very poor, but I was in a hurry to get to the beach.
-
I could also go for something like the Maserati Quattroporte, because who wouldn't want a 4-door sedan with 400 - 500 horsepower?

Why settle for that when you can get a sedan with 640?
Or 707?

It doesn't

@Jarry Huh. Hadn't noticed that, but then I really don't get around to driving it very often. (We've not been driving it this trip at all because we've been hauling around several young girls to various beaches, cafés and ice cream parlours. Sometimes practicality has to win.)

Your kids? Or are you bragging?

@dkf Nice. Really nice.
I am of the understanding that it takes 4 years to build one.
Wikipedia says 6 months, but in the past it has taken over two years to fill an order.
They are very obviously doing something right.

downhill and wind not needed.
As long as you like it, that is all that matters. Hell, I have delusions of grandeur about taking a Fiero and putting a Northstar V8 in one. I would like it and that is all that would matter.
Who gives a shit what anyone else thinks? I even wish @another_sam would put a whopping V6 in a powder blue Corolla. I would have him pop the hood and then proceed to drink to excess while we talked about the upgrade.

What he said. The motorbike I owned for 15 years, sold it as part of the agreement with the wife to buy my ute:
Ugly (to sane people). Heavy. Only 90HP from 1100cc. BMW so parts and maintenance were expensive. Why the hell would I buy one of those?
Because when I found gravel roads I didn't even slow down. It's an awesome off-road touring bike. I could ride it all day on any road, bendy, straight, slow, fast, gravel, paved, city, country. In the twisties it was just quick enough despite its weight and relatively low power to scare the sports bike riders who suddenly realised they might get beaten by a fucking dirt bike if they weren't careful.
Also, ugly to some just means it has character. Every Japanese bike looks the same to me.

I so wish I could justify such a project, but I'd have to give up every other hobby I have. It'd be a fun project, I'd learn a lot and in the end I'd have a completely unique vehicle. But my wife wouldn't be happy and I'd have invested a lot in an asset that's never going to be worth the money, so unless I strike it rediculously rich somehow it's never going to happen.

I would be glad to drink to excess while telling you all about it.

That's probably the only thing holding the engine cover on, assuming that car's English.

Wouldn't you also need a frame extender, or a dormer, or something?

My dream car is a flying time-travelling delorean

A man needs dreams.
Women also do. I want to be inclusive. I don't want to gaslight anyone.

Nope. People put all kinda of crazy engines in them. Supercharged 3800 V6s, Northstar V8s, Aurora V8s, small block Chevys, and even the LS engines.
Surprisingly, they all fit pretty well.
-
@mott555
I'm still trying to think of a reason to ask our CEO a lift ...

That's actually kind of disappointing. I'd hoped someone was putting dormers on.

There's a low(ish)-mileage Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon with the 200hp 1.75l turbo engine currently for sale in my city and I'm seriously getting twitchy about it. I don't really need a new car, I'm just kinda looking around because I'll be moving next year and something bigger than my current subcompact would be nice for that, and the 7k EUR they're asking for it is more than I want to spend, and the engine has pretty bad fuel economy for city driving and overall these cars are a bad idea money-wise, but I just can't get over the way that thing looks. It's the angriest looking car I've ever seen and I love it.
