"infused with alcohol"? That's cheating.
Vishnik. Sour cherries (Morello if you can get them).
Plus the juice of one lemon (for a large batch like this)
Plus cover it with sugar.
Shake. Put on shelf (room temp, pref near a window) for 6-12 months. Test a few times right away and about once each month for the right ph level. As long as it's under 4.6, it's acidic enough to kill any baddies. Adjust sugar to taste as you go.
My father has the last of my great-grandmother's jar, and it's reserved for very special occasions.
For my wedding (in 2010), I made a huge batch from fresh-picked cherries. 4 of those giant jars. I've bottled most of it, and have made extra batches from the leftover cherries. At least whichever cherries I don't snack on. =)
Depending on how this batch turns out, I'll try to squeeze one more out of these cherries. Otherwise I'll make the most awesomest jam ever.

Over here it's done in 45 gallon drums, fermented for 6 months, and run through the still...
Which reminds me, I still have 20 gallons of fermented figs to distill.

@Lorne-Kates Sadly, Jean is dead now, but this still happens. Mobile still, moving from village to village, distilling what the villagers have fermented into «gnôle».
It's in french, obviously, but Jean is mythic. "It's my medicine. It dissolves cholesterol"

No it's not, because they used the word "infused."
If they had "mixed in alcohol" or "poured in" or "dumped in" or "tossed in" or any of that low-brow stuff, then it would be cheating. But "infused" is one of those high-falutin' words that raises the action above mundane things like cheating.
Just ask any of those people making homeopathic remedies.
-
@CoyneTheDup Funny you should mention that. I've taken some Ruddles and, using the finest homeopathic techniques, turned it into the strongest beer you can possibly imagine.
I'll be selling it at 20€ per 10mL "flask" - honestly, you won't need more, at this potency it's dangerous to consume more than 5mL a week.

Surely you mean "less than 5mL a week"?
-
@tufty homoeopathy doesn't make things stronger, it makes them cure what they cause in higher concentrations. If you drink this homoeopathic beer you definitely won't get a hangover

So to get drunk, we need homeopathic water?

Does homeopathic water cure drowning?
-
@HardwareGeek does water have a memory of everybody who's ever drowned in it?
-
@Jaloopa No, but it has a memory of everybody who's pissed in it.

Hey! Onebox is working with timestamps now! Good on you, mate. Pity about the video quality, but it looks deliberate - the poster did the center bloom thing some people use to try to evade Content ID, so they probably down-stepped the bitrate for the same reason..
