I have been trying to maximize the ratio of pokestops to walking to stock up on balls and berries.
And sometimes I skip the more common pokemon unless I think I can catch them with one ball.

No kidding! I read that as:
I have been trying to maximize the the ratio of pokestops to total walking distance in order to best stock up on pokeballs and Razz berries.
Filed under: Wait, that was the intended meaning?

Don't do that! Save them so you can grind 'em into candy! ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE!

Edit because derp:
I do that when I am low on balls. I hatched a pretty high level Snorlax and have powered him up to be over 1600.I am doing OK.
Husband just called the sons (who are at their mother's house this week
end) to take a walk down by the river to catch Magickarp. I've been a couple levels ahead of him this last week so I am ok with that.I also spent too much time after leaving work to walk around and hatch eggs (I splurged for some extra incubators) while I had a lucky egg.
I caught a Growleth that was over 700.
I have a blister on my toe and I've hit over 15k steps the last 2 days.

I don't play this dumb game, but it looks like Niantic is trying its damndest to ruin it for everybody:
That's after they canned a feature they had not only promised, but actually implemented, and even worse, they prevented 3rd parties from implementing the same feature.
-
-
My husband sent me this:
I've printed out the image and keep updated on what is high enough to evolve.
Some are high enough to evolve but I need candy so I've marked that too.

That's because according to Niantic, the legendaries shouldn't be catchable right now, so the only way you could get one is by some kind of glitch or something. It's a bit of a drastic step, but not totally outrageous.
-
@sloosecannon But they are still stripping out features and going after people who provide alternatives.

Many of the new "features" that were blatantly put in to compel users to buy from the real money shop have now driven many players to using GPS spoofing tools. Great job Niantic. The namesake fits too, because so far, this maiden voyage is sinking hard and fast.
-
@sloosecannon It's THEIR fuck up, they need to grin and bear it.
-
@Tsaukpaetra Fixed
-
@blakeyrat Unless it was someone faking the calls and "hacking" it into their account. Which it very likely was...
-
@sloosecannon Yeah, I hear articuno guy was trying to pass it off as "Someone from customer service gifted it into my account" which they certainly did not.
Then there was the email Covey supposedly received from Niantic, which spelled Articuno as "Articundo."
All the "Seems legit" evidence just rules out photoshop, not hacking.

Think I caught a rare form of `Arbok` in my local supermarket...
-
I'm having a hell of a time catching Bulbasaur. I feed him berries, he keeps escaping, I use the stronger balls, he keeps escaping, then he runs away. The little fucker.
-
I managed to catch Bulbasaur today. Yay!
Saturday a Dragonite appeared. I could not catch him for the life of me. He was higher on the screen and I just couldn't throw balls far enough to get him. He was over 1300 cp. I finally cut my losses and gave up.
Today my husband catches one (lower than 1300). Once comes up for me, with ??? for cp. I try, and try. My husband offers to help...I let him because I really, really, really wanted it and I was sad about giving up the other day.
He caught it for me...cp 1887. I felt like I was cheating but he said it is like a guy winning a prize from a carnival for his girl.
Since, I am a level ahead of him...that's love.

Status: I accidentally made Pokémon go launch in landscape mode.
The UI certainly didn't expect that...

I just ran downstairs to get a Charmander.

Frickin' game's not recording (most of) my steps, which is really cramping my egg's style.

How does your altitude affect your position on the map?

The update a couple days ago was supposed to help that.
I've been an egg hatching machine. I've even made significant progress with GPS just messing up while I sit at my desk.

Building just seem to mess with the GPS it has me jump all over the place and I constantly have to tell it I'm not driving as it has me running diagonally through city blocks.
I've often have no idea where it has put me because it is so far from my location.
Even scaffolding can cause it to think I am a block over.
I can often catch Pokemon from my desk.

At home, we are second floor above a gym. Even then GPS often tells me I am too far away. Which is frustrating when I want to battle.
-
@Karla I just took a 2.4 mile walk around a local park--there's 4 pokestops right on top of each other, and 7-8 more in a half-mile or less radius. The clustered ones have lure modules on them most of the time. 7PM on a Wednesday, and there's 30-40 people just sitting, talking, and catching a couple of pokemon a minute. Great way to pump the hell out of a weedle or caterpie by collecting a dozen and grinding 'em into candy. :)
I caught a CP 403 Tauros and like 4 Bulbasaurs. Plus 40-50 more, heh. Finally hatched the first 5km egg--a doduo. I have 1.6km on two more, a 2 and 5km--I picked up a 3-use incubator somewhere. 1.5km on ~1.5mi walking isn't a very good rate, though.

Somebody beat one of the gyms near us, and put a CP 10 Krabby or something on it. Behind it were a couple of CP 1400 others, though.

This morning I got off the subway one stop too far. Walking mostly a direct route to work managed to hatch about 4 eggs hitting a decent number of pokestops and catching decent pokemon.
At lunchtime, I wanted to minimize my time in the sun...walked mostly east and west and hatched four more.
When I got off work...I decided to work the park...some lures there, I I dropped others, walked a rectangle picking up a bunch of pokemon and hatching at least 3 eggs.
I picked up a Tauros as I was entering our building. I think the gym there means we get decent pokemon around it. That's where my husband caught the dragonite for me.

We get into regularly, it just changes hands frequently.
My kids' friends are impressed that my husband and I are higher levels than they are.
My husband thinks I am obsessed...last night a less common pokemon appeared on the map...I had just showered, wasn't dressed...and was asking...can I go get it. He managed to talk me down.

Those stops must be pretty far apart :p
I have a park nearby with a couple gyms, and one more a little further away. I've started a routine with my sister to hit the gyms, and collect the reward. Making 20 to 30 coins per day with that :) Plus it helps hatch eggs. Unfortunately the speed limitation on hatching means that my daily commute by bike is wasted.

According to google about .5 miles directly. I did take a few detours as I was finishing the lucky egg and saw some rarer pokemon on the tracker....caught 2 Magmar, and decent Ponyta thanks to it.

My husband and I and the adult kids are all the same team. We plan to do some attacking of gyms together.

Actually managed to take over a gym in the town where my workplace is during lunch break and keep it until evening.
I never had that work out that well.

I bought several incubators so I could hatch them simultaneously and the 4 were already close. I wanted to time it so I had a lucky egg at the time.
I regularly have more 5 hatching at the same time.
I live in NYC which is incredibly walkable compared to practically everywhere. Most parks are littered with Pokestops many of which are perma-lured and overlap each other. NYC has a lot of little greenway parks all over the place.
The mecca is still the Southeast corner of Central Park.
Most days I go through a lucky egg or two at lunch and at least one on the way home. I have tan lines on my feet from my sandals.
My phone battery overheats, so I've bought extra batteries so I can swap them out (plus external charges).
Considering I am not a gamer I am way too serious about playing.

Is the tracker actually working (existent) again?

No. Inasmuch as it still only shows whether or not a pokemon is within 300 meters.

I use this:
It is mostly useless in my neighborhood but around work it is helpful.

I did that yesterday, brought two batteries with me. This was my 3-mile walk:
I marked the pokestops in blue. The four clustered together in the NE of the park are constantly lured. You'll see people sitting there for an hour or more at a time--if you're in the right spot you can hit all four stops without moving.

Anyone have the issue where the GPS jitters and causing it to trigger "You're moving too fast!" when sitting still?

She said: “Tree swings can be potentially dangerous to users and can damage trees. We are responsible for ensuring the safety of users of our facilities and such rope swings make it extremely difficult to do this with untested and unapproved equipment.”

All the time. Especially while I am in a building but even occasionally when I am walking outside.
