ITT: Armchair Legislators and the Attack of the Dunning-Kruger
The professionals I have for doing that aren't exactly competent.

The ever-changing cast of 594 includes suspects accused of murder and drug trafficking, aging former soccer players, a judo champion, a country music star and a collection of bearded men who have adopted roles as leaders of a women’s movement.
The cast even includes a clown who goes by the name Grumpy.

Not sure why this should be a problem.

The only way around it is by just not getting a state-recognized marriage, but that's oppressive and discriminatory.
Being held to one marriage is being held in subservience and hardship? Most people would feel the exact opposite.
No, I meant that telling someone they can't get a state-recognized marriage with someone else (because raisins) is oppressive and discriminatory.

@FrostCat that's a good point, but I wonder if we wouldn't be better of with state-sized countries
Alaska? Or Rhode Island?

The problem is what followed that a few paragraphs later:
She sighed, acknowledging that many of the men who join have little interest in promoting women’s rights.
One of those who joined the party, Senator Hélio José da Silva Lima, was accused of sexually abusing a young niece last year, though charges were later dropped. “What would become of us men if there were no women by our side, to bring us joy and pleasure?” he was quoted as saying in the Brazilian news media when asked about his decision to join the women’s party.

Alaska? Or Rhode Island?
Or Russia? Or Vatican City? Those are states, too!

So a law against whorehouses prevented sorority houses...that has to be a case of an arrow hitting its mark a century later.
Filed under: This thread is sexist.

Seems like a good idea, but then you end up with a critical mass at some point in the future where all the lawmakers time is spent just keeping existing laws up to date and no time to pass new ones.
Works for me!

@error I for one actually do hover over the "filed under" links to see if there's an actual link or even just a hover text.

It's probably battery, so yes. Unless we're talking about Clinton and his interns.

So it's legal for an intern to charge Clinton's batteries?

I'm no good at , but first reaction is "eh... maybe?"
I mean, if apparently any offensive physical contact is "battery", then I consider "shaking hands" battery...

No reasonable prosecutor would bring charges, I'm sure.

FTFY

They did, remember? There was no reasonable Congress willing to convict, because being a Democrat means standing up for other Democrats even if they're in jail.
