Delete Mafia

As a consequence of what happened in the mafia game, the delete button and the bookmark button have been moved behind the ellipsis to prevent accidental deletes. The ellipsis requires 2 items to be added to the so-called "hidden" menu or else nothing gets hidden.
If you'd rather have another item put there, convince me in this thread. Also, the first 18 posts were Jeff'd from Club Ded. And it's easier to Jeff them out here than to explain to you fuckers what's going on.

Well, I decided to put my where my is...
-
Do we have the post menu hidden items settings functional here? If so, can we mess around with it and see if adding delete to that menu is a viable solution?
INB4: but we turned it off because moved our UI cheese and we wanted everything all back on one line

You activated my trap card!!!
...oh, wait, never mind, carry on...
(And I guess I activated Jeff's trap card over on meta.d. le sigh)

I've added delete to the hidden items. Can someone refresh and confirm that it's gone? I still see it, but I suspect that may be a mod thing.
-
i still see it, even after full refresh.
-
Welp...
-
Yeah, it's still there on mobile for me too. Let me try DiscoDefault CSS...
Hrm, wait, where did that link go...
-
Clobbered by an update and we never figured out how to get it back. It's possible that adding the raw button killed the hidden stuff somehow? No idea. I guess someone should put a post in Bugs or something.

This post is deleted!
-
Ah, OK, I had to take it out of the post-menu order too. Hmm...but now it's gone altogether.
EDIT: Nope. It's either there or it's not. Nothing seems to want to just hide.
-
Gah...this is fucking retarded. You have to put at least two things in that list. I added the admin wrench. Hopefully that still works for everyone else who doesn't get that item.
-
survey says...... nope.
and yes that is after full refresh, just in case
-
OK, I've sacrificed bookmark to live behind the ellipsis. Did that work?
-
seems to have:

the delete button and the bookmark button have been moved behind the ellipsis to prevent accidental deletes.
Weren't we just here before?
Wouldn't it be better to have an anti-wikified post option.
All posts in this thread are undeletable and uneditable.
Don't get snarky..... NSA is watching.
-
it's your fault because you dared to use a provided customization hook and didn't do WAY more usability testing than we ever did in the first place to make sure your customizations aren't dangerous.
Anyway, it's easy to undelete because everybody always carefully examines everything they scroll past and nobody ever posts inebriated or distracted.
Note: @Weng is ALWAYS posting inebriated or distracted.
-
Lol, custom loaded CSS triggered by thread ID. Now who's ?
-
I can still see bookmark?
-
Oh, no... bookmarks disappears when delete is visible. Not when I post though, only after a refresh.
-
Yeah, bookmark only vanishes if you can delete the post. Guess we could move flag into the ellipsis to make it consistent?
-

And this. Immediately after posting the ellipsis doesn't show and you always get a bare delete button.
-
section[data-topic-id=<number>] .delete { display: none; }
-
Yeah, bookmark only vanishes if you can delete the post. Guess we could move flag into the ellipsis to make it consistent?
Eh, I think that's kinda OK. I'd guess bookmarking own posts is not that common of a feature.
Well, shouldn't be anyway, people might be doing it due to not being able to open their profiles...
-
As I understand it admins want to keep access to the button.
-
Yeah.
I think how it is now is a good Discompromise between "works perfectly" and "hasn't been done at all". It's only happened once, it's not like we're trying to avoid a regular disaster.
-
That CSS posted by @raceprouk would remove the delete button only for a specific thread, I don't see a problem with that.
Is it possible to do it in a category yet?
-
I don't see a problem with that.
The staff will if they need to delete anything in it.
I think we're making this into a bigger issue than it is, considering it's happened once in 3 games.
-
If you or I (especially me) were running a mafia game, we would potentially need to be able to rapidly remove any accidental info leaks we might cause. Needing to unhide the delete button from css would be a pain. Just having an extra click should be enough to stop @Wenging
-
The ellipsis requires 2 items to be added to the so-called "hidden" menu or else nothing gets hidden
Do the 2 things that have to be there, have to be things that exist (like
raw
doesn't - technically.)
-
I don't mind Boomz's solution, but should we hide more? Personally I would love to have fewer buttons visible, especially on mobile. I think Like, Raw, Ellipsis, and Reply would be perfect. We had a thread for this once:
Of course the results of that poll got Discoregressed.
-
Do the 2 things that have to be there, have to be things that exist (like raw doesn't - technically.)
Yes, it has to be two things that exist. It seems this is done client side. My initial thought was to put the admin wrench there. Which worked for those who could see it (TL4+), but not for others. So I can put raw there and it works.

No. I meant what I said and I said what I meant.

No. I meant what I said and I said what I meant.
ORLY?
i see raw, but no bookmark.... lets see what's under that elipsis....
ah! there it is!

Yes, I tested it and then put it back.

oookay....
i'mma going to go get some tea and try to parse what just happened....

wtf... just do the following... require all players to run the following userscript:
$(".delete").click(function(e) { return(confrim("Really delete you dumb Weng?")); } );
-
// ==UserScript== // @name Discourse Anything // @namespace Lorne // @include https://what.thedailywtf.com/t/* // @version 1 // @grant none // @run-at document-end // ==/UserScript== $(document).ready(function() { $(".delete").on("click", function(){ return(confirm("really delete?")); }); });

or.... just add this custom script to the site and make everyone confirm their deletes.
$(document).on('click', '.delete', null, function() {return confirm('Really delete?')});
-
++
$(document).on('click', '.delete', null, function() {return confirm('Did you really want to Weng this post?')});
-
hey look at that Discourse randomly shat the formatting.
For the record, I wasn't sure if we could easily add custom scripts to the site, or that they would load for everyone, or that they would work, or that they wouldn't randomly break.
-
fuck discourse.
i can't use a live handler.
discourse has already deleted the post by the time the event bubbles up to the confirm.

Must just be order of binding. It works as a userscript. Can you attach the script later down the Discourse-Poop-Slop-Chain or whatever the fuck architecture they use?
