The Star Wars VIIIIIII: The Force Awakens FRIDGE LOGIC THREAD **NOW DEFINITELY SPOILERS**

I kinda let that one ride-- though it did bug me a bit. Mostly because, why did she co-operate at all? Wasn't she brainwashed like the other Stormtroopers? I get the sense that they have not much of a survival instinct, vs. protecting their masters. "Lower the shields to harm the superweapon? No. Shoot me in the head. I live to serve, I die to serve". Unless she was one of the few free-will Stormtroopers because she's high enough up the command chain?
While watching the movie I was more wondering how she would have the security clearance for lowering the shields on her own from what appears to be * some random computer console*. Better not think too much about it.

It's been clear all along that neither side is any good at INFOSEC. Nobody there calls any of their children Little Bobby Tables…

The guy who did Star Wars prequels fanfiction
Does that... give him any expertise or qualification at all?

No. Since there was an earlier thread about his fanfiction, I was just referring to him through context that other forum members might recognize.
Kind of like when I say, "...that incoherent argument was made by Blakeyrat, you know, that guy who misunderstands basic tenants of human communication", and everyone is like "Ahhhhhh, yes, that fucker."

That would have been more effective if you had typed something like, "the guy who did that Star Wars fanfiction we discussed in a previous thread here".
If that was really your intention from the start and not just a hastily ass-pulled explanation for your nonsense.

I see why Accalia "lawyerizes" her speech style when talking with you.
-
Look, I read the words on the screen. The thing you typed was different than the thing you (apparently) intended to type. That is confusing. It made me confused. I questioned it. Then we had this conversation.
I apologize for not being able to read the words directly from your mind. I guess.

I hope you remember that advice the next time you do the same thing you're complaining about.

That wasn't Lucas. That was Brooks.
I think I saw that movie once. It was a funny movie, right?
But my point is, in the original trilogy never do the good guys actually have interesting ideas and never are they aware of being pulled into a trap, apart from that one time in the Episode IV, where Leia thinks that Millennium Falcon and its crew did not escape, but was in fact let go, so that the ship can be tracked. Apart from that, the rebels are mostly being tricked by the dark forces and then survive and persevere thanks to a heroic (and quite often dangerous) deed or two. It's really obvious in the new trilogy, where they are doomed to fail. There the Jedi play right into Palpatin's hands with their own ignorance and so they get double-crossed. Their stupidity is also confirmed by the way they treat Anakin: like a grown man when it comes to his duties, but on the other hand not trustworthy enough when he wants to assume new responsibilities.
The good as shown by Lucas was never really that bright.

I prefer to think of it more as him being such a bad storyteller, though. They're not stupid, they're just written that way.

I didn't know that human communication could be rented as a place to live!

Now I know why you're called "groaner".

(Actually hadn't he already spilled the beans? I can't remember.)
It was pulled from his mind.

Well, dive they're written that way, they are stupid. But if you're saying they weren't supposed to be that mentally challenged, well, could be. But it doesn't bother me that much anymore, I've grown accustomed to thinking that great teachers of Lucas's world are only great warriors and sect leaders, not politicians or strategists.
The problem I have with Lucas's writing is, his stories are really entertaining and generally make sense and he's able to create cunning and intelligent characters, but for some reason he assigns them only to the dark side, so I don't know. Maybe double-crossing your enemies is a trait unworthy of the good side (and I don't know how it is perceived from the point of Campbell's monomyth, which was extremely important for Lucas).
But even the new trilogy is better than the incoherent ramblings of discojuicing JJ Abrams.

incoherent ramblings
Speaking of which:
THE TOP TEN THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT DARTH VADAR'S SUIT!

Watched it finally. The force awakens ... weakly ... with a touch of Viagra. Very disappointing after years in waiting!

compared to The Phantom Menace it's genius
I'd rather pretend that none of episodes I, II and III existed, or that they are just some ridiculous fanfic gone wild.
I just happened to bump into this interesting recap of the first movie:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEcjgJSqSRU
Far, far better than the movie itself...

IIRC Weird Al got some flak for releasing that song like a day after the movie came out, and it has spoilers in the lyrics.

And then people saw the movie, and were permanently spoiled in their soul.

Is that what happened to you and/or Blakey?

They made what now? Is this something like how some people claim there were actually three Matrix movies, when everyone knows there was only one?
