Twitch Installs Arch Linux

I am sure they have done a great job.
Base install could also be
install_livecd_to_harddrive
or something similar. But under the hood it requires mount+format, chroot+install Grub, rsync base packages (or bind mount, chroot and install using package manager).
From like 5 years ago I remember I had to apply a patch to WiFi driver, and that required network but I did not have a cable! It had to wait until I got a cable. I could also copy the patch over usb, but that seemed like too much work. I think I did not usewifi-config
too, I am not sure why but I was new to Arch.

Why not? That would at least improve the amount of testing thats being done?

I am sure all modern distros have that next->next GUI wizard.
Gentoo doesn't, but then Gentoo is for masochists (like me). It's (barely) one step away from LFS, really.
I keep meaning to walk through the LFS process in a VM, actually, gotta get around to that some day.

I did that once. Then learned how to build Linux from a Fedora Kickstarter file. It is like building a distribution for yourself, very interesting and only then I learned about some concepts I had no idea about.
Plus for LFS you can use the Aboriginal Linux, no need for a VM either.

Is it just the base install? if it requires setting up WiFi I can check in a year
Ironically, setting up Wi-Fi is the easiest part of installation - just run wifi-config and be done with it.
I once had a laptop that took hours (days) to get the WiFi working under windows. The drivers on the manufacturer site just would not install. After several reboots and googling it was still fruitless, until I tried some related models. I'm pretty sure it eventually worked but not well.
Of course, Ubuntu worked out of the box, and was quicker than just the windows install time.

I think you're setting the bar too high there... I'm pretty sure Twitch uses Discourse would provide enough hilarity to start with.
Baby steps people, baby steps.
-
So, apparently somebody took over the Twitch Installs Arch chat and installed Gentoo instead. Heh.
-
? Looks like arch to me...
-
I really want to see "Twitch Installs SCCM".

I guess you haven't seen https://discuss.dev.twitch.tv

Since when does the rabbit have a bling tooth?

They probably fixed it then. You can watch it here, although it's not exactly riveting video. (The last few minutes show Gentoo booting.)

Given that a year ago, Twitch admins dropped into the chat when someone was streaming Metal Gear Solid 4 because they thought it was a movie...
Edit: Well, crap, the image host for the image over on Reddit got rid of it or something. Either that or my work firewall is being super paranoid again.

Fear of copyright infringement they'd be liable for?

wait.... Metal Gear Solid 4 ISN'T a movie?!i thought it was some sort of odd exclusive agreement to only release the movie for the consoles....

Christ, what an absolute moron.
"Can you open a menu or something?"
Can you fuck off?
You'd figure an admin for a site of its size would be better than Jeff at exercising proper prudence for community rule violations, but apparently not. At least he didn't actually shut down the stream before asking questions, which I guess would be more esque.
-
Interesting. Looks like they're trying to install Gentoo as well?

With how many people agreeing cutscenes are long and movie like, and the chat log suggesting the users title said something about streaming movies I'll file it under "plausible concern", without having the exact stream title, or knowing how long he was watching.
Worth noting, I've never watched any mgs4, but know a couple people played recently in prep for mgs5, so feel free to do some research for me.

On the other hand, I remember setting up university library borrowed 'Orinoco Silver' my Mandrake Linux 8 15+ years ago was quite easy. The DHCP just works.

read that as "Twitch Installs STD's"

From what I've heard about Swampy, that's not so unreasonable an interpretation.
