The Fallen of World War II

Then you're both morons for using a single source's data as evidence that the Holocaust never happened.
-
No one in this topic is saying that Holocaust never happened. If I was, I would
already be banned for breaking a law in whateverbe happy that the country the server is located in (probably USA) doesn't have laws against denying Holocaust, because there are laws against denial of Holocaust in about everycivilizedshithole European socialist country (especiallyunlike the freedom-loving USA).Pinging @PJH @boomzilla @apapadimoulis to ban me for breaking the law, if I broke it.Turns out I can deny Holocaust just fine. Doesn't mean I will.

Or must state a different question - not "was there Holocaust at all?" but "can any person who died in Holocaust be identified by name?".
Fine. You're both morons for using a single source's data as evidence that no person who died in the Holocaust can be identified by name.
-
If I remember correctly, there were eight different sources. And by sources, I mean government and non-government institutions that were founded specifically to research and catalogue facts about Holocaust.
-

Fuck off. The US actually respects freedom of speech. It's legal to deny the Holocaust here. And then we point and mock you for being crazy or evil or whatever. Unless you're Iranian. Then we'll look the other way while you build your
nukesclocks.
-
Huh. I'm pleasantly surprised by this fact. Yet another reason to go on the other side of pond - despite that they've been pushing the political correctness for couple of decades, they still respect the freedom of speech - not just claim to, but actually mean it - unlike in this shithole called "the old world".
-
Yes, we have plenty of stupid, but our speech laws are much better than pretty much anywhere else, AFAIK. For example, this post combines both aspects:
-
At the same time, Heart of Iron series cannot have the actual flag of Third Reich because of swastika being banned in Germany.
-
because there are laws against denial of Holocaust in about every
civilizedshithole European socialist country (especiallyunlike the freedom-loving USA).FTFY.
-

What about "The Downfall"? How did they get away with swastikas everywhere?
-
Probably because in Downfall, Hitler gets his ass kicked, and in HoI you can get different outcome.
-
Ah right. Heart of Iron is a game, not movie. Unfair but understandable.

Everything, really.

oh.
i....
i don't really do that sort of thing....
i suppose i could give a cookie though.... Is that close enough?

t EVERYONE ELSE can very clearly SEE HOW JEWISH YOU'RE BEING, and how you're BEING WAY MORE JEWISH THAN YOUR NEIGHBOR.
Didn't some nice Jewish boy named Jesus have something to say about that?
-
As long as you give the cookie as if it were a consolation prize, that should be good.
-
i give cookies, because cookies.... there need be no other reason.; and rasins need not apply!
-
Didn't some nice Jewish boy named Jesus have something to say about that?
He said "Fuck this shit. I'm starting my own religion. With hookers, and blackjack."

Yes, more or less, but that wasn't what I was thinking about.
-

Good. Raisins are horrid, and should be nowhere near cookies.
-

There's a comic where Garfield scales the fridge to get at the cookie jar, but the fridge falls on him, but he is victorious and gets a cookie, but the cookie has raisins so he throws the cookie at Jon's head.
I'd post it, but the Garfield site doesn't have a search feature, which is a great UI decision for a comic with a decades-long back catalog.
-
No search is better than Discosearch.
-
It's entirely impossible that a search term might be a phrase, so it's much more efficient to just search immediately using the first word and completely freeze the search bar to save resources for the search.
-
They can be used to estimate how big is the exaggeration of number of victims. If someone added a thousand or two false names, surely they could have added a million or two to the tally.
No, victims lists and total number of victims are formed in different ways. Names are not thoroughly checked (because it's largely impossible), whereas number of victims is estimated using german reports of their murderous acts.
You cannot just come up with a number, say "I think there were 100.000 more victims in '44" and get this widely accepted as fact.Of course you may believe that wartime nazi reports and railroad schedules were falsified after the war, by some shadowy pro-holocaust conspiracy. But that's just another level of paranoia (I'm sure there are some wackos who believe that, there are no claims too idiotic for some people).

Conspiracy theorists claim that's exactly what happened with the number of 6 million.

And the shadowy pro-holocaust conspiracy originated somewhere near Orion, by any chance?
-
-
Yes. That one! Is there an app or something for searching?
Hey, extra fun. Clicking the "Quote entire post" button won't quote your post, because it's 100% an image?
Discourse! Not a day goes by when I don't find a raisin in your shit.
For double fun, the REPLY button doesn't work, so I'll cancel this post and try again.
Yup, confirmed. Reply to ChaosTheEternal's post with the Garfield strip. Click Quote Entire Post. Reply button greys out. Can't click reply. Delete text of your message, and you get the "post can't be empty" error.
Should I meta.derp?

I've once read a blog post where someone has described how he tried to verify the Holocaust death count. He found that the official list of Holocaust victims is very incomplet
I once heard a bird chirp a song that kind of sounded like a URL that loaded a radio frequency that had a voice saying to call 555-holocaust and when I dialed it, he said the count was WAY off.
Look, if it was on a fucking BLOG, then give us a link. If all you have is what you posted, WHY THE FUCK DID YOU POST IT?!
-
8.
Joe, Frank, Ethel, Franz, Hanz, Garbo Marx (no relathion), Bobby, and Oats The Great (Bobby's horse).
Though most history books only count human casualties, so I'd have accepted 7 as an answer, too.
-
When that happens to me, I'll usually have to wait a minute or two, and then the input box will be filled with however many copies of the entire quoted post as times I clicked the button. My guess is that it's trying to reupload the image when you try to quote it.
-
Hey, guys. I'm totally not a holocaust denier, but the holocaust didn't happen because there are two John Smiths in this list I just made up
Yes, basically.
-
Calm down, there, blakey, you don't need to get quite so worked up about it. Your mascara's running now.
-
They just had a tendency to burst in to flames.
The Germans wished they could burst into flames at that stage of the war, considering their crippling fuel shortages.

-
The galaxy is on Orion's Belt.
-
My guess is that it's trying to reupload the image when you try to quote it.
It's just retardedly slow sometimes.
-
(especiallyunlike the freedom-loving USA).
What are you trying to imply? It's perfectly legal to talk about the Holocaust in the USA. It you're fucked up Eurocountries that have no freedom of speech (and I include Canada in that set) that have the problem.
-
What about "The Downfall"? How did they get away with swastikas everywhere?
Because it's historically accurate and doesn't glorify war. Same deal with Das Boot.
Apparently you have to get special permission and it's a PITA.
-
Also a possibility, but I'm just trying to go with worst-case-scenario explanations, since that seems to be the most accurate way of guessing how Discourse works.

No repro (Chrome/Win7):
I thought Firefox had problems full quoting some posts awhile back. Maybe that has returned/spread?
@Lorne_Kates said:

What's visible is. I have a HTML comment in there.

I just did a Bing search for "garfield fridge raisin cookie", looked at the image that matched the comic described for the year and date, then found it on the Garfield site and linked it (and uploaded the comic image, since it doesn't onebox).
-

It's pretty trivial to confirm that's not what it's doing.
Quote full post essentially drops the raw of the post in between the quote tags.No repro (Chrome/Win7):
Likewise.
-
I just did a Bing search for "garfield fridge raisin cookie"
I did that. NOW when I search that, i get as result 1 as the Garfield minus Garfield strip that matches. Result 2 is a link to this thread-- meaning Google now things the fallen from WWII includes Garfield trapped under a fridge.
And since you won't find Garfield the Cat on any Holocaust memorials, the Holocaust didn't happen.
-
blah blah blah CAPS LOCK
I was waiting for you to join in. I was waiting to tell you to GET THE FUCK OUT AND FIND YOUR OWN TOPIC TO FLOOD!
-
And the shadowy pro-holocaust conspiracy originated somewhere near Orion, by any chance?
If you consider Jerusalem to be near Orion, then yes. What are you trying to imply?
You're late to the party. I was already corrected to death on this point. Why do you think I put all the inses and dels in that post? My edit history is public, you could easily see that it was added after @apapadimoulis's post.
-
It's actually not trivial. For one thing, maybe it's trying to upload it for the preview? Maybe there's some point where it uploads the discoimage only to discard it and return to the discoimage from the original post - there's plenty of precedent for promptly discarding a great deal of effort, judging from the multitude of TDWTF articles devoted to examining such situations. Plus, I couldn't confirm what Quote Full Post was trying to do for that post, because I was not as lucky as you or Chaos; I can definitely reproduce the issue, and I stopped waiting for the quote to show up after staring at the window for three minutes with no change.
