Page Numbers are wrong in Android
-
Literally the only way discourse works on my phone is when I turn off javascript, and I am probably TRWTF+DoingItWrong for browsing like this.
Anyway, when using Android, Discourse decides to calculate page numbers in two different ways: On the main page showing all topics, the page size is 20. Within each thread, the page size is 10Effectively, the main page shows (eg)
While each thread has twice as many pages; the fox ideas thread actually goes up to page 68.

I think that may be a deliberate thing to work around their terrible android performance. I remember them talking about sending half of the data for android. So it's only to be expected that they forgot to account for that in other places.

IIRC, it is; the same change also affects WinPhones. And of course it means twice as many hits to the query that fetches 34628965903865174386021875432657984320 post IDs when you load t/1000. Which means more cooties.
Discourse. Breaking the server to fix the client.
-
And the "fix" doesn't even really make Windows Phones (yay user-agent detection to determine whether or not the client can handle all our JS awesomeness) that functional. Because IE on WP8.1 streams the posts in from #10 to #1. Causing all kinds of jellypotato if your finger is within capacitance distance of the screen while posts are loading in.
But hey, at least Jeff can keep cashin' dem' checks from Apple for being such a fanboi.

And let's not forget the all-new behaviour of removing every single piece of UI when posting on WinPhone.
No, seriously. You make a post, then when the composer disappears, you see nothing but white; you have to refresh to see your new post.
-
So you post and then you stop seeing Discourse?
Sounds like a feature to me.
-
True, I've run into that as well. Though it's not a huge deal to me, since I'm very likely to interact with the site in read only mode from mobile. Because the rest of the DC composer is EVEN LESS FUNCTIONAL on mobile, of course...
-
Oh, that reminds me of the 473589604320584507483072894375897489526957982569483729 times I've been typing in the composer, and no characters go into the textbox. And I then spend the next 398986485236543872056487320613567364025436578426548765720834057843654106547380125648723 minutes getting it to work again

I have a hard time believing that you've spent 7.58 * 1077 millennia trying to get it to work again.

FTFY.

Shrunk and uploaded; original was 8.3MB!

Thank you for hotlinking to an image that actually does take 7.58 * 1077 millennia to load.
Anyway, isn't "Hyperbole" that girl from Harry Potter? What does that have to do with your blatant lying?
-
isn't "Hyperbole" that girl from Harry Potter?
No, hyperbole is what the rest of the world plays when America is playing the superbole and thinking it matters
-
No, hyperbole is what the rest of the world plays when America is playing the superbole and thinking it matters
Isn't that the "World" series? Or am I thinking of something else?
-
No, the world series is a genuine achievement that America has won all of them. These days<and all other days , other countries don't even enter
-
it's only to be expected that they forgot to account for that in other places
That's the Discourse development modus operandi.
-
Canada does sometimes.
-
Isn't that just America with polar bears? Basically the island from Lost
-
No, the island from Lost had a computer on it.

Standard technique, elsewhere: Fire and Forget

But Discourse is not a missile.
-
But it does leave smoking craters where sanity used to be

WOAH WOAH WOAH.
You can't have 9 letters on a scrabble... errr, wtf are those things called? Letter-holder-thingy?

A bouncy rack?

The jellypotato seems strong at the moment. Was getting jellypotatoed all over the place yesterday.

Fucking hell I look at site at work man! A mustache like that is enough to blind anyone.

That's what happened to Cheech.
