Wait... they make chocolate-covered gummi bears?!
Why am I just now hearing about this?!

This guy has to be on a watch list now. He has someone flying drones around, while he turns balloons full of HHO float up in to the sky with fuses attached until the fuses burn down and the balloons go off like bombs.

That URL lets you download the Windows 10 ISO without having to run any shitty tools, UNLESS your user agent says you're running Windows 7 or 8, in which case you will be silently redirected to a different URL.

Ooh that's nice

Artisan Dice? Seriously?
Even for this forum, that's far too geeky.
-
Even for this forum
It's like you're new here or something.
FWIW I found that via last week's PA about their mammoth-bone dice. Which are, like $150 or something, if you could get them, which I think you can't any longer.

Have these people learnt nothing from Jurassic Park? Tsk.
They're just carving dice out of dug-up mammoth. They're not harvesting DNA to produce wild mammoth.
Although even if they were, I say "bring it". I have a shotgun.

Yes, I'm sure that occurred to most of the pervs here on WTDWTF, too. I have to admit, that sounds even more painful than Mr. Hands.

Redeploying adware and bloatware straight from BIOS/UEFI firmware to thwart laptop re-installations from clean install media.
Oh wait...

Redeploying adware and bloatware straight from BIOS/UEFI firmware to thwart laptop re-installations from clean install media.
Well, I'm wondering which laptop vendors don't pull such shenanigans at this point...especially considering I'm hanging out at the edges of the laptop market at the moment.

Seems like Xerox is interested in consolidating their evil status. Not only are they selling region-locked ink cartridges, but attempting to use ink from other regions bricks your printer .
-
That's really fucking evil. Wow.

descriptive and accurate of the majority of DRM solutions that have been tried, and i think i'm justified in claiming it's accurate for all DRM solutions attempted for physical objects.
don't get me wrong i'm not an anarchist that says DRM is wrong and evil in and of itself, i'm just saying that most of the implementations of it suck donkey balls.

Wow. And which bright light at Xerox thought that holding the hardware to ransom like this would fly under the radar of consumer protection laws? The EU is going to have Xerox for lunch...
-
I guess Xerox will have to region-lock the printers instead/additionally, then?

This one also qualifies as a bad idea: register the domain sea.org and then offer it to the Happyologists for $1 billion.
Either you'll get a ton of money, or a bullet in the back of the head.
Filed under: I wonder why they haven't gotten that one already, actually

An idea just crossed my mind - what about an extension of a venerable programming language?
OOOok - "Object Oriented Ook!".

Ook->ook?

Ook! Ook.ook.ook.Ook.ook?

Well I am a PHP enthusiast-masochist after all...

Aka 'gone bananas'.

That should be an official status code. I mean, we also have
HTTP/1.1 418 I'm a teapot
and

HTTP/1.1 410 Gone Bananas
What about
HTTP/1.1 460 Gone Bananas
where "Bananas" stands for a fruit appropriate for the given service? (Default:Gone Nuts
)

How someone spent “pennies” to troll women, people of color via promoted tweets
I'm a bit late to the party, but my god that's some masterful trolling.

you can do some wonderful targeting. You can aim for people that have donated to Democratic campaigns, or animal rights causes (can't wait to try to sell those people some furs).

Ok. I was trying to convert my blue "ovals" with numbers in them into blue circles with numbers in them when a came across a sequence of posts about the virtues of black / white text to that of white / black text being visible against any col{o|ou}r background, with the inevitable comments about being sore for the eyes etc. Went way to create an evil image (cos I'm like that sometimes). Got distracted with notifications, and "lost" the topic.
So I'm dumping it here:
-
neat. reminds me of some of the backgrounds @aliceif has used for her usercard in the past (and still does?)
EDIT: Yep. and still does.
-
I think that counts as extenuating circumstances if his nephew's parents murdered him.
-
Pretty! But the watermarks and text ruin it ...
-
Plenty more where that came from. I was looking for a particular type of image, one that would cause the "maximum" interference with the white / black || black /white text. I think my eventual selection was an autonomic self preservation (of the eyes) event.

I'd expect a background image of also white+black text to be harder to read clearly, but I can't be bothered to make one to try that out.

This is more evil. The McCollough effect. It temporarily breaks something in the edge-detection part of the human visual system.
There is active research into it, so it's not fully understood still.

It lasted for about an hour for me...just about the point you get worried you might have permanently damaged your brain

Weird, the black dots are more visible to me while spoilered, during mouseover.

somewhere between 0 and g64
pay me money and i'll narrow that range for you
