What favorite UI element will we lose next? Everything?
-
Did I mention I have to do it from a web app?
No, but I did it from a web app. Unless ZPL specific stuff is crazy (we only did EPL), it really doesn't seem complicated from code.
-
Can we please call it tiger stripes, not... the z thing? I have... a history with that word.
How about "Stripemapping?"
-
Cold or hot stripes?
-
-
Am I crazy that I didn't find it all that bad to make them print labels?
That isn't the problem. There usually is no problem on the test setup. Or rather, all potential problems up to that point can be resolved. Fun begins when the stuff is deployed at the customer. Or something stops works because the stars are no longer aligned.
-
Apparently 1% of voters are undecided...
-
Now we have the new styles, I decided to see how the tiger stripes look with the borders:
I quite like that
-
Well, there go the tigers...
-
```css
table.ember-view.topic-list tbody tr:nth-child(odd) {
background-color: #F7F7F7;
}table.ember-view.topic-list tbody tr:nth-child(even) {
background-color: #FFFFFF;
}table.ember-view.topic-list tbody tr {
border-style: none;
}To bring them back ;)
-
Eww, polar bear stripes.
-
-
The more I look at the style on meta.d, the more I hate it.
Now you can have more white right here! You racist.
-
Stripes are back...
-
-
You removed too much of the border. There is nothing between the table-head and the table-body anymore.
Filed Under: Could you try border AND stripes, please? thanks!
-
Howzat?
-
If you now fix that Topics loaded by clicking on "X new or updated topics. Click here to show" also get zebra, I would almost accept this.
Filed Under: Thanks for the effort, though!
-
Tell me how I can fix that.
-
Use your admin powers to revert back to beta5? Hell if I know... ask those CSS-specialists here!
Actually, how did Discourse handle it before? I know it was slightly broken as in the stripes would not match up at one point... but at least there were stripes in the update topics.
Filed Under: This forum is UNUSABLE because the zebrastripes don't match up! #RageQuit!
-
That background style is an inline style on the
tr
tag itself; it overrides anything the stylesheets may do
-
Nasty... scriptable, but I don't like it :-\
-
-
Tell me how I can fix that.
Would marking the zebra stripe CSS
!important
do the trick?
-
I'm not sure that can override inline styles
-
-
-
Not on mobile.
I don't know what the magic incantation is to make some style happen on mobile. I just used the CSS provided above and put it into the TDWTF default and Widescreen-min.
-
I think Mobile View has a separate section when editing CSS themes. Probably need to have @PJH chime in for that as I'm fairly sure he's done it.
-
Oh...there's a button with a picture of a phone. Try now.
-
Looks good:
-
ETA 'd by forgetting the screenshot key. Also, baking made my screenshot blurry. Eeewwwww.
-
You and @abarker are running Lollipop; why are the bottom icons in a different order?
-
Main list shows the stripes, suggested topics doesn't.
-
a button with a picture of a phone
Oooo a button! Better press it!
Press ALL the buttons!
-
You and @abarker are running Lollipop; why are the bottom icons in a different order?
My phone let's me customize the order. If I wanted, I could even add up to two more icons.
-
Probably custom skins. @FrostCat's is the Android default, I suspect @abarker might have an LG since they allow customisation of the softkeys.
...and
-
1+1?
-
On my phone, you can choose the button order. I don't recall if I changed it from the default, but I know not every phone maker Puya the buttons in the same order.
Really, Swype? Puya instead of puts??
-
Main list shows the stripes, suggested topics doesn't.
Huh...for reference, here's what we have now:
/* tiger stripes */ table.ember-view.topic-list tbody tr:nth-child(odd) { background-color: #F7F7F7; } table.ember-view.topic-list tbody tr:nth-child(even) { background-color: #FFFFFF; }
I guess the suggested topics on mobile aren't
table.ember-view.topic-list tbody tr
s?
-
Probably custom skins. @FrostCat's is the Android default
I'm actually pretty sure I changed what the phone had as default, which wasn't the android default: it came with inverted colors and I changed them. Also, IIRC we have the same phone, maybe with different carriers; I may have swapped the buttons.
-
drop the
.ember-view
and it should work. They left that out of the classes on the table for suggested topics on mobile, and it isn't really needed.Should give you:
/* tiger stripes */ table.topic-list tbody tr:nth-child(odd) { background-color: #F7F7F7; } table.topic-list tbody tr:nth-child(even) { background-color: #FFFFFF; }
-
It looks like on mobile, they're
table.topic-list tbody tr
s. No.ember-view
found.
-
Ewww. Bad Ideas thread etc.
Oh...there's a button with a picture of a phone. Try now.
</head>
and</footer>
are shared between both (despite them going missing without explanation when mobile selected) - everything else is either desktop or mobile, depending on iconography.
-
drop the .ember-view and it should work.
they're table.topic-list tbody trs.
OK. Applied to our default and widescreen.
-
Ewww. Bad Ideas thread etc.
Just because it is usually a bad idea doesn't mean it never has its place. This may be one of those rare times. How would you override the inline styling?
-
I guess I kinda somewhat called it, didn't I?
[I]f they get rid of the zebra striping, will they still have the bug where the rows added on the latest list [...] have inline styles for the background color.
I want to say I'm surprised, but I'm really not.
-
-
Yeah, I went into device emulation mode on desktop chrome and it seems to be there too. Haven't popped back to the phone yet to double-check, but if @abarker says it works it probably will for me too.
-
Well...
Wonderful.
Too understaded, IMHO, but ok. The problem I'm worried about the count bubbles though. I set a few topics on tracking, see if I can catch a screenie.
-
Those styles have been on meta.d for ages
