Random Rant of the night.

Cue old joke about how Batman could do 59,000,000 times more social good using Bruce Wayne's money and corporate connections than dressing up at night.
-
Rich men can't do good things, though. They're part of the Patriarchy.
-
-
Well, they're also marxist, so being rich is enough to invalidate anything someone says or does.

I guessed that the ad was designed by black people before I even looked at the article.
I guess it's because I'm actually from the south, where if you aren't careful, you may get "axed" a question.
"g dropping" was a part of the language, growing up.
Who's drivin'?
Wat'ch you doin'?Those slangs were used by everyone.
And I wished everyone was up front about who to tip. I don't care about the money, I care about ending up embarrassed. Because I've had just as many people treat me bad for tipping as I've had get mad about me accidentally stiffing them.

Everybody should know that now that Granny Clinton talks that way when she wants to condescend to southerners.

I've been thinking about all the things that SJWs of the future will call horribly racist or whatever that happens today. Hopefully they'll recognize how awful their predecessors were, but I won't be holding my breath.
-
Good. Breath-holding is ablist.

That toxic form of masculinity is what got us through survival mode.
It's only in the cushiness of first world, that alternatives have room to blossom.

This.
I'd like to toss some of these SJW's into the wilderness for a year and see if they come out alive or not at the end of it. That would be the ultimate reality check. And if they did make it alive, if their viewpoints on how things should be were still alive or not.
-
I'd like to toss some of these SJW's into the wilderness for a year and see if they come out alive or not at the end of it.
Most of them would probably come out the better for simply having a real job, something in a store, movie theater, office, garage, etc.

You have a different definition of wilderness than I.
Wilderness = small town that doesn't have a mega mall?

No, he's saying instead of wilderness make them take a real job. Would be more edumacational for them.
-
he's saying instead of wilderness make them take a real job.
That would never work.
They'd swear there was a glass ceiling as a cashier, that being having to apply real effort that doesn't get them a lot of stage attention.
-
Wilderness = small town that doesn't have a mega mall?
The kind of hipster or whatever that lives in NYC or SF probably thinks so, although that wasn't what I meant.
-
-
come out the better for simply having a real job,
Better yet, people should start their own businesses. They'll then figure out just how much stuff a typical businessman deals with - employment taxes, employer-paid taxes levied per employee, business property taxes, license fees, sales tax collection, compliance/paperwork costs, risks of employees leaving with or without cause, ...
-
But then they'd blame consumers for their glass ceiling. Because they can't advance because consumers won't buy from women.
-
You appear to be engaged in mass to demonstrate how a hypothetical SJW would
-
If you say they'd learn something from having a real job, and would somehow change their opinions...
Then they'd already have a real job.
They are doing what they do, because somewhere along the line, they failed at something else.
-
They are doing what they do, because somewhere along the line, they failed at something else.
Or maybe they took a gender studies class as general education and got sucked in.
-
I would expect a person that prides themselves in self-sufficiency would run from a class like that, once they found out what it was.
-
If you say they'd learn something from having a real job, and would somehow change their opinions...
Then they'd already have a real job.
Not necessarily. I fooled around in college a long time but when I got out and had to get a real job, my attitude about a lot of things changed within a couple of years. It's like that Ghostbusters quote: "You've never been out of college! You don't know what it's like out there! I've worked in the private sector. They expect results. "
-
So, you think if you had not got a job, but yet attended multiple seminars where people told you, you were great, simply because you nod when they talk, you'd also be self-imporant...
Or would you see all that and say, no I actually want to accomplish something.
-
Or would you see all that and say, no I actually want to accomplish something.
Me personally I suspect I would've changed eventually anyway, as that was the direction I was heading, but I was quite liberal while still in college, to an extent that would surprise many here, I bet.
-
The big liberal mistake is letting social issue drive economics.
The big conservative mistake is thinking they can get more approval if they act like liberals.I wonder if it would help if we had separate systems for economic and social issues?
-
But then they'd blame consumers for their glass ceiling. Because they can't advance because consumers won't buy from women.
Does that include female consumers?
You appear to be engaged in mass to demonstrate how a hypothetical SJW would
That's exactly how they think. I have a relative that does exactly that every time i engage her in conversation. She's also one of the exceptions who hold a real job but still think this way.
They are doing what they do, because somewhere along the line, they failed at something else.
Bingo!
-
Does that include female consumers?
I spent some time on an article complaining about the difficulties of women's business attire.
And it was legit, there are some big problems in attempting to dress attractive, but not too attractive. Strong, but not overpowering, blah blah.
But then I noticed that, at least for the first page of comments, out of the stories that mentioned what a boss required of a subordinate, 1/6 of the examples was a male boss, who made a comment, just a comment.
The women bosses went so far as to drag their subordinate to a store and select clothes for her.
One woman complained of having to hire a dress consultant. I thought, you know, men have had consultants for years too, not every suit is made the same. I have to wear a coat with two splits in the back.
-
I spent some time on an article complaining about the difficulties of women's business attire.
Smart blouse, smart skirt/trousers, smart shoes. There, that was easy
-
Yes, the men, don't care that much.
Again, this was female bosses.
That smart blouse is too silky.
That smart coat has the shoulders cut too wide.
That smart skirt has too many pleats.Lower the cut on the blouse, not that low.
Basically, the women are creating their own glass ceilings.
Women don't pay women as much as men, they don't promote women, they don't like the competition.
-

Yeah, but for most of these men, we call the consultant our wife.
-
cis-gender privilege.
-
Eh...I make my life harder in my own ways.
-
I wonder if it would help if we had separate systems for economic and social issues?
Ah yes, because there are no relationships of any kind between economic issues and social issues.
-
No, but it would help if the people asking for social reform were held accountable to the budget.
-
BBC still has not worked this out. They are going crazy to be 'balanced'
-
Huh?
Doctor Who is still mostly white.
And the new Sherlock show is all white too.
Unless they start casting black people as villains, they won't be balanced (and people just gonna love that, "You saying black is evil?")Maybe they can make the doctor black, because that one time he had a black companion, it didn't work out too well. She was a terrible actress.

Though some of the best character development in the show came from this guy.

-
Well, that's because his development was a black box.
But I agree, when he came back, it was awesome.
-
Of course the black guy has the massive gun. Combining an association between blacks and gun crime, with the microaggression of "you're black, you must have a big dick"
-
I thought big guns and fast cars were for people overcompensating for small dicks?
-
Well, that's because his development was a black box.

Not entirely. He developed pretty well in Rise of the Cybermen / Age of Steel. He'd just started to grow a pair at the beginning of Rise of the Cybermen, but he was really coming into his own by the end of Age of Steel Sure, he came a lot further by the time he came back in Army of Ghosts, but the most interesting part of his character development was in Rise of the Cybermen / Age of Steel.
-
I always find it amazing how many minorities they find to do guest spots in Doctor Who and Torchwood and etc.
And yet their largest minority, Indians and Pakistanis? Almost completely absent. WTF.
Not that US TV is any better, but.
-

Here's his friend Jake with an equally large gun. Feel better?

He has an ACTION FIGURE?! WTF
Oh man my favorite action figure as a kid was Jake. "Jake?" Yeah he guested on like 2 episodes of Doctor Who once. His entire plot line resolved around confusing Mickey with Ricky.
-
He has an ACTION FIGURE?! WTF
No, just a trading card.

Oh that's a bit better. Still surprised they bothered to give him a last name, haha. Dude's like a real life Guy from Galaxy Quest. "I'm not important enough to get a last name!"
-
Maybe they can make the doctor black, because that one time he had a black companion, it didn't work out too well. She was a terrible actress.
She was better than Donna, though.
As far as black people on Doctor Who, don't forget Mickey, Martha's family, and Disruptive Influence.
etc
-
She was better than Donna, though.
Well, now that I'm thinking about it, she was much better when she returned later, but when she was a companion, she was terrible. That may be the role she was given was terrible, but still..... terrible.
I think Donna did alright as far as acting goes. She played the idiot well. The character was terrible, but the acting was good.
On a sidenote, I just realized that for all of the progressive god of peace personality they give the Doctor, he leaves behind a society that MUST defend itself with military strength, and then complains that they fought when he returns.
You know what Doctor, using overwhelming time-space powers to defeat your opponent without drawing blood, is a luxury.
TIL pacifism only works if your gun is sufficiently advanced to not have to use it.
I mean, he's really just playing cold war, then lying about it when confronted.
-

Yeah, that's only been a plot point for most of the new series...
